Information

From the time LSPDFR first came out, I wanted to add a bit more variety to what you could do.

This does just that.

Just detained a suspect and want to check their car for anything else you can charge them for? Simply go to any door of their car and press 'G' to search it. You can search the hood, trunk, and doors of a car. After a second or two, a notification will pop up, displaying what you found, if anything. This could be anything from some alcohol to license plates to a weapon. It's not just limited to just one item, either. You could find a weapon and some drugs, or maybe this guy likes to steal and has license plates, forged ID cards, and another vehicle's registration. If you've already searched a vehicle, then it will notify you of that, and list the items you found. If you accidentally search a car when you don't want to, press the search key again or just use a movement key and it will cancel the search.

In addition, you can pull out equipment from your trunk, such as rifles, body armor, and med-kits, in case a situation becomes more than just a small handgun can handle.

This plugin also has controller support. Just press left on the DPad by default to search a vehicle.

Installation and Usage

You need the Rage Plugin Hook for this to work. The newest version has been tested with Rage Plugin Hook v0.34.862.6641 ONLY and may not work with older versions.

When you have that installed, drop both the .dll and the .ini into your Plugins folder. Once you're in-game, press F4 to bring up the Rage Hook console, and type 'LoadPlugin VehicleSearch.dll' (without the apostrophes). If you're running an older Rage Hook, it will probably say something about the plugin not being verified. Just hit the up arrow, and then enter again. It should load correctly. After that, simply press the search key (default 'G' / 'LeftDPad') when near a vehicle's door to search it.

Configuration

In the included .ini file, you can edit things such as the button/key mapping, what items you can find, and the odds of finding an item. For more advanced users, you can change the animation your character uses as he searches.

Please, give me any bug or crash reports. I'll try my best to fix them. I'd like suggestions on what I could add to the mod. If you have a great idea of something that would work well with the system already in place, then go ahead and tell me; if I think it would fit well, then I'll do my best to add it.

I've uploaded a video of the plugin in action which you can view here. This is of the first version, so keep that in mind.

Cause it's a bad hood, ya dig? :wink:

I have this happen to doors, but I'm not sure why - possibly some collision between the hood (or door) and your character? It attempts to open, fails, and goes to pop open, and if you are still in the way it simply breaks down and confess all to the rain... Er, it simply breaks, I meant.

Worked fine until day. didn't change anything in my files, but all over sudden it doesn't react to my commands. re-installed it. now it keeps crashing. Not correct ENUM type (i think) was the error rage console showed me (everything on latest version)

Post your RagePluginHook log file, maybe the answer is in there.

alright... all over sudden it is working again but i cannot search my unmarked cruiser's trunk (for armor etc.)

How did you guys solve this issue? I am having the same problem and cannot search vehicles. My log also says Correct errormessage is: Vehicle Search v2.1.7: System.ArgumentException: The specified type is not an Enum Type.

Hi, it looks like I had a bad modifier key in place. I've fixed it now and it works :)

I just updated to latest RPH and it's crashing me as well with this at the end:

[7/15/2016 19:20:32.891] Vehicle Search v2.1.7: System.ArgumentException: The specified type is not an Enum type.

it's always done that, that particular message doesn't cause a crash though.

May not be because of the mod...I took it out and it's still crashing with absolutely no error in the log..

It crashes each time you start... Vehicle Search? Or every time you just start GTA V? If it's the latter you should go to the Support forums. I don't see any crashes in that log.

so, as always updated to the latest RPH and GTA and i get never ending crashes to the desktop not sure if this is down to Vehicle Search but any chance someone could have a look at my log?

Looking at that log... you aren't even loading Vehicle Search.

There is also no crash being logged by RPH.

That sounds like a very strange problem. Are you sure it's my plugin that's the problem? Can you give yourself the rifle using a trainer and see if you can fire it then?
