Information

From the time LSPDFR first came out, I wanted to add a bit more variety to what you could do.

This does just that.

Just detained a suspect and want to check their car for anything else you can charge them for? Simply go to any door of their car and press 'G' to search it. You can search the hood, trunk, and doors of a car. After a second or two, a notification will pop up, displaying what you found, if anything. This could be anything from some alcohol to license plates to a weapon. It's not just limited to just one item, either. You could find a weapon and some drugs, or maybe this guy likes to steal and has license plates, forged ID cards, and another vehicle's registration. If you've already searched a vehicle, then it will notify you of that, and list the items you found. If you accidentally search a car when you don't want to, press the search key again or just use a movement key and it will cancel the search.

In addition, you can pull out equipment from your trunk, such as rifles, body armor, and med-kits, in case a situation becomes more than just a small handgun can handle.

If you want another option in how you handle a situation, than this is for you. I hope you enjoy!

This plugin also has controller support. Just press left on the DPad by default to search a vehicle.

Installation and Usage

You need the Rage Plugin Hook for this to work. The newest version has been tested with Rage Plugin Hook v0.34.862.6641 ONLY and may not work with older versions.

When you have that installed, drop both the .dll and the .ini into your Plugins folder. Once you're in-game, press F4 to bring up the Rage Hook console, and type 'LoadPlugin VehicleSearch.dll' (without the apostrophes). If you're running an older Rage Hook, it will probably say something about the plugin not being verified. Just hit the up arrow, and then enter again. It should load correctly. After that, simply press the search key (default 'G' / 'LeftDPad') when near a vehicle's door to search it.

Configuration

In the included .ini file, you can edit things such as the button/key mapping, what items you can find, and the odds of finding an item. For more advanced users, you can change the animation your character uses as he searches.

mine keeps crashing after loading it up in rageplugin. any idea how to fix it?

Are you using the latest version, v2.0? Are you using the latest rage hook, v0.20? If you are, load Vehicle Search, and then send me your crash log (the RagePluginHook.log file in your GTA V directory).

Yes using both. And when i load vehicle search it crashes after around 2 minute, or if i exit a car, when loading again outside a car it crashes instantly, when in a car the same thing happends as before, crash after 2 or when exitting the car. And the error is just: vehiclesearch.dll has stopped working

Yep. Are you absolutely sure you're running v0.20 of the Rage Hook? Try downloading it again and installing it.

How would you suggest I set this to where I get a hit on most vehicles? I want it to hit for 1/2 or 1/3 of vehicles, because of the large list of items I have available.

That's an old ini file, which won't work with the latest version as the format has changed since then. I recommend downloading Vehicle Search again, and then change the values in the ini that it comes with. If you want to use the items you have there, just paste them into the new ini. For 1/2 or 1/3 chance, it would be 2 and 3 respectively for the chance (1 in 2 chance = 1/2 and 1 in 3 chance = 1/3). You may want it a bit higher though, as later versions allow you to search more than just the trunk, which means you'll find more items anyway if you search the doors.

You may want to increase the chance decay though, as if it finds a lot of items, they'll get cut off when they're displayed (a game limitation).

You can have a value (more than two billion, if you want to get crazy) higher than seven, that's just there to explain it. (1 in 7 = 1/7 chance of finding something)

That's where I was confused. So the number input "ItemFindChance=10" is equal to 1/10. I didn't see any explanation for this. But I will reinstall the mod with the newest version.

Hey, great mod, one of the musthaves. I was wondering if it's possible for other developers like me to tie in with this and place items in a car? For example, known drugs runners, when you catch them and search their car with your mod you find drugs, scales, money etc.

If not, I hope we can find a way to add it!

My mod (More Jail Points and Prisoner Transporter) does something similar to hook into the lspdfr api and appdomain- II'll pm you tomorrow to help you hook it in if you like!

Any chance you could add a key modifier (i.e. ctrl-X or shift-X) to initiate the search? I'm quickly running out of keys with all these mods and plugins...

Can i somehow disable hood and doors search? Cos i have e key for search and it conflict with lspdfr. Otherwise great mod, and thanks for modifier key)

Currently, there's no way to disable specific doors to search. I may add a way to enable/disable specific doors in the future.

Is anyone else having Chrome report the zip file (both 2.0.2 and 3) as malicious? While I do believe that the file is fine, I don't want to be victimized of a 2nd Angry Planes/NoClip scenario.

Edit: Disabled Chrome's protection, and VirusTotal reports the zip file as clean. https://www.virustotal.com/en/file/665c272617a108780af395d490413082dc9551ae6273c5f2dc43512e764c441f/analysis/1438981883/ Will report back if I find any other issues.

Edit 2: Running the DLL in VirusTotal reports it has already been scanned with a 0/56 detection ratio. So yeah, file appears to be clean.

Pretty sure it's just google blocking files from the lcpdfr site.
