Vehicle Search - Search a suspect's vehicle! 2.1.7

(49 reviews)

8 Screenshots

This plugin is obsolete; you should download PoliceSearch instead.

Information

From the time LSPDFR first came out, I wanted to add a bit more variety to what you could do.

This does just that.

Just detained a suspect and want to check their car for anything else you can charge them for? Simply go to any door of their car and press 'G' to search it. You can search the hood, trunk, and doors of a car. After a second or two, a notification will pop up, displaying what you found, if anything. This could be anything from some alcohol to license plates to a weapon. It's not just limited to just one item, either. You could find a weapon and some drugs, or maybe this guy likes to steal and has license plates, forged ID cards, and another vehicle's registration. If you've already searched a vehicle, then it will notify you of that, and list the items you found. If you accidentally search a car when you don't want to, press the search key again or just use a movement key and it will cancel the search.

In addition, you can pull out equipment from your trunk, such as rifles, body armor, and med-kits, in case a situation becomes more than just a small handgun can handle.

If you want another option in how you handle a situation, than this is for you. I hope you enjoy!

This plugin also has controller support. Just press left on the DPad by default to search a vehicle.

Installation and Usage

You need the Rage Plugin Hook for this to work. The newest version has been tested with Rage Plugin Hook v0.34.862.6641 ONLY and may not work with older versions.

When you have that installed, drop both the .dll and the .ini into your Plugins folder. Once you're in-game, press F4 to bring up the Rage Hook console, and type 'LoadPlugin VehicleSearch.dll' (without the apostrophes). If you're running an older Rage Hook, it will probably say something about the plugin not being verified. Just hit the up arrow, and then enter again. It should load correctly. After that, simply press the search key (default 'G' / 'LeftDPad') when near a vehicle's door to search it.

Configuration

In the included .ini file, you can edit things such as the button/key mapping, what items you can find, and the odds of finding an item. For more advanced users, you can change the animation your character uses as he searches.

Planned Features

  • Integration with FinKone's Police Radio K9

Credit

I'd of course like to credit G17 Media for creating LSPDFR, and the creators of the Rage Plugin Hook: for the hook itself, and for providing a ton of example code.

I'd also like to give due credit to FinKone, who gave me help with positioning code, and for his own plugin, Police Radio.

Please, give me any bug or crash reports. I'll try my best to fix them. I'd like suggestions on what I could add to the mod. If you have a great idea of something that would work well with the system already in place, then go ahead and tell me; if I think it would fit well, then I'll do my best to add it.

I've uploaded a video of the plugin in action which you can view here. This is of the first version, so keep that in mind.

What's New in Version 2.1.7

Released

  • Updated to work with Rage Plugin Hook v0.34.862.6641

You might want to check and see if you can update all of @Albo1125's plugins as well.

Im having issues with the amount of items im finding a search, usually consists of a dead body and a few weapons every time i search.

i have modified the values in the .ini but its not making any difference for me, here is what i have in the .ini, maybe im doing something wrong.

[ItemSettings]
// The odds of finding an item. Should be at least 2. Default is 1 out of 8 chance, which means there's a 1/8 chance of finding an item.
// Default: 40 (1 out of 8 chance, has to be an integer)
ItemFindChance=1

You should change the value after ItemFindChance= instead.

What's your item find decay at? Right below item find chance. You will find something every time because of you having the item find chance at 1/1 so if you have the item decay at 1 then you'll find a multitude of items at once. I recommend setting the item decay to 10.

I pull over a pedestrian. I arrest him and attempt to search his vehicle.

Pressing G near his trunk does nothing. Pressing G near my trunk does nothing. Every other mod works, just not this one.

I am running a legal version (Steam) of GTA V and I'm running on the latest versions of LSPFR, RPH, and GTA V. I have not modified the INI in any way and Windows User Privileges is not blocking the mod. My antivirus is not blocking the mod. I have it installed correctly in the plugins (yes, lower case P) folder generated by RPH. I have used RPH to launch my game. None of my mods interfere with LSPDFR or any other possible function.

Am I doing something wrong? I can't figure out why this isn't working.

EDIT: "- Type 'LoadPlugin VehicleSearch.dll' without the apostrophes."

Well, I completely missed that. By the way, is there any way to have the mod automatically load?

When loading rho click the tool bolt at the bottom left, click on plugins when the settings popup, and either choose which plugins to load or click load all plugins then save and launch.

Had to make a comment just saying that your report is perfect. I wish more people would go this in-depth when reporting a problem.

Is there any way to replace the weapons I retrieve on my patrol car trunk? I'd like to change the default rifle for the Advanced Rifle, because I like it =]

That will hopefully be implemented in a later update, according to @FtDLulz.

@FtDLulz, v2.1.7 seems to be ignoring the modifier key for me completely. (I've set the modifier key to LShiftKey, but it searches the vehicle even if I press G without the shift key)

Yes, a very old version. I recommend updating to 2.0 which is being released as I am writing this. (REPLACE THE WHOLE .INI THEN SET YOUR KEYBIND @Stealth22)

Your error is related to HEROCOP. Remove it or install the latest version that came out today.

I don't see anything related to this mod, but check your .ini, if using a modifier make sure it's LControlKey, or LShiftKey.

That crash isn't related to Vehicle Search. It looks like it's from @Eddlm's Safer Chases plugin, judging by the method names.

Confirmed. Latest version shouldn't have crashes, though.

So I am getting an error every single time I go to search a vehicle... This error crashes the plugin! This also happens with your pedSearch whenever I get near a ped. For this plugin, I go to a car, press G and get the error shown in the attaches screenshot! What seems to be the problem?

Thanks,

-Nick

PS: In case it's important, I am using LSPDFR 0.3 with RPH .36 (I tried with .34 and same thing happened)

You are running version 2.0.6 which is quite an old version. Upgrade to v2.1.7 (latest) and see how that works.

Wow, thank you very much! It turns out that I downloaded the latest version, but I also downloaded that addon which adds 300+ items to searches, and it includes an old version of the file. I guess I accidentally dragged both the ini and the dll in to the plugins folder from that addon when I only wanted to drag the ini!

Thanks for the help!
