I really hope ELS doesn't come out soon...

Featured Replies

Once ELS comes out, almost every vehicle released will be using it. I'm not saying the modification will be bad or anything, but it might be very unstable. Take a look at GTA IV for example. You couldn't leave vehicles with ELS on because they wouldn't be removed with memory. You would have to go inside every vehicle with ELS and turn it off. If ELS does come out soon, I hope it's stable enough to the point it won't crash the game / keep cars in memory / be unstable.

That's my opinion. Yours?

Everytime I conduct a traffic stop, I have to turn on my siren to stop the blipped vehicle. So once I turn my siren on, not only the blipped vehicle but every vehicle front of it yield to my siren. So the blipped vehicle has to go around them. Seeing this is very stressful and troublesome. I hope devs of LSPDFR and ELS to collab and fix these problems.

I think a lot of people are wanting this, it's not a question of if, it's probably more a question of when.

That being said, V is a lot more stable than it's predecessor. A large amount of bugs and problems which were blamed on ELS and LCPDFR were problems with Rockstar's really bad port of IV or really high poly car modifications which IV's engine didn't handle well.

Well, GTA V is much more stable in terms of modding. GTA4 would've crashed every 10 minutes of playing with lots of police mods, while GTA V doesn't crash once in hours (except when you provoke it on purpose or not.. like.. calling 60 backup units).

My biggest concern is whether they can fix the door bug. Because of that I ignored ELS in IV until ELS V8 (which fixed this).

Hey seems there is a fix to your problem about other cars pulling over when pulling over a specific one, The Traffic Policer mod fixes your problem, try it out.

Not even I can agree with you. See, GTA IV was extremely unstable, adding ELS or any mods for that matter will only cause more strain on the crap port itself. ELS for GTA V however will probably work perfectly fine. I am kinda pro-ELS for this matter being as I can probably do more with ELS than I may be able to do without it. If I can do this, I'll be satisfied.

Although, I may add. I hope there's a way to just press one button and activate it all. I was never a fan of the whole "lighting control" crap.

I agree with those who say GTA 5 can support the ELS. GTA 4 isn't all that stable for ELS. Also, the stability of it may vary based on your PC. GTA 5 is loads more stable however. My ALienware laptop can run very high quality ENBs for GTA 5 no problem, so I believe that ELS should be no problem. And to what Lundy said, I believe the light control was just to add to realism that police have to go through in real life. (I.E. They can press one button to turn everything on IRL, but if you rather go code 2, there's a specific lighting pattern, and not all lights flashing, then code 3 is lights in siren, and that's when all lights and the siren are used. Don't get mad if not all of this is correct, I'm tired, and my heads all bleh...)

I agree with you, OfficerSquare, it was a pain to find non-ELS vehicles for GTA IV. I defenitly don't mind ELS, but it is always nice when modders create both an ELS and non-ELS version of their car.

From a UK police perspective, it depends on the vehicle, but normally there will be the following controls for the lights / siren:

999 / Arrival / Reset - most commonly used, one press sets the standard travelling and activates siren and h/light flash (siren is then actually activated with a double press of the horn, single press after cycles to faster warble, another press for the rapid warble, single press back to standard, double again to cancel it) next press of the lighting button puts them into scene mode, so rear reds flashing with blues I believe. Third press resets everything to off.

360 - 360 flash pattern on the blues

Rear reds - Rear reds flashing, rarely used by itself, arrival is usually used, but can be used if the vehicle is stationary to warn approaching traffic without distracting everyone with the blues

Left / Right Alley - individual control of the left and right alley lights in the end of the lightbar

Siren - activates siren (still requires horn as above)

H/light flash - activates h/light flashers

Immediate response calls (code 3 equivalent) are lights and sirens response, anything else is slow speed. Lights can be used for scene preservation and hazard warning though.

Alright, good to know! I also love the way you guys police in the UK, how you guys only have a unit for weapons, and the rest of the officers have tasers, or sometimes no tasers at all...

I'll tell you this, on my shift we have three taser trained officers, this is response mind, not sure about local units. In total, there will be between 10 and 20 of us on duty total, and although we can expect armed backup should it be needed, it won't be quick, even on blues and twos, though in more densely populated areas, backup is far closer. We can potentially be waiting up to 20 minutes for the nearest standard unit to respond on blues!

Taser itself would never be deployed on someone with a firearm due to the risk of the trigger finger tightening and shots being fired, though for knives and other weapons it is useful, and even then, it is only discharged very rarely, red-dotting them is usually enough.

The rest of us however, have a hitty stick and a spray (which doesn't last long). Then again, we fall back on those and the other skill sets we're taught so rarely that people can never find the forms to fill out when we do have to use force! The voice is a far more powerful tool in our arsenal! Though maybe I should start a topic about the UK police rather than piggy-backing this one, I just thought the above information might be useful to someone in relation to the topic :p

ELS in IV was so unstable because IV was. ELS in V will be much more stable, and hell, since the game already has a decent lighting system, the people making ELS might be able to use that to an extent.

but idk

As others have stated, making this post rather redundant, GTA V is leaps and bounds better in terms of literally everything. While my gtx 780 and i7 are certainly not the best out there, it baffled me to no end of how awful GTA IV was in terms of stability and overall performance. That's really my only problem with Rockstar, given that there are a plethora of half assed based publishers and companies out there, Rockstar for the most part, is a pretty good developer all around. That and I'll never forgive them for the fact that they never released Red Dead Redemption on PC, absolute non-sense.

More on topic, I'm all for ELS. I just hope some of the bugs that were present in the early and even later builds of ELS for GTA IV are ironed out and fixed prior to the release of ELS for GTA V. I'd even wager that Rockstar got some inspiration from ELS given that the default light setups for the default Police vehicles in GTA V are actually pretty good, some of the best actually in comparison to some of the other games out there that feature Police cars. Complete night and day difference to GTA IV's police light setups.

yeah... the voice is effective, but... American police departments like to use guns unnecessarily sometimes... I'm a student in law and public safety in my High School.. So my credibility can be a bit questionable at times... But American police departments should spend money on speech, and community relationship methods rather than teaching our officers to use guns... Especially in a small town like mine, where not much crime besides parking and speeding violations.

Your hoping is going to go no where. ELS will still come out for GTA V, and like many others have said, GTA V is leaps and bound much more stable than GTA IV. I'm sorry that your computer wasn't strong enough to run it, but many, many others can and this is going to be a great tool to have. I cannot wait for the day it becomes available under download, I can only imagine the possibilities it will take us to.

There was.......It was called ELS Express if I remember correctly. It would change the operation over to one button operation like default lighting.
