Police Tape 3.2

(25 reviews)

1 Screenshot

It's Los Santos... people get shot, people get run over, things catch fire... and it's usually all your fault. Eventually, you need to do something to keep nosy bystanders out of your business. Ever wished you could quickly close off a freeway so no cars can get by? Ever wanted to block off the scene of a dead body so that curious pedestrians couldn't tell who exactly shot them? Perhaps you just want to peacefully do some construction work, but oblivious drivers keep driving into your work zone. Or maybe you're fighting a fire, and need to stop rubberneckers from wandering into harm's way.

No matter what you do in Los Santos, Police Tape is here to keep everyone else out of your way.

  • Featuring dynamic tape with cloth physics that blows in the wind

  • Aim-and-click tape and barrier placement lets you attach tape to any surface

  • Built-in advanced traffic control stops even the stupidest San Andreas drivers

  • Ped path blocking prevents most ambient peds from crossing police lines, while allowing backup, medics, coroners, and suspects to keep going

  • Full API lets plugin and callout creators add tape to their own scenes

  • Tape import/export system lets you save your tape and include saved tape scenes in callouts

  • Tape management menu to delete individual strands of tape and manage traffic control

  • Customize your tape texture to get different text or patterns

  • LML support to install scripts and police tape model files, DLC option if you prefer

KNOWN ISSUE: The tape sometimes droops through the ground, especially when there is not much wind or with longer pieces of tape. User more barriers and shorter pieces of tape to help reduce this effect. This is due to the limitations of what cloth physics can do in zmodeler/GTA V. Version 2.0 adds static tape models which do not sag as an option. You can choose for each strand whether to use static or dynamic tape.

KNOWN ISSUE: If you are having issues with changing the keybindings in the INI not taking effect in the game, add a single blank line at the top of your INI file.

KNOWN ISSUE: You may need to install a modified gameconfig.xml, depending on your version of GTA V. If you already have a modified gameconfig.xml to support add-on vehicles, you should be OK. If you haven't before and your game crashes on startup after installing Police Tape, you need to install a custom gameconfig. You can use the following LML package to install a compatible Gameconfig file:

What's New in Version 3.2

Released

Version 3.2:

  • Recompiled for latest game version due to changed GameControl enum.

  • Only for RageNativeUI 1.124+ and GTA V 3717+. For older versions, use version 3.1.

Previous updates:

Spoiler

Version 3.1:

  • Fixed possible crash when deleting individual tape strands from the tape management menu.

  • Updated to RageNativeUI 1.8.1

Version 3.0:

  • Added the much-requested option to spawn just barricades without any police tape attached to them. This is available by entering the tape placement mode, selecting a barricade, and middle-clicking to spawn a barricade by itself, or left-clicking to spawn with tape attached.

  • Updated to RageNativeUI 1.7. Please make sure this file is up to date.

  • Added INI options to enable "alternate texture", "static tape", and "continuous mode" checkboxes by default.

  • Optimized performance of traffic control checks to significantly reduce the FPS impact when there are many tape strands spawned.

  • Added DLC installation option. LML is still recommended, but the DLC is available for those who prefer it.

Version 2.1:

  • Fixed bug causing INI Keybindings section to not be read correctly

  • Clarified instructions for installing alternate police tape textures

  • Updated for compatibility with new ParksTools.dll version

Version 2.0:

  • Added static tape option

  • Updated API

  • Improved traffic control algorithms

  • Added support for new versions of ParksTools.dll and for Coastal Callouts

  • Improved Police Tape menu

  • Other misc bug fixes

Did you install a gameconfig, and did you install the most recent version of LML after the recent GTA update?

No gameconfigs installed , and I didnt installed any LML because I didnt know i needed that too since I installed the mod manually.

OK, if you installed it as a DLC that is fine, you don't need to install LML for that. You do need to install a gameconfig and heap adjuster mod, they are required for any mod that adds new models to the game.

Hi there. I really love this mod, it helps quite a lot with scene control. I believe this mod is meant to let emergency vehicles pass through the tape, but with my game, the emergency vehicles stop right on the tape line. Is there any way to fix this?

Thanks and keep up the awesome work!!

I have managed to install the mod , and actually run it , it works perfectly , the only problem is that , its lagging my whole game and I cant go past 30 fps even though i have a pretty strong pc , after I removed police tape the game stopped lagging .

It may be more performant for you if you disable the traffic control feature. Unfortunately, stopping traffic is very CPU intensive because it must rapidly process all vehicles in the game repeatedly.

Hey man,

When I first installed this mod I never noticed its usefulness (thought of it more like a cosmetic change more than a functionality for traffic) until now, whereas I cannot install it (using LML) as it crashes when launching GTA V. This is probably due to update 2628. Would you have any fix for such issue or/and when will there be an update for the appropriate version?

Thanks.

I haven't updated my game yet, but there was a new LML update recently. Make sure you download that update for LML, which is required for GTA version 2162.

Tried that, and it still crashes LSPDFR on the loading screen. I have found that I had auto-update enabled on epic games, so I turned it off, now all that's left to do is to hope that you would soon release a new version of your plugin. Thanks.

Edit: The reason for the crashes is probably due to the RAGENativeUI 1.8.3 update, which policetape doesn't support as of right now.

You should download the most recent version of RageNativeUI from github. It will work with Police Tape. https://github.com/alexguirre/RAGENativeUI/releases/tag/1.8.2

Even after installing 1.8.2, it crashes LSPDFR like always, any more tips? 😞

Since I really want this plugin back I'll do you one better, I recorded the point at when it crashed and got the log.

RagePluginHook.log

(At 3:11 it might seem like the EUP plugin causes the crash, but it works without police tape perfectly)

OK, so the issue is not with the Police Tape plugin, it's with the addon models. If you launch the game through Steam (or however you have it installed) without RagePluginHook, does it also crash when you have the Police Tape props installed? What if you load RagePluginHook without auto-loading plugins?

I was devastated when this did not work for me. I followed the steps as above, also installed the modified gameconfig and it unfortunately still crashes.

Yep, GTA V story mode without rage works alright.

as well without any plugins attached to rage:

If you load LSPDFR using the LoadPlugin command in the console, after launching RPH without any auto-loaded plugins, then are does it still crash? I just tested and police tape loads fine, and LSPDFR loads fine, in the latest game version w/ the latest RPH+LSPDFR versions. If you're still having issues, you might try installing the DLC option instead of the LML option, but I don't think it should make a difference either way.

Alright, decided that I will install it using the DLC and openiv way, following this tutorial:

I'll keep you posted.

(By the way, when dragging the files into the GTAV directory folder, I DIDN'T replace the RagePluginHookUI.dll file)

LSPDFR still crashes, even with DLC mode, and also when going into RAGE without any plugins and manually starting LSPDFR, that crashes too. Seems like LSPDFR and police tape dont like each other.

Same issue here. I did everything in that video, still breaks my game.

Yeah, if @PNWParksFan would update the plugin, that would be marvelous. Thanks!

There's nothing for me to update if I can't replicate this issue or figure out what is causing it. As I said, it's working fine for me. What version of the game are you guys using (Steam, Retail, or Epic)? Can you upload your lspdfr.ini file so I can see if that makes any difference?

@LMS can you tell what native LSPDFR is calling on this line which might be causing the crash?

I think it's the call to load MP maps (0x0888C3502DBBEEF5). This usually indicates something broken with some game files, but you probably know that better than me anyway. See if setting "Main.DisableMultiplayerMap" to true works for them, then we know for sure it is the MP maps call.

OK. I will test with enabling MP maps and see if I can reproduce the issue. Thanks!

I got Epic version of GTAV, with version 2628.2

No issues with MP mode on Steam. Can you try loading into the game with RPH and without LSPDFR, then run the following in the RPH console:

execute "NativeFunction.Natives.x0888C3502DBBEEF5();"

If that does cause the crash, try going into lspdfr.ini and set Main.DisableMultiplayerMap = true. You should then be able to load into LSPDFR without it forcing the MP map which might cause the crash.

Can you also link to which gameconfig you are using please?
