Hello, i hope you read this Sam. I think it would be AWESOME if you made LCPD:FR a game! Like, not a mod in GTA IV but LCPDFR as its own game. That would be cool. i hope you see this and think about it! Thanks for makin LCPDFR! It makes GTA IV fun if you dont want to be a criminal! :)

It's not up to him to do that. LCPD:FR uses copyrighted content from Rockstar games as resources. As such, he is only able to give it out for free. The GTA IV content it uses does not belong to him or anyone else but Rockstar North.

You have to think about the resources it would take to make a FULL Game, Sam, and the rest of the Devs simply code all of the features in, When it comes to making a Game:

1). You have to find a apropriate game engine, And then you have to buy its liscensing (Which is HELLA expensive)

2). You have to be famillar with the engine, All engines differ, and they might not even be able to work with it,

3). You have to have the resouces, Such as people, Time, Money etc, (Mapperes, Texturing, Modeling etc.)

And thats just the few off the top of my head, Im pretty sure LCPDFR Will stay a GTA Centered modification, Other than that, The rest is up to the Devs.

Help us, help you!

I think this post was by someone who didn't think this through or has no knowledge of how video games are created. LCPDFR would be an awesome game because it would be a game built for the purpose of playing as a cop in a free roam envrionment. However, I don't see it ever happening. We can only hope he get a GTA 5 LCPDFR version when that game comes out.

Visit me on youtube. The most common reason for crashing is user error. Make sure you have the latest RAGE, ScripthookV, ScripthookVdotnet and turn off your antivirus. Make sure you have an up to date gameconfig.xml as well. Use Allbo's plugin troubleshooter to find any errors too.

Even if an actual development studio wanted to steal LCPD:FR's concept and turn it into an actual game, it wouldn't have a large enough audience to do well. Let's be realistic here. I think many of us have logged way more hours playing the same missions in LCPD:FR than we have playing an entire story complete with a script and voice narrative. And it terms of how people behave: It's more fun for the common man to commit crimes than it is to stop them from happening. GTA gives you the ability to disregard the law and get away with it with no consequences, where in real life you can't. That's the "freedom" and entertainment people seek, and that's why Rockstar Games makes millions off of it. Despite the size of our community, we are a minority.

It would be entirely legal for us to actually charge for LCPDFR, although we choose not to.

We don't actually use any of Rockstar's resources in our code; We just use memory hacking to communicate with the game engine.

You need far more than 4 developers to make a game of such scale.

Imitation is the sincerest form of flattery.

I highly doubt Rockstar would take the same stance as you on that subject. It's not worth the court battles, Jay. lol Although I'm sure you knew that already.

Not going to happen, despite this mod being one of the best, most stable, and innovative out there, most kiddies don't want to play as a cop. Go to mainstream GTA forums and suggestions regarding playing as a cop will be dismissed with comments to play True Crime. Sad reality

But even if it's not in the shops and just sold online. We have over 22,000 members here and the figure is rising everyday. There is definitely a market for it, It's just getting the money and the manpower to start with.

I know that 22,000 copies of a game is not enough to cover the development costs, let alone wages etc. I think if the game was publicised in the right way, it could be very successful.

However, this is just a dream and is almost certainly going to stay that way.

Prehaps, but that number would drop drastically if the developers started charging for it. There's no need for payware.

Let's take FSX for example, earlier I wanted to download a FA 18 Super Hornet so I could get to places quicker, there was only one model made for the game and you had to pay $40 for it.

Wasn't even made by Microsoft.

Payware is a bad road to go down, not to mention Sam and Jay would have to dedicate almost every waking minute to it to add more features etc. There's simply not enough features to consider the mod a full game, besides, Sam and Jay have their own life's.. I presume.

Processor: Intel i5-6600 @ 3.30GHz

GPU: MSI ARMOR GeForce GTX 1080 OC

The modification alone is simply compiled source code, which is our intellectual property. We could therefore, quite easily, charge for LCPDFR. Even still, it's not like Rockstar allow mods only if they are free, as they don't support mods full stop.

I suppose so, plus to cover the costs of development and wages, the cost of the game would have to be astronomical.

$40? for a single plane? thats mad!

However the mod needs a base to operate on, which is GTA IV. And G17 uses intellectual property from Rockstar Games, even in the name of the mod. Look I'm not saying that if you word it nicely on paper that it's technically impossible, but I guarantee that Rockstar will find a way to take you to court and they'll win.
