Police Tape 3.2

(25 reviews)

1 Screenshot

It's Los Santos... people get shot, people get run over, things catch fire... and it's usually all your fault. Eventually, you need to do something to keep nosy bystanders out of your business. Ever wished you could quickly close off a freeway so no cars can get by? Ever wanted to block off the scene of a dead body so that curious pedestrians couldn't tell who exactly shot them? Perhaps you just want to peacefully do some construction work, but oblivious drivers keep driving into your work zone. Or maybe you're fighting a fire, and need to stop rubberneckers from wandering into harm's way.

No matter what you do in Los Santos, Police Tape is here to keep everyone else out of your way.

  • Featuring dynamic tape with cloth physics that blows in the wind

  • Aim-and-click tape and barrier placement lets you attach tape to any surface

  • Built-in advanced traffic control stops even the stupidest San Andreas drivers

  • Ped path blocking prevents most ambient peds from crossing police lines, while allowing backup, medics, coroners, and suspects to keep going

  • Full API lets plugin and callout creators add tape to their own scenes

  • Tape import/export system lets you save your tape and include saved tape scenes in callouts

  • Tape management menu to delete individual strands of tape and manage traffic control

  • Customize your tape texture to get different text or patterns

  • LML support to install scripts and police tape model files, DLC option if you prefer

KNOWN ISSUE: The tape sometimes droops through the ground, especially when there is not much wind or with longer pieces of tape. User more barriers and shorter pieces of tape to help reduce this effect. This is due to the limitations of what cloth physics can do in zmodeler/GTA V. Version 2.0 adds static tape models which do not sag as an option. You can choose for each strand whether to use static or dynamic tape.

KNOWN ISSUE: If you are having issues with changing the keybindings in the INI not taking effect in the game, add a single blank line at the top of your INI file.

KNOWN ISSUE: You may need to install a modified gameconfig.xml, depending on your version of GTA V. If you already have a modified gameconfig.xml to support add-on vehicles, you should be OK. If you haven't before and your game crashes on startup after installing Police Tape, you need to install a custom gameconfig. You can use the following LML package to install a compatible Gameconfig file:

What's New in Version 3.2

Released

Version 3.2:

  • Recompiled for latest game version due to changed GameControl enum.

  • Only for RageNativeUI 1.124+ and GTA V 3717+. For older versions, use version 3.1.

Previous updates:

Spoiler

Version 3.1:

  • Fixed possible crash when deleting individual tape strands from the tape management menu.

  • Updated to RageNativeUI 1.8.1

Version 3.0:

  • Added the much-requested option to spawn just barricades without any police tape attached to them. This is available by entering the tape placement mode, selecting a barricade, and middle-clicking to spawn a barricade by itself, or left-clicking to spawn with tape attached.

  • Updated to RageNativeUI 1.7. Please make sure this file is up to date.

  • Added INI options to enable "alternate texture", "static tape", and "continuous mode" checkboxes by default.

  • Optimized performance of traffic control checks to significantly reduce the FPS impact when there are many tape strands spawned.

  • Added DLC installation option. LML is still recommended, but the DLC is available for those who prefer it.

Version 2.1:

  • Fixed bug causing INI Keybindings section to not be read correctly

  • Clarified instructions for installing alternate police tape textures

  • Updated for compatibility with new ParksTools.dll version

Version 2.0:

  • Added static tape option

  • Updated API

  • Improved traffic control algorithms

  • Added support for new versions of ParksTools.dll and for Coastal Callouts

  • Improved Police Tape menu

  • Other misc bug fixes

This is a brilliant mod, however, the READ ME files inside are shocking imo. Overall it's very confusing. How do you replace a texture without using LML? Doesn't say or if it does, it's too confusing...

This seems like a very good plugin. I wish it would work when pushing the keybinds. Shift+G or Shift+H.

Has anyone got this mod working with a controller? I use an Xbox One Controller for the game and it is a pain having to go to the keyboard each time i need some tape.

Once i press Shift H to bring up the tape and then using my controller with the controller prompts though i can't seem to figure out how to actually open the tape initially with the controller.

I have had a look at the PoliceTape.ini but it doesn't seem to support controller buttons only keys.

Can anyone clarify for me please?  Thank you for your time.

[9/26/2020 3:30:04 PM.884] Police Tape: Unable to load police tape props: Cannot load invalid model with hash 0x3c3b7e04.

And

Error occured loading prop models for Police Tape. Mod will exit.

 That's  my problem.

Hey mate this mod has literally changed the way I handle scenes, I love it! I am having a few issues where when I am on general patrol I get FPS drops, and when I place the tape my FPS halves (from my fixed 62fps to around 36 depending on how much tape is placed). Is there any fix for this?

Next version will be much more efficient and should not cause as much performance impact.

Sounds like you didn't install the LML package properly.

I don't currently have controller button options to open the menu, but this is something I can look into for the next update.

does anyone have a problem with the PT with the rockstar editor to take picture? style, that the tape goes beyond barriers (deformation).file:///C:/Program Files (x86)/Steam/userdata/888995500/760/remote/14150306434344026112/screenshots/20201009065748_1.jpg

This is a known issue. To fit the tape to whatever custom position you place it in, a prop is resized dynamically in memory at runtime. The script is not running when you load R* editor, and R* editor only records the world position of the prop, not the in-memory scaling.

There is an option in the Police Tape menu to Remove Tape.

I am having issues using the continuous tape mode, I have it enabled but it will not keep the barrier I select, it goes back to the press (keys) to go back to placing tape. and goes back to the beginning of the barrier selections.

You have to keep the aim button held down when placing barriers, even in continuous mode.

Didn't it be use to be able to continue placing barriers after the two that you sat down with tape on it?  I would like the ability to continue placing barriers without having to keep going into the barrier placement menu because I have already sat two (with tape) down if I do one without tape then it automatically goes back to the placement screen.  At least a checkbox that will allow non-stop barriers while still holding aim and middle mouse button for tapeless barriers.  After every barrier it closes even while still holding aim.

Seems to be working just fine for me. Note the controls have changed, it's left click to place a barrier with tape, and middle click to place a barrier without tape.

Ok, at least I know nothing has changed on your end.  I'll see what I can come up with on my end just in case someone else has this issue.  Thanks.

Well, I feel like an idiot.  It was in the policetape.ini file the option "AutoExitAfterFirstTape = false"  I had it set to true.  Sorry for wasting your time.
