Is LCPDFR's Community Team Efficient?

Featured Replies

To be honest, I hold a high respect for the work of the Community team. They respond to topics fast and are always willing to help. If a thread has turned into a flame war, they are quick to restore the peace. So, for the size of the team and the size of the job, I believe they are excellently efficient.

However, I do believe that the team is too harsh. For example, I posted a gif as a gallery comment and it was removed because it was "useless". What is anymore useless about a gif than a few words. I feel that is too harsh.

Then again, that is my opinion and everyone has their own.

This is a well organized, maintained website for all LCPDFR offers.  I do agree with the moderator staff having control and moderating the forums and other types of posts.  Think about 140,000 members and no one keeping control. everything will be posted everywhere.

Keep up the good work LCPDFR staff !!

Imagine if you had of dialed the community team and "reported" (hint hint) the issue. How different would it be? You wouldn't go and complain that the police are doing nothing about your stolen car if you nor anyone else reported it stolen, would you?

Just some food for thought....

Though there are times when a discussion is blatantly getting out of hand, and a moderator is already actively participating and does nothing about it.

And then you can report that post too. We're only human, all of us. There's no reason you can't report a moderator for the same thing you'd report any other content on the site.

somethings  i don't like or agree with is warning points, esp. for posting something in the wrong place. We are all human and make mistakes. At times you go through the forums and see a section that might fit your needs. Then you get whacked for posting it in the wrong place.

Also, a lot of us don't look at or read signatures. A suggestion maybe to open a forum for clan recruitment and information? i wont say if i'm recruiting or not, don't need anymore warning points lol.

again, thank you LCPDFR staff

I don't have anything to say against the team members, but I really do not understand why there aren't a place for RP clans as it is what moves the LCPDFR forward. Maybe something happened before I meet the community, however I really think that is why the community seems to be 'dead' some times (compared with other forums, and remembering that registered users is not a good measure, but daily active users and number of different users posts).

On the other hand, as someone stated before, this is not a democracy, they can just shut down and show the middle finger for everyone if they want to.

We had one, but members of some communities went on another communities' sections and insulted them and made up lies, so members would go to their clan, and not the one that was insulted. At one point, a leader of a clan deleted a moderator's post to stop insulting and it kept on going in the section. From what I hear, Jay is trying to work on a better clan section, but I'm sure he's more dedicated to real life than to a section on a website.

The above is just another example of how the moderators do not get the respect they deserve. They are just trying to keep the peace, but people just give them the finger and keep on going.

Just to clarify what you've stated, if I witness a moderator breaking forum rules.... I can report them? Wouldn't they just get the report since they're a moderator?

Sure, we would see it, but we can't deal with it - A supervisor (Iconography in this case) would have to deal with that report. And yes of course you can report us, we're just members, just like you, only granted with the "power" to moderate the forums. We're not "worth" more than anyone else.

Nothing on this site will ever be fair because the owner or owners will run it how they want too and they don't want fairness. If they want to run it shitty then they can do that, but lets put it like this if you run a bad site don't be surprised if it is getting DDosed. This is not my favorite site but they do have a good amount of wonderful mods. I just wish that the site was ran better, but hey life is not fair.

I beg to differ...

I beg to differ with you. I don't see myself better than anyone else. In fact, I try to engage in topics and discussions and not only in my moderator uniform, but as a member. I think that is a vital part of being a member of the Community Team; See to the communtity, and not get stuck in a "moderator-only" mode.

If this was something aimed at me, you are free to send me a PM. I'd like to know if I fucked up somewhere.

In your standardized "thread locked" formatting, you say "If you feel this has been done in error, please report this post" or something to that nature. That report goes directly to Iconography, or are you able to act on it (i.e. to unlock) if it was you who was reported?

Going a bit off-topic, but yes we can see the report and sure we can act on it too. But if it is a severe issue, a supervisor or member of management must deal with it.

As a technical matter, the report is visible to all moderators (among other things, that way we can have mini-discussions about it). However, policy is that those reports have to be handled by management, and management does monitor reports to keep an eye on things (the rule is enforced via policy, not via technical means). If you want to report something a moderator did without that moderator automatically being able to see it (e.g. if you don't think it was a simple mistake, but a deliberate abuse of power), you can PM Iconography.

I have a question, when I report someone posting in the wrong forum, what category do I choose?

A rule violation - General Etiquette, but if you want to report something that you believe is against the rules, but you're not sure which one, just pick the one that makes the most sense. It just makes it easier for us to know what you are reporting when you choose what violation it is breaking. Sometimes people report something, but don't put any reason why they are reporting it, so it's hard to tell what the problem is. The report will still be looked into and any required action will still be taken.
