Information

From the time LSPDFR first came out, I wanted to add a bit more variety to what you could do.

This does just that.

Just detained a suspect and want to check their car for anything else you can charge them for? Simply go to any door of their car and press 'G' to search it. You can search the hood, trunk, and doors of a car. After a second or two, a notification will pop up, displaying what you found, if anything. This could be anything from some alcohol to license plates to a weapon. It's not just limited to just one item, either. You could find a weapon and some drugs, or maybe this guy likes to steal and has license plates, forged ID cards, and another vehicle's registration. If you've already searched a vehicle, then it will notify you of that, and list the items you found. If you accidentally search a car when you don't want to, press the search key again or just use a movement key and it will cancel the search.

In addition, you can pull out equipment from your trunk, such as rifles, body armor, and med-kits, in case a situation becomes more than just a small handgun can handle.

This plugin also has controller support. Just press left on the DPad by default to search a vehicle.

Installation and Usage

You need the Rage Plugin Hook for this to work. The newest version has been tested with Rage Plugin Hook v0.34.862.6641 ONLY and may not work with older versions.

When you have that installed, drop both the .dll and the .ini into your Plugins folder. Once you're in-game, press F4 to bring up the Rage Hook console, and type 'LoadPlugin VehicleSearch.dll' (without the apostrophes). If you're running an older Rage Hook, it will probably say something about the plugin not being verified. Just hit the up arrow, and then enter again. It should load correctly. After that, simply press the search key (default 'G' / 'LeftDPad') when near a vehicle's door to search it.

Configuration

In the included .ini file, you can edit things such as the button/key mapping, what items you can find, and the odds of finding an item. For more advanced users, you can change the animation your character uses as he searches.

I'd of course like to credit G17 Media for creating LSPDFR, and the creators of the Rage Plugin Hook: for the hook itself, and for providing a ton of example code.

Please, give me any bug or crash reports. I'll try my best to fix them. I'd like suggestions on what I could add to the mod. If you have a great idea of something that would work well with the system already in place, then go ahead and tell me; if I think it would fit well, then I'll do my best to add it.

I've uploaded a video of the plugin in action which you can view here. This is of the first version, so keep that in mind.

Any time I keep the hotkey to default G, or add the LShiftKey modifier, it freaks out and crashes the game. If I set the keyboard settings to None, and set the Controller to DPadLeft, it works.

Love the mod! Little question though, I play with a DS4 ad have tried changing the control from Left Dpad to None since it always opens the radio and I'd rather just hit the keyboard, but it still uses the L Dpad... Any hunches as to what I'm doing wrong?

I can't get it to search the vehicle! I made it control G and when I go up to the vehicle, any doors, and hit Control G, it won't search it. I tried it all over the vehicle...:(

Whenever I search the trunk of my police car it only gives me a carbine rifle, no shotgun, pistol, stun gun, or armor. How can I fix this?

Did you make sure the plugin was loaded? Send me your .ini file if you still haven't gotten it to work.

LSPDFR automatically gives you a shotgun, pistol, and stun gun, which is why my mod doesn't and only gives you a rifle. I'll change it in a future version to give you these weapons if you don't have them.

For some reason using a keyboard modifier doesn't work so you have to just use a single key.

I'm working on a new plugin called PoliceSearch (thanks, Albo!) that combines both VehicleSearch and PedSearch. This will make it easier to update and fix than the two separate plugins. It will also have a sort of API, allowing any plugin developers to add/remove items from vehicles and peds.

Love the plugin, but i cant deactivate the controller button mappings. It is set to Left DPad and that is the same as Police radio which starts to get very annoying when im running plates. i have set teh binding to "None" with no spaces, but it still doesnt work

Here are my ini files for first ped then vehicle, i have tried with and with out spaces between = and None

There should be no spaces before or after 'None' in the binds. In addition, I'm pretty sure 'Control' should be 'LControlKey' or 'RControlKey' but if it works for you that's fine.

You are using an old .ini file -- try re-downloading the Search mod and replace your .ini file with the one in the download, then copy-paste your items to the new file and reset your binds.

be careful when you copy and paste your items, it may cause unnecessary spaces, or misspelling. it happened to me somehow on a trafficpolicer ini, Mimickme is not the same as mimicme.

If you look in the .ini files they tell you what default keys to use
