Police Tape 3.2

(25 reviews)

1 Screenshot

It's Los Santos... people get shot, people get run over, things catch fire... and it's usually all your fault. Eventually, you need to do something to keep nosy bystanders out of your business. Ever wished you could quickly close off a freeway so no cars can get by? Ever wanted to block off the scene of a dead body so that curious pedestrians couldn't tell who exactly shot them? Perhaps you just want to peacefully do some construction work, but oblivious drivers keep driving into your work zone. Or maybe you're fighting a fire, and need to stop rubberneckers from wandering into harm's way.

No matter what you do in Los Santos, Police Tape is here to keep everyone else out of your way.

  • Featuring dynamic tape with cloth physics that blows in the wind

  • Aim-and-click tape and barrier placement lets you attach tape to any surface

  • Built-in advanced traffic control stops even the stupidest San Andreas drivers

  • Ped path blocking prevents most ambient peds from crossing police lines, while allowing backup, medics, coroners, and suspects to keep going

  • Full API lets plugin and callout creators add tape to their own scenes

  • Tape import/export system lets you save your tape and include saved tape scenes in callouts

  • Tape management menu to delete individual strands of tape and manage traffic control

  • Customize your tape texture to get different text or patterns

  • LML support to install scripts and police tape model files, DLC option if you prefer

KNOWN ISSUE: The tape sometimes droops through the ground, especially when there is not much wind or with longer pieces of tape. User more barriers and shorter pieces of tape to help reduce this effect. This is due to the limitations of what cloth physics can do in zmodeler/GTA V. Version 2.0 adds static tape models which do not sag as an option. You can choose for each strand whether to use static or dynamic tape.

KNOWN ISSUE: If you are having issues with changing the keybindings in the INI not taking effect in the game, add a single blank line at the top of your INI file.

KNOWN ISSUE: You may need to install a modified gameconfig.xml, depending on your version of GTA V. If you already have a modified gameconfig.xml to support add-on vehicles, you should be OK. If you haven't before and your game crashes on startup after installing Police Tape, you need to install a custom gameconfig. You can use the following LML package to install a compatible Gameconfig file:

What's New in Version 3.2

Released

Version 3.2:

  • Recompiled for latest game version due to changed GameControl enum.

  • Only for RageNativeUI 1.124+ and GTA V 3717+. For older versions, use version 3.1.

Previous updates:

Spoiler

Version 3.1:

  • Fixed possible crash when deleting individual tape strands from the tape management menu.

  • Updated to RageNativeUI 1.8.1

Version 3.0:

  • Added the much-requested option to spawn just barricades without any police tape attached to them. This is available by entering the tape placement mode, selecting a barricade, and middle-clicking to spawn a barricade by itself, or left-clicking to spawn with tape attached.

  • Updated to RageNativeUI 1.7. Please make sure this file is up to date.

  • Added INI options to enable "alternate texture", "static tape", and "continuous mode" checkboxes by default.

  • Optimized performance of traffic control checks to significantly reduce the FPS impact when there are many tape strands spawned.

  • Added DLC installation option. LML is still recommended, but the DLC is available for those who prefer it.

Version 2.1:

  • Fixed bug causing INI Keybindings section to not be read correctly

  • Clarified instructions for installing alternate police tape textures

  • Updated for compatibility with new ParksTools.dll version

Version 2.0:

  • Added static tape option

  • Updated API

  • Improved traffic control algorithms

  • Added support for new versions of ParksTools.dll and for Coastal Callouts

  • Improved Police Tape menu

  • Other misc bug fixes

Excuse me, I meet a problem shown in the two picture. And if I remove Police Tape script, they will disappear.

It looks like you somehow ended up with a debug build of RageNativeUI on your system. Try downloading the latest version here and copying RageNativeUI.dll to your GTA V folder: https://github.com/alexguirre/RAGENativeUI/releases

Thank you very much, now this problem is fixed.

Next version will be much more efficient and should not cause as much performance impact.

Sounds like you didn't install the LML package properly.

I don't currently have controller button options to open the menu, but this is something I can look into for the next update.

Hey, thanks for your comment, my apologies for not getting back on here sooner, i am just checking if there is a possibility of a controller button combo to open the police tape menu, or to start using it?

I much prefer controller and that would be amazing! thank you for all the work you do, i am loving this mod!

Howdy!

I'm using the latest version of LSPDFR, everything is up to date with the latest releases. This mod seems to not work for some reason, not sure where the log is if you need it either. Help a brother out?

Hey there!
So I installed the mod using LML. But it doesn't seem to do anything. I tried Ctrl + j/h/g but it did nothing. I searched for any kind of .ini but it just isn't there (it's enabled to be shown in the file explorer). Can someone help me?
Thank you in advance

Did you install and load the plugin?

That's what I did:

  1. Opened up LML
  2. Clicked on 'Download with Modmanager' on the Website
  3. It downloaded
  4. It said 'Installed' in LML
  5. See Screenshot

Better EMS and EUP are loading
Had to install Computer+ manually, wouldn't load either
And yes, I know the Gameconfig is disabled, that's because it crashes my game when I try to start it with that enabled. But since other mods (which also say they require that) are loading with it disabled, it shouldn't be a problem I guess.
Thanks for you help, very appreciate it^^
PS: I'm very, very new to LML and didn't have the best experience with it in the past, but decided to give it another try... Sorry if I'm just too dumb to use it.

You have installed the LML package, which puts the police tape models in the game. You also need to install the plugin, which lets you actually do things with the models. Check in you Plugins folder to see if there is a PoliceTape.dll in there. Then you need to load your game with RagePluginHook and either select Police Tape as one of the plugins to load automatically at startup, or load it manually from the console in game by typing LoadPlugin PoliceTape.dll.

My police tape mod doesn't work, it just always tells me that my DLCPACK is not installed correctly, which I know for a fact is not true. So can you help me?

Sounds like you haven't installed the DLC correctly 😉

Please upload a screenshot showing how you installed the DLC, and your log showing the error message.

I immediately delete any mod that brings a pop up menu right when I enter the game.

I installed the mod manually and followed an installation video too , but the game is crashing without any RPH log , it just exits.

RageNativeUI is updated to the latest version.

Please help.

Did you install a gameconfig, and did you install the most recent version of LML after the recent GTA update?
