SuspectSense is a groundbreaking LSPDFR plugin that transforms frustrating suspect searches into engaging, dynamic police work. No more blindly searching vast areas! When a suspect flees, SuspectSense provides immersive clues to guide you, making every hunt feel more alive, cinematic, and rewarding.

Features

Installation

  1. Extract the contents of the ZIP file.

  2. Copy everything from the 'Grand Theft Auto V' folder directly into your main GTAV directory.

    • This includes the plugins folder with SuspectSense.dll and plugins/LSPDFR/SuspectSense.ini.

Configuration (SuspectSense.ini)

You can customize SuspectSense to fit your playstyle:

[Settings]

  • Enable/disable plugin

  • Set ClueFrequencySeconds

  • Set MaxClueDistance

  • Set WitnessSpawnDistance

  • Set MaxWitnesses

[ClueTypes]

  • Enable/disable Notification, Map Marker, and Witness NPC clues

  • Adjust their _Chance (0-100) to prioritize certain clue types

[ClueDetails]

  • ClueDetailLevel: "Vague", "Medium", or "Specific" for hint precision

  • ShowNotifications: toggles all on-screen text

  • EnableDebugLogging: helps troubleshoot

How It Works

  • Activates when a pursuit ends and the suspect is still at large, or when a suspect flees from your immediate vicinity.

  • Begins generating clues based on your configured frequency and clue types, helping you track suspects efficiently.

Great question!

 

SuspectSense is designed to activate when a suspect is lost during a pursuit (meaning the pursuit itself is no longer active, but the suspect is still at large and you've lost track of them) or after the pursuit has officially concluded and the suspect has gotten away, leaving you in a search scenario.

It essentially kicks in when you're no longer actively chasing but still need to find them.

    Understood, thank you for clearing that up. Would having escaped criminal encounter disabled in LSPDFR ini cause issues as I'm not sure how your continuing to track peds outside of a pursuit? Perhaps you'll consider a 'hardcore' mode whereby the suspect blip is hidden entirely during pursuits-- having to rely on Player visual and your hints throughout. You've come up with good ideas for plugins, keep it up m8.

    To clarify: SuspectSense is designed to activate when a suspect is lost during a pursuit or after a pursuit has officially concluded and the suspect is still at large. Essentially, it kicks in when you're no longer in an active chase but still need to find them.

     

    Regarding 'escaped criminal encounter' in LSPDFR's INI: No, disabling LSPDFR's 'escaped criminal encounter' setting should not cause issues with SuspectSense. My plugin tracks the suspect using its own logic based on the pursuit's end or when the suspect flees. So, you can safely disable LSPDFR's default system if you prefer to rely solely on SuspectSense for your manhunts!

     

    And a 'hardcore' mode to hide the suspect blip during pursuits? That's an absolutely brilliant idea for immersion! I love it. I'll definitely add that to the roadmap for a future update

    Thank you for implementing my idea! Fantastic. I would ask if you can have a mode to just hide suspects blips only when they have eluded (lostlonger) as some devs  don’t account for this with their plugins and so ambient event/callout blips persist… Many thanks. I would also suggest having two distinct setting profiles to account for hardcore mode (separate config values for hint/makers/blip display frequency/clue detail when the suspect position is technically known by lspdfr and when in lostlonger state) as it might be near impossible to manage with pursuits.

    Hi SilverLaw99,

    I've tested all available versions of Suspect Sense, and the plugin loads perfectly in-game via RAGEPluginHook. No error messages appear, and everything seems to load correctly.

    However, during my LSPDFR patrols, the plugin doesn't appear to activate: no search zones, no clues, no witnesses even after letting a suspect escape. I've double-checked the .ini file, enabled debug logging, tried loading the plugin manually, and disabled other mods—but nothing seems to work.

    Would it be possible to add a few screenshots showing what the plugin's notifications or clues look like in-game? That would really help clarify what to expect and confirm whether the plugin is functioning as intended.
