Featured Replies

Apparently the shooter walked into the Parliament Building while Armed after shooting a Soldier at a near-by Memorial..

there's report that the gunman was taken out of the building on a Gurney but there's still a Major Police Presence obviously..

How on earth there's no guard, no metal detectors or barriers at the entrance of the Parliament? With a couple of armed police in the hall he would have been killed on the stairs right after shooting that soldier on the street. Well, judging by the article there were armed guards there, but no barriers or turnstiles.

And judging by that live feed, it's a hell of a shootout there.

That isn't the White House or the Capitol. Those buildings have lots of security. As well many SWAT teams in the DC area.

I don't think the Canadian Gov. can afford the security check points and besides there not needed.

definitely they just said that the shooter was shot by one of the head security officers there but now Ottawa police are saying that there were 3 different shootings in and around Parliament maybe insinuating that there are more shooters at large

There are police officers throughout the buildings, as well as metal detectors in certain areas. You need to remember that in Canada, having a gun is pretty rare. Its assumed that most people don't have a gun, not that most people do. As a result, security isn't as high as it is at the White House or other high security areas.

And why would you think that the government cannot pay for a security checkpoint? That doesn't make any sense...

And the soldier that was shot was not an armed soldier, but rather just equipped with a ceremonial rifle.

I never said Canada can't pay for a checkpoint.

Here in Russia guns are also almost outlawed, but we have solid defense lines almost in all significant government buildings and some police outside.

Just some turnstiles that could slow the guy down and allow hall security to aim certainly don't cost that much.

The person below you did, that's who it was directed to.

What I meant was the Canada Gov. won't put money towards security check points, unless they are needed.

The Canadian Gov. security isn't as big or well funded as the US counterparts.

Hmm I still find it hard to believe  that someone was able to get that far into the Parliament building of any Country with little to no resistance , but one thing is for sure security wont be an issue going forward.....

There were believed to be 2-3 shooters, including the one the was shot to death inside the Center Black. After the suspect was shot, there was another shooting at a mall down the street, no one was injured there. Ottawa is still in lockdown. I believe it is possible a terrorist attack. Why I think that is because of the Canadian Armed Forces that was struck by a car that was driven by a man that supported ISIS.

If that is the case, its not a very good one, three lone shooters with a very disorganized plan. It looks more like maybe retribution for the death of the suspected terrorist.

Why would anyone want to attack Canada?

Because they are allies with the US and began fighting against ISIS, it was only a matter of time before terrorism happened on their soil.

Because they've joined the coalition to battle ISIS in Irak and Syria.

Don't you mean Iraq?
