i am not a genius on this type of thing but i did notice that i have a download speed on the side when i am looking at a file. Mine is currently at 1101kb/s. is that a good speed? is that optimum for downloads?

Mine is currently 1689 Kb/s. It all depends on posts and activity I believe:

But on here same as everyone else pretty much..

I get about 3 TB per second

It's no google fiber, but I've yet to meet somebody who has faster internet than me going to their house, which isn't an education or business. 

 

There's a lot of basic and advanced networking things you can do to boost your speed though, most importantly, using a wired connection. 

 

(Not an education or business connection either) 

 

I get 20mb/s on SpeedTest. Ofc thats not the actual download, so I get 2.2mb/s. Using LiquidSky to browse I get 800mb/s 850 upload mb/s 1ping

I mean, 5his technically counts as education (it's a college dorm), but my Internet speed in my bedroom measures out (depending on the server) somewhere north of 600 Mbps for both download and upload.

That's really good! The only reason why I said education and businesses shouldn't count for these sort of things, is because they're paying for premium speeds and are paying for the infrastructure to handle those speeds. 

 

Whereas in a house, hopefully, one can do the best with what the consumer has available and make a measurable difference in most cases. (Ex: Wifi --> LAN)

 

EDIT: I'll be living in a college dorm later this year, I'm looking forward to those sorts of speeds. :)

My god.. It limits mine to 1.8 MB/s.

 

But my internet speed everywhere else is about this fast:

 

I only pay for 20mb/s

This changed from "What speed do you get on LCPDFR.com downloads" to "post your speedtest.net results" faster than the worlds fastest ISP's speed.

I'm going to revive this week old topic to say that the download speed on LCPDFR isn't unlimited...I highly doubt ineseri gets any higher of a speed than other active members. I'm not sure exactly how it works, but I'm pretty sure current server load is a big factor.

 

Also, for those that posted their internet speeds: Speedtest shows you your speed in megabits per second, and Steam is in megabytes per second. Divide your Speedtest speed by 8 to get your Steam download speed.
