trewq34 got a reaction from Trooper Goetz in How do I replace the Defalt GTA 5 lightbar with a coustom GTA 4 lightbar?
Step 1: Get permission to convert the lightbar
    Step 2: Convert it
Step 3: Figure out how to map the lights for V
    Step 4: Map the lights
Step 5: Place the lightbar on a car
Step 6: If the person you got permission from lets you release the lightbar, release the car (if you want)
Sorry I can't be any more helpful than that. There is very little known about how lights work in GTA V at the moment, so either wait for F5544 to release his car so you can investigate, use his tutorial thread (which is very complex) or investigate current V lightbars to see how to map the lights.

Yes, its obviously very childish to quote and address someone...
Yes, you want. You want, you want, and you want. The community is very open to those wanting to learn, indeed, but not to those trying to force and demand from a minority.

Quote war you say? Im pretty sure he was making it easier for people to read, rather then them reading one part of his post and going to yours to see what his reply was for. I dont see anyone being childish but yourself for what you said. Anyway, as a consumer, let modders release their mods how they wanna release it. Is it really gonna kill someone for a modder to release a vehicle locked? Get over it or make it yourself. Simple. Anyway, yall have a good day!

Let the staff adopt whatever stance and set whatever double standards they want, the result will be that modelers will simply move elsewhere. What I will say is that it ought to be the modelers' decision as to whether or not they decide to release their work unlocked, its not to be forced by a majority of people who haven't got the slightest clue in terms of how much time and effort is invested in modeling.

Absolutely right. But as I said, it won't suddenly turn the community into a better place. People will still restrict the use of their models as much as they did before, it's just much easier to ignore any restrictions now. The current debate isn't any different than other discussions we had in the years before. Some people say modding needs to be completely open source, others don't.

R* clearly stated they don't mind any form of single player modding. Apart from that, EULAs can be limited by national laws and aren't necessarily obligatory. That's not exactly the point of this discussion, though.
Rockstar's problem is GTA Online. And just because they can't get rid of cheaters in multiplayer, modders should just accept everything either? A game developer is getting money for releasing a game, all a modder gets is feedback, if you're lucky it's positive. If you're unlucky, people will start a discussion if you're egoistical for converting a car to GTA V but not releasing it immediately, although it's simply not complete.
There're bad people everywhere, but just sharing everything won't help. You don't just give away your belongings to make sure nobody's able to steal from you. Why should every modder do that then?
The point for many modders is not whether we're able to lock models or not - it's that people try to force them to release their mods in a certain manner only because they believe it may help the community.

Whether or not modders want to release a model in a unlocked versus a locked format is irrelevant to those who have not put effort into said model. You're a consumer that doesn't necessarily mean you get to have say in how the product is distributed. I think it's completely heinous that the community expects let alone demands a modder to release their work in an open format if it's not that modder wish. Why does that make him/her selfish? You still get the end result that being an amazing model in which you had to put no effort into making but simply get to enjoy.

This video fits perfectly with this thread, and beautifully represents the absurdity of the notion that an individual of one ethnic background cannot possibly deal with an individual of another one in a fair, just manner.

I see a lot of potential in this addition, but it seems as if it'll be extremely buggy. I'd say work on fixing the existing bugs before adding anything new. I wouldn't mind it being added, just as long as everything else is fixed first.

Alright, we'll just stop developing a brand new modification with far more potential so that an outdated and soon to be obsolete mod can get updated.

American English. I absolutely hate it when words get underlined in red when I add a "u" or an "s" (instead of a "z") to them when they're supposed to be there.

I can't stand when people think there's another "your".... PEOPLE THERE IS ONLY ONE!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Let me elaborate:
"your" pronounced "yor" is possessive, describing something that belongs to "you" (another person)
"you're" pronounced "yoor" is another way of saying "you are". They are in no way linked, and cannot be another version of each other.

Please everyone, for the sake of grammar and my well being, please stop saying there is another "your". "Your" is the only "your" to exist (at the moment, at least).

trewq34 reacted to Sniper296 in ATTENTION: A few mods contain malware
The effort put into a mod would make no real difference. Many of the mods for V are open source. Someone with malicious intent can just shove their code into an existing mod, release it on a site that has not already got it, and infect enough people to achieve their goal.
The idea of open source does not solve the problem either. They have released the code, people who can read that language can verify it, but most people are not capable of compiling it themselves, so a pre-built binary has to be provided. Nothing is to stop an author making a binary with malware but keeping the source clean. And without reproducible builds the hashes of the builds on different computers and compilers will be different, so comparing a build with the public source to the pre-built will always be different.
Asking the modders that are capable of inspecting the file is definiately not a solution. They will never get shit done.
Expecting the AV companies to be competent is not an option. The ASIs still have 0/57 detection rate, the malware it distributes still has a measly 29/57 (just re-submitted) detection rate. And I don't expect the ASI's rate to change because the code that does the dirty work, hell, the code that does the mod shit, is unreachable by emulation.
I wish you all luck running crawling GTA V in your sandboxes and virtual machines. Or just playing Russian roulette with your AV software.
