it somewhat sounds familiar to what i experienced. I dont know if GFWL is still that stupid nowadays. I have avoided and i dont think i have purchased a GFWL game since. So no idea if they improved it... Do you have the Steam version of GTA IV? If you don't you can try anyways i guess.. I may be wrong in describing it, i'm no techie anymore.. The game installation puts in the original or some default distributable of GFWL which could be months or years old. When you try to start the game and set up your cd/game key, it will not accept your legitimate key until GFWL is the latest LIVE version that everyone else has. And again when you start the game it will always try to verify if it is legitmately logged with a CD/Game key before it allows you to proceed any further. It pretty much interrupts, blocks you from the next step which is auto update for the GFWL client. CATCH 22. It will never get through. (took me many, many hours, good part of a day and a half to get my game working. I could not believe how stupidly lame they linked the authentication process... so i didn't clue in right away.) Manually searching for the newest GFWL downloadable and installing yourself is the only way to bypass. If you are a new PC gamer or console gamer, i totally understand being lost. Because you have to search for the correct/latest GFWL downloadable, download and save to your computer somewhere. Then look for the executable and start installation. It will prompt you about this and that before it is done. So you have to have a GFWL account, steam account and a Rockstar Social club login if you want to play multiplayer. I hope it helps you out. And you know, you might have a different issue altogether which would suck. Good luck,, just trying to help where i can.

Are you wanting to do this for a cool video.... or something you want to happen randomly in LCPDFR. Because if it is for a video, you can "stage"(fake it) with the trainer. ONE time thing only... And it will take hours with positioning/planning, retakes, bad luck, and editing the video. But it is possible with no scripting/modding skill needed. If someone is going to try scripting it, awesome to the max. Good on you!

As an alternative I think you may have better luck looking through several(actually i mean a whole friggin bunch) of different fonts. You may be able to piece together some of the letters from multiple font types. Good old time and patience, try running through your Character Map if you have windows. Jot down the ones that fit for the tough to find/odd shaped letters and search google when you run out of luck. So this is pretty much the hard way. But good luck.

I am going throw in an outside opinion that i hope cuts down to the nitty gritty. I don't use either of these programs but i did consider them and researched a little bit about them long ago. I think everyone got a chance to make their point. But maybe we need to generalize it or bring it down a level. From what i've seen of LCPDFR, it is a fantastic mod and it doesn't just bring in the hardcore gamers or power gamers who simply know their stuff. I read about those young and older who were amazed to find a way to play as a LEO in a game. And they can indulge in being as realistic or just a plain fun playstyle. And i see posts from people who dont do PC gaming and are mainly console players or those who dont really play games at all but they have an older pc or laptop(i can't imagine playing on one,, good on you all for dealing with it). And from a technical implementation as i understand it, you are right hlsavior. Fraps will crank things out to the max. But to keep it simple, i'm gonna use the sports car analogy. Using fraps is like driving your Lamborghini Aventador to work with a 60mph speed limit. Is it really worthwhile draining your money for fuel on this task. You may be in a situation that doesn't warrant it, by which i mean your system specs or what resolution you are playing. So the individual user will have to figure it out on their own. So looking at this discussion from a technical standpoint, hlsavior makes his point and suggestion on fraps. And if you know your gaming stuff or you just know you have a killer gaming rig, crank it up. From a practical standpoint for the average, new pc gamer, alternatives may be more beneficial to test. (a lot of us are affected by the fact GTA IV is unoptimized POS and has been talked to death forever.)

it could possibly work just like how the suicidal subject engages with the sliding bar. So you wont necessarily have to code/script something completely brand new i am guessing. If you fail, there is a chance they'll both go to town on you.

Check out the attached picture. If you have enough hard drive space, just make backups in the root - Grand Theft Auto IV - folder in steam. The GTAIV folder is 15gb for each one you make. For example I have the current working folder at the top of the directory. GTAIV - current game/scripts loaded = barebones settings as i am playing and testing some textures GTAIV - Snow Default = default settings for GTA, LCPDFR, Snow Mod with no modded cars/handling GTAIV-charg = charger project i was working on GTAIVmain = my favourite one i play most often with car/skin packs of my local police GTAIV-Snow = has modified settings for GTA, LCPDFR and snow mod with changed vehicles and handling. Really handy for me as all i need to do is rename a few folders and i get different game settings and new modded vehicles to play with. Makes it way easier and faster for me to setup gameplay videos if i need to change the scenario or related props/textures.

I don't think this would be something overlooked too much. Are you absolutely sure there are no keys binded by both lcpdfr & ELS 7? **i will put a disclaimer, that GTA may work differently due to hardware, performance levels and possibly background programs like AntiVirus or whatver. I really hope it works for you. But i had the exact same scenario as you describe. Crashing out 2 straight times as i was walking down the stairs and toward the door. I said fudge it, looked at some ideas people put out on forums and remapped almost all the ELS keys to different ones that GTA/LCPDFR/Other Mods did not use. It worked for me and i have not crashed in that way since the 2nd day ELS 7 released. Best of luck!

Thanks, i never used it due to having so many keys to remember already... Would love to have a script that has the ai police more independently handle crimes around you. I dont always want to initiate everything and be the centre of attention. Being back up and assisting in different ways would be a nice change. (for those who can't play multi)

Sounds really cool. And what is the traffic control feature you talk of. Do you mean the commands to stop a car/all cars/wave one through?? An automated NPC/AI one would be nice, otherwise you have to roleplay one. And policehelper did all the work for one of my attempts. (one very cool thing to see, that i dont have recorded... With random dispatches, i had a code 3 crown vic roaring to my checkpoint. Slows down as it gets there and with ELS lag or something, siren goes silent for a moment and lights stutter as it slow cruises along. Once it is through, it blasts off again. Pretty good immersion, but it wasn't part of my main video.. no recording.)

Lt. Caine & Sam, all the people who helped them test are the definately the cool cats in town. They have made GTA 4 fun again for me. I no longer start the game and wonder how long the game will run and how many times will i crash and restart( and give up). the cruise setting will be easy to play around with. Page 14 of the pdf will have a simple graphic on the Extra 1-4 and its location in relation to the car. And as i understand it, not all cars may have their lights modeled in that order. You may see something you don't expect on certain cars. So test them one at a time or however you like to.

You can sometimes get really cool unintended results and some unique flash patterns with unoptimized ELS cars. it doesnt help with the realistic approach if that is what you are going for.

ahh okay another mystery. But to be a bit more specific about the Simple native trainer, i believe it occured when i used the save car feature on too many cars... "Save Car" go figure eh...

the only other places i have encountered them is the save at the safe house while you are still a cop. This has been noted in the SMPA60 thread i think..... i would be curious if the game autosaves if you forget to turn off story mode... and do some sort of mini-mission while as a cop. So you may not notice it or think nothing much of it. I vaguely recall crashing right away instead... And i have had it playing around with SNT spawned cars for longer lengths of time and from spawning too many...
