Information

From the time LSPDFR first came out, I wanted to add a bit more variety to what you could do.

This does just that.

Just detained a suspect and want to check their car for anything else you can charge them for? Simply go to any door of their car and press 'G' to search it. You can search the hood, trunk, and doors of a car. After a second or two, a notification will pop up, displaying what you found, if anything. This could be anything from some alcohol to license plates to a weapon. It's not just limited to just one item, either. You could find a weapon and some drugs, or maybe this guy likes to steal and has license plates, forged ID cards, and another vehicle's registration. If you've already searched a vehicle, then it will notify you of that, and list the items you found. If you accidentally search a car when you don't want to, press the search key again or just use a movement key and it will cancel the search.

In addition, you can pull out equipment from your trunk, such as rifles, body armor, and med-kits, in case a situation becomes more than just a small handgun can handle.

This plugin also has controller support. Just press left on the DPad by default to search a vehicle.

Installation and Usage

You need the Rage Plugin Hook for this to work. The newest version has been tested with Rage Plugin Hook v0.34.862.6641 ONLY and may not work with older versions.

When you have that installed, drop both the .dll and the .ini into your Plugins folder. Once you're in-game, press F4 to bring up the Rage Hook console, and type 'LoadPlugin VehicleSearch.dll' (without the apostrophes). If you're running an older Rage Hook, it will probably say something about the plugin not being verified. Just hit the up arrow, and then enter again. It should load correctly. After that, simply press the search key (default 'G' / 'LeftDPad') when near a vehicle's door to search it.

Configuration

In the included .ini file, you can edit things such as the button/key mapping, what items you can find, and the odds of finding an item. For more advanced users, you can change the animation your character uses as he searches.

I'd of course like to credit G17 Media for creating LSPDFR, and the creators of the Rage Plugin Hook: for the hook itself, and for providing a ton of example code.

I'd also like to give due credit to FinKone, who gave me help with positioning code, and for his own plugin, Police Radio.

Please, give me any bug or crash reports. I'll try my best to fix them. I'd like suggestions on what I could add to the mod. If you have a great idea of something that would work well with the system already in place, then go ahead and tell me; if I think it would fit well, then I'll do my best to add it.

I've uploaded a video of the plugin in action which you can view here. This is of the first version, so keep that in mind.

Definitely sure I'm using 2.0.4; I've reinstalled RPH 22 and have manually reinstalled 2.0.4 multiple times, each time the plugin loads, I receive the following:
[8/14/2015 8:13:03 AM.680] Plugin "Vehicle Search v2.0.4" was loaded from "VehicleSearch.dll".
[8/14/2015 8:13:03 AM.979] Vehicle Search v2.0.4: System.ArgumentException: The specified type is not an Enum type.

I was about to ask the same thing. Everything is up to date and I am getting these 2 messages, though the mod seems to be working fine.

If that helps, the only modifications I have made to the INI file are:

SearchKeyboard=W
SearchKeyboardMod=Shift
Items=~r~a gun, ~r~explosives, ~o~opened alcohol, ~o~bags of money, ~o~a roach clip, ~y~forged ID cards, ~y~shaved keys, ~b~license plates, ~b~dog fur, ~b~cat fur
(I looked for a list of illegal stuffs and came up with dog and cat fur lol and I chose colours by level of "severity")
DrugItems=~r~some drugs, ~r~packaged drugs, ~r~used needles, ~r~a scale, ~r~a burnt spoon, ~r~a roach clip
(added the roach clip to both lines to check out how things would come up depending on my search or K9)

I can't seem to find the cause of those messages, probably something to do with the default value being read wrong. It shouldn't affect anything.

The DrugItems are pretty much the same as the regular items, since Vehicle Search doesn't communicate with Police Radio just yet.

It's right between the SearchKeyboard and SearchController settings. Make sure you have the latest version of Vehicle Search.

Just downloaded and installed the newest version and I am able to load it but every time I go to search a car it crashes. Any idea what might be causing it? thanks.

Can you post your RageHook log.. You don't need the whole log, just the time-frame you were playing maybe from the time you loaded into the game till the end of the log.. Be easier for someone to help you that way.. maybe something you don't see, maybe a conflict or something else going on causing it to crash.

Hope this helps. Ive only been able to get call out mods to work and both the breathalyzer and vehicle search crash every time.

Updated RPH and now LSPDFR crashes when i try to load the plugin.

removed all my mods and now lspdfr works. Going to try installing one at a time to see whats crashing lspdfr

Looks like Police Radio was crashing everything. Great mod now that it works.

Make sure you use the correct version of Police Radio for the RPHv22 and lspdrfr0.2b version you are on and you will be fine. If you use an older version of Police Radio it will crash it for you.. Use 0.35 [hotfix] Just look at the changelog and make sure it is checked for that version and not an earlier version that only works with older versions of RPH and lspdfr.

Don't know what impact this may or may not have on plugins and callouts.

Right now, I have it so it checks the vehicle to see if the vehicle is a police vehicle, which is a Rage Plugin Hook function. It may not detect those.

I tried it a second time.. it seemed to work. i got the weapons.. however the animation made my character end up looking like he climbed into the rear trunk/hatch.. how odd.

If the vehicle is longer than an average car, the character will essentially teleport to get to the search location. This is because I can't detect the vehicle's size in my scripts, making it hard to compensate for larger-than-normal vehicles.

How do I change the Key in which I use to search vehicles? I've gone through the config file and changed the G to just about everything in the alphabet and it still reverts back to G every single time. Frustrating.

It's just a textfile... are you opening and editing it as an administrator?
