The way police track your information

Featured Replies

I will walk them in and walk them around, im not hiding shit, I have nothing to hide so. I will show them everything.

Yeah that's not how it works. They come in, hand you papers, tear your whole home apart and there's not a damn thing you can do about it. Oh and once they're done, they leave your home trashed and a mess.

I for one am against this whole spying on everybody and it is our right to have privacy. I can't stand how everything comes with a freakin camera built in now such as tablets, smartphones, tv's, handheld gaming systems. You could be watched by someone right now on either of those devices and you wouldn't even know because there are ways to hack your cameras without the red led turning on. I usually put something over the front facing camera on my devices to block any pictures or video being snapped or recorded.

And certain keywords and phrases that you look up can get the police knocking at your door or put on a watch list. I'm concerned about this because I occasionally look up GTA IV and GTA V mods, Police equipment, cars, guns for ideas for mods and what not  or graphic videos on liveleak and they might consider me a threat, which I'm not, but if they ever did come knocking on my door with a warrant because of what I have been searching for, then they could just go into my home and do whatever they wanted and that's fucked up.

Federal republic such as the United States of America.

Nope, the USA is a Constitutionally Limited Republic...not Federal Republic...very very different.  We have a Constitution that limits what the gov't can do period.  The US Constitution does not limit individual rights but it places severe restrictions on what the gov't can do and how they are to do it.  Although the statists here try to muddy up what it's intent it, it's very clear it's set out to protect our liberties against tyrannical gov't...hence the 1st and 2nd Amendments in particular.

EDIT: Doesn't mean the gov't can't co-opt our rights here in the US, as most liberals here are trying to do, both Republicans and Democrats...very little difference between the two.  One is flat out socialist/Stalinist and the other is socialist light...not much of a choice.

They may be some difference.  But Both German per wwII to Post wwi was a federal republic.  As is the United States of America.

Any way thje Weimar Republic had a constitution as well. From http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Federal_republic

Following World War I, the republic emerged from the German Revolution in November 1918. In 1919, a national assembly was convened in Weimar, where a new constitution for the German Reich was written, then adopted on 11 August of that same year. In its fourteen years, the Weimar Republic faced numerous problems, including hyperinflation, political extremists (with paramilitaries – both left and right wing) and continuing contentious relationships with the victors of World War I.

and

The ensuing period of liberal democracy lapsed by 1930, when President Hindenburg assumed dictatorial emergency powers to back the administrations of Chancellors Brüning, Papen, Schleicher, and finally Hitler. Between 1930 and 1933 the Great Depression, even worsened by Brüning's policy of deflation, led to a surge in unemployment. It led to the ascent of the nascent Nazi Party in 1933. The legal measures taken by the new Nazi government in February and March 1933, commonly known as the Machtergreifung (seizure of power), meant that the government could legislate contrary to the constitution. The constitution became irrelevant, so 1933 is usually seen as the end of the Weimar Republic and the beginning of the Third Reich.

and the final nail

Hindenburg, despite his misgivings about the Nazis' goals and about Hitler as a personality, reluctantly agreed to Papen's theory that, with Nazi popular support on the wane, Hitler could now be controlled as Chancellor. This date, dubbed by the Nazis as the Machtergreifung (seizure of power), is commonly seen as the beginning of Nazi Germany. However, the moment in German history when the democratic principles of the constitution and personal liberty came to an end was Hindenburg's appointment of Brüning as Chancellor.Hindenburg, despite his misgivings about the Nazis' goals and about Hitler as a personality, reluctantly agreed to Papen's theory that, with Nazi popular support on the wane, Hitler could now be controlled as Chancellor. Not enough proof  Here from another wiki page  http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_republics#Federal_republics

Federal republics

Federal republics are federal states in which the administrative divisions (states or provinces) theoretically retain a degree of autonomy which is constitutionally protected, and cannot be revoked unilaterally by the national government.

Where did that lady get her information? None of what you do in public is private information. Your license plate is not private information, you parking your car in front of a church or gas station or where ever is not private information. Running license plate numbers is nothing new in law enforcement, police do it all the time it is just now they have the cameras which help take some of the work load off the officer which is particularly important when he/she is driving.

I can see that almost no one around here read about 1984 from George Orwell. If you think surveillance is so good, you should read the book.

So you are going to base your opinions off of a novel? I mean if that is all it takes then I'll write a novel about Godzilla. Does that mean you will then think there is a huge lizard living in the ocean and is about to attack Tokyo or New York?

The analogy you just did is laughable. Comparing two novels just because they are novels is dumb, it's like comparing a Ferrari and an electric car just because they are cars, when they totally have different purposes. There's a difference between a fantastic novel involving giant reptiles (which is against all scientific results of our era so far) that is made only to entertain people and a novel like 1984 which shows that permanent surveillance on people can quickly turn into an oppressive strength and dictatorship, making the reader think and take a few steps back to ponder on the morale coming from the book. No need to make comparisons between stuff that aren't comparable.

Yea, right...I'm sure you would fella...I'm sure you would...don't forget the coffee.

I sure would have a cup of coffee waiting for them if they want it, I will even bring them in, show them around. I dont care if people think otherwise, I will bring them in, I have NOTHING to hide.

I dont care if they leave it a mess, I will pick up the big stuff, and my cleaner (Yes I have one) will then come in, and I will have her help pick up the rest, and then she can clean.

No, my point is that the novel is fiction. The reason it shows permanent surveillance can quickly turn into a oppressive dictatorship is because the author made the story turn out that way. My point is that you can make anything turn out a certain way when you are writing a book and to base your opinion on real life matters off of a fiction book doesn't make any sense.

I love the ignorance people show regarding illegal activity of surveillance without warrants...you do realize that we have a big government and it doesn't care about the will of the people...right? so I guess I could say the same thing that the jews had nothing to hide so they shouldn't of worried about hitler...right? thanks for reminding me the ignorance that still surfaces on this site I hope you realize that at one point or another you have broken a law with how many laws we have now, but don't worry you have nothing to hide...right? we citizens have a right to privacy and our constitution is what makes this country better then places like north korea, china and other totalitarian countries where they don't care about citizens rights

Well, at this moment in time, I don't have anything to hide. So I really don't care what the government is doing with my information, they can't blackmail me, as Chester said they could do, and they're not going to kill me as I'm not in a terrorist group.

sure whatever you say kiddo you obviously haven't been paying attention to current events and whos really pulling the strings nor have you been following the money, the government, the bankers and corporations do not care about the citizens all they care about is control but you'll see soon when the dollar collapses at who they really serve, go back and take history class again and then maybe you might value your rights more as you clearly don't

As I stated above, it's not about whether you have anything to hide or not, it's about your rights.

Question 1. My Lips wont even be on there asses.

Statement 2: I understand that, but I feel if they wish to search me, I will let them, if you have nothing to hide, then you shouldn't be afraid for you rights.

Hey Pal..can't you read; I said the US is a Constitutionally Limited Republic, not a Federal Republic, which is a generic term, as you can read in your wiki link.

Let me help you: "constitutionally limited government is a system of government that is bound to certain principles of action by a state constitution. This system of government is dialectically opposed to pragmatism, on the basis that no state action can be made that conflicts with its constitution, regardless of the action's possible consequences.

An example of a constitutionally limited government is the United States of America, which is a constitutionally limited republic.[1]"

There you go...should clarify things a bit.

Thanks

From this statement I'am going to assume that you agree with this mass surveillance right? I hope not, Now for those of you saying, "if you have nothing to hide, than there is nothing to worry about" you simply have not thought about this long enough and don't realize the dangers of a surveillance state and going by that logic, if a Jew has nothing to hide in Hitlers Germany, he or she has nothing to be afraid of. If you do have nothing to hide, why are your accounts password protected? Why would you be concerned with sharing your accounts with someone else whom you normally trust? Why do we have laws concerning discretion at hospitals for example? Something doesn't have to be a major crime to be worth hiding for you. But that's not all.  The technology used nowadays by intelligence agencies have the power to infiltrate your devices and alter your data. It is possible for the government to hide a bunch of  deadly poison gas or bomb construction plans on your PC and then arrest you for planning a terrorist attack. Do I think the current government might do this? No, but we are giving the possibility to any future government too. People please understand what I'am trying to say and realize the dangers of a surveillance state.  There is no guarantee that our actions we commit today might become illegal in the future and there  is no guarantee that our data and personal information cannot be stolen and used against us.

I'm a muslim I don't think police watch the mosque just because of terrorism.

That would be corrupt.

Well yeah good point.

I completely agree that a lot of the methods they use to keep track of people and the information they gather about them are ridiculous and should be kept private, as they were meant to be. Of course, the government and police departments have no idea if people are innocent or not, so they must have some sort of surveillance system monitoring them. The problem is that they know too much about everyone now, regardless of whether this information can be accessed at will. They want to achieve maximum security, but perhaps attempting to do so is too intrusive, taking away a lot of the freedom privacy that the people once had. It may also be necessary, to prevent another major terrorist attack. It's definitely a conflict.

For goodness sake, could you provide a logical argument as to why you agree with the US government spying on us? You can't and clearly you did not read my statement i made before, because if you had you would not be spouting out the nonsense you're doing right now.
