Information

From the time LSPDFR first came out, I wanted to add a bit more variety to what you could do.

This does just that.

Just detained a suspect and want to check their car for anything else you can charge them for? Simply go to any door of their car and press 'G' to search it. You can search the hood, trunk, and doors of a car. After a second or two, a notification will pop up, displaying what you found, if anything. This could be anything from some alcohol to license plates to a weapon. It's not just limited to just one item, either. You could find a weapon and some drugs, or maybe this guy likes to steal and has license plates, forged ID cards, and another vehicle's registration. If you've already searched a vehicle, then it will notify you of that, and list the items you found. If you accidentally search a car when you don't want to, press the search key again or just use a movement key and it will cancel the search.

In addition, you can pull out equipment from your trunk, such as rifles, body armor, and med-kits, in case a situation becomes more than just a small handgun can handle.

This plugin also has controller support. Just press left on the DPad by default to search a vehicle.

Installation and Usage

You need the Rage Plugin Hook for this to work. The newest version has been tested with Rage Plugin Hook v0.34.862.6641 ONLY and may not work with older versions.

When you have that installed, drop both the .dll and the .ini into your Plugins folder. Once you're in-game, press F4 to bring up the Rage Hook console, and type 'LoadPlugin VehicleSearch.dll' (without the apostrophes). If you're running an older Rage Hook, it will probably say something about the plugin not being verified. Just hit the up arrow, and then enter again. It should load correctly. After that, simply press the search key (default 'G' / 'LeftDPad') when near a vehicle's door to search it.

Configuration

In the included .ini file, you can edit things such as the button/key mapping, what items you can find, and the odds of finding an item. For more advanced users, you can change the animation your character uses as he searches.

I'd of course like to credit G17 Media for creating LSPDFR, and the creators of the Rage Plugin Hook: for the hook itself, and for providing a ton of example code.

Please, give me any bug or crash reports. I'll try my best to fix them. I'd like suggestions on what I could add to the mod. If you have a great idea of something that would work well with the system already in place, then go ahead and tell me; if I think it would fit well, then I'll do my best to add it.

I've uploaded a video of the plugin in action which you can view here. This is of the first version, so keep that in mind.

I guess I accidentally dragged both the ini and the dll in to the plugins folder from that addon when I only wanted to drag the ini!

If you would like a more realistic items list for Vehicle Search, I suggest the one I made, called MoreItem's! Just follow ALL DIRECTIONS and it will add a more realistic feel to Vehicle Search! The 350+ Items Add-On is outdated and contains some weird items that either you wouldn't find in a car or that you should be able to see but you can't.

Hi there,

Great mod and use it all the time...i have been searching for other animations to try but do not know how to enter that into the .ini file to see if it looks ok...

After searching online perhaps we can try the following:

amb@prop_human_bum_bin@idle_a

idle_a
Seems to be a not too bad animation...see what you think...i would give it a try but dont know how!

I believe you would just change the two animation vars to match this:

AnimationTrunkDictionary=amb
AnimationTrunk=prop_human_bum_bin

It's been a long time though so I'm not even sure. If you want to you can try it out, I'll see what I can do when I'm not inching away at the code.

Thanks for that mate...i did insert those but the lines crashed the script sadly... not sure how do do this..anymore ideas?

Appreciate your time though and happy to keep hunting for other animations as well :)

Is there any way to lower the chance of finding illegal items? Every time I search a vehicle I find about 4 different red items. Although I am using another mod that adds more items to find.

I don't think you're meant to be finding four different items at once. Check your find chance settings. Which add-on are you using to find more items?

Hello, sir. It fixed itself or maybe I was running an old version, but is there any way to speed it up? Do I change the 1.0 to .5?

There should be a setting that says 'AnimationWaitTime'. Change that to the amount of seconds you want to wait multiplied by 1000. (It's in milliseconds.)

Alright, seems to be working, just this error in the log if it matters.

Never mind, I fixed it. It was real finicky on what I called the controls. I accidentally typed LeftShift instead of LShift

That's something that I can't for the life of me figure out. It's not a big deal, fortunately.
