My Friend Knows An "Undercover Officer"

Recommended Posts

So, my friend is 16 and in high school. He's claiming that a student at our school is an undercover officer working with our local law enforcement.

He's said that the officer showed him his badge and weapon. I highly doubt that this person is an undercover officer if he's going around showing random people his utilities. He says that the supposed undercover officer works with the school to help catch students using drugs and such.

Based on the circumstances given, would you believe that this person is really an undercover officer? I feel like my friend is believing in some type of lie or propaganda.

Sounds like bullshit.

A minor can't carry a weapon in a school (unless it's an adult) and they shouldn't have a badge or a gun while being undercover (especially in a school full of kids) and why would an "undercover officer" tell someone that they are a cop? Doesn't seem very undercover of them.

There's a slight possibility he is helping out the liaison officer at your school, but most (if not, all) agencies do not hire people below the age of 18. And since he's a minor, he cannot carry a weapon at school. All of Sergiyj's points are accurate. I have heard of kids doing the same thing at my high school, but it's all bullshit, just people trying to make themselves look important. If I were you, I'd call him on it. And he might even be showing off some badge and airsoft pistol he got from a toy store, so don't be fooled.

Nope, They don't normally send undercover cops in schools, they send either uniformed officers, or police officers in plain clothes.

and if he was an undercover cop, then he wouldn't show you his badge, nor his gun because then he'll blow his cover, and potentially get fired from being a cop, they also send experienced cops in undercover situations and no experienced cop will do something stupid like that.

Is Tim Roth your classmate?

Slap him & tell him to get his head out of his ass, if you get arrested & charged for assaulting a peace officer, he's not lying, but if he cries like a bitch & nothing happens, he's lying.

Nah, better Mr Blonde's way...

I remember people used to say things like that when I went to school. I would look them in the face and do:

And then I found the meme, of what I used to do at school, on the Internet, and my life was complete.

I should also add, that because he presents a badge doesn't mean he is a cop.. I'm 16 and own a LAPD Detective badge complete with a neck and waist holder.. doesn't make me a cop.

Maybe he is a real cop and he is telling you that he is an undercover cop so that you will doubt yourself into thinking that he isn't. But in actuality he really is a cop, but you don't think that he is because he told you, and real UCs don't say they are UC...or do they???

Was that confusing enough for ya?! :)

Or maybe you are the UC and you're telling us because you think that someone is on to you, and by telling us, they will doubt you're and actual UC....

As a law enforcement officer, I can tell you with almost 100% certainty that your "friend' is not telling you the truth.  First of all, a UC will NEVER reveal his identity as a UC unless it is absolutely necessary to identify his/herself as an officer.  Nine times out of ten, UC's will let uniformed officers make arrests and civilian contacts.  A UC will never pull out his badge or his weapon and show it to a civilian unless there is one heck of a good reason for that civilian to know that the UC is an officer.  Second, federal law prohibits anyone under the age of 18 from possessing a firearm.  Therefore, if this person is a student and is going around showing people a gun, he is in violation of the law and you have a responsibility to report it.  If he is not an LEO and he is going around flashing a badge, he is also committing the crime of impersonation.  This could create a huge security and liability concern in the event of a true emergency at the school.  I would highly encourage you to report this to your principal or School Resource Officer (if your school has one).  If you ask your principal or School Resource Officer to not mention your name, they have a duty and responsibility to NOT do so.  You can also ask your parents to contact the appropriate people if you feel uncomfortable doing it yourself.  Although I probably don't have jurisdiction where you go to school, I am more than willing to assist you, if you want.  Feel free to PM me if needed.
