The way police track your information

Featured Replies

This video is going to explain how the police are able to track surprisingly small and yet dangerous information about you, I'm not sure if people are outraged about this or not, but let me know what you guys think.

I hope the government likes anime and YouTube because that's all they're going to get from me.

Surveillance will always be a necessary evil - vast amounts of intelligence comes from it.

A few months ago the UK healthcare system - the NHS - announced it would keep information of patients on a scale it hadn't before. It outraged so many people, but at the end of the day it's only a positive move by them. I'm completely in favour of surveillance.

It's important to keep in mind, you won't have such surveillance focus on you unless you're doing something illegal.

I do not agree with this surveillance, it's like the NSA all over again, you do realize that it is very hypocritical for a government to say that they will not violate the rights of their citizens, but then turn around and violate them.

I don't have a problem with any off this. As Stripe said, surveillance is a necessary "thing"(I wouldn't call it evil). It should only be a problem for those who are doing things illegal, it's not like they're posting stuff online for the world to see.

I'm not even sure how to respond to this level of thinking, are you seriously that naive? The government that is in possession of this information can easily abuse it and therefore corruption in power. You may be okay knowing that the government knows your information, but many of us actually care about our privacy and we have a right to it.

I do not care what the government knows about me. I have nothing to hide, and hopefully never will have anything to hide. I'm not a terrorist, I'm not anti-government, I'm not planning to rebel, I'm just an average citizen of the United States, If you don't like how your country's government works, run for office, maybe you'll be president or at least a US Senator and you'll be able to decide, or just go to Canada or any other country.

While I do agree that some degree of surveillance is necessary to prevent crime, everybody should have the comfort of privacy in their homes.

Besides, if government changes into more authoritarian one, that information can be used against not only criminals, but also all those who stand up against the oppression.

Jesus dude, relax. Everyone always thinks that there's some dude sitting at a desk going through your private Facebook messages when it's really just a collection of your information gathered by a database which can be accessed by the police in the event that you are suspected of a crime. There's nothing to worry about as long as you don't break the damn law. The government doesn't care about your info otherwise.

I can agree to that to some degree.

You think as though the government is your friend and that are to be trusted, again they can use this information to subdue its citizens into submission and there you have it, absolute corruption, and no I don't plan for running for office, I'm not interested in that. You're flushing your democracy and freedom down the toilet of you don't think you need privacy.

...again they can use this information to subdue its citizens into submission and there you have it, absolute corruption...

How would they subdue people into submission with information regarding which petrol station they fill up at or which road they travel to work on?

That goes back to what I said: as long as you are not hiding anything, you have nothing to worry about.

It doesn't have to be gas stations, it can be anything from embarrassing photos to messages, etc. it doesn't have to be a major crime, only minor crimes, like watching copyrighted shows or it could be just being at the wrong place at the wrong time. It all comes down to who can you trust.

Also to blackjesus: let's hope not.

Kinda off topic, what do you mean watching copyrighted shows is a crime? And if the government was going crazy and having surveillance on everyone all the time, wouldn't that be an advantage for you because they know exactly why you were at that place, at that time?

YouTube:Black Jesus

Media, and Hollywood have made us paranoid as a society. This kind of surveillance has existed since the revolution. Your neighbors would spy on you if they though you were a loyalist, and would keep records of who you associated with, shopped at, traveled to, and what you may be doing in your house. That hasn't changed to this day. So yes, unless you're doing something illegal, you have nothing to worry about.

The government is not gonna go all "Enemy of the State" on you and plant evidence and trackers on you and destroy your life. That is a prime example of Hollywood perverting the American public.

Or listening to copyrighted music on semilegal services and there you can be caught for a minor crime, also I'am confused by your second statement, how would I have access to the information if I'm not the one spying on them? Please explain.

I don't think listening to copyrighted music on a site is illegal, downloading is, but listening shouldn't be. It's like saying, listening to a song on youtube with adblock on is illegal.

And the second part. You said "it doesn't have to be a major crime, only minor crimes, like watching copyrighted shows or it could be just being at the wrong place at the wrong time."

Wouldn't crazy government surveillance rule you out as a suspect faster in a wrong place, wrong time scenario? You were talking about being wrongly accused in that situation, right?
