What do you guys think will be the next GTA city?

Featured Replies

I would like to see Vice City with the new capabilities of the ps4 and such but unless it was set in the 80's or early 90's it just wouldn't work for me unless it had a kick ass story to it.

Ever since GTA IV came out I was wishing they would do Las Venturas again. Now with the release of GTA V on next gen and PC I want it even more. Imagine cruising down the strip in PS4 style graphics at night....

  • Grand theft auto: Pyongyang.

They will most likely do it in Vice City, since we have had both Liberty City and San Andreas completely remade for the HD universe.

However.. they could also make a first appearance of Carcer City. since that is also a big part of the GTA world.. it gets mention all the time on the radio, character bios etc

I don't think Carcer City would work very well. Mentioning cities from your other games is one thing, but actually remaking them in an entirely different series goes past "continuity nod".

And they've indicated that VC may not be returning; while every city in GTA is set in both a place and a time period, Vice City was *really* tied to a specific time period (the 80s), and the HD era cities are set *now* (III was set the year it was released, but SA and VC were both set well before then).

What about a Canadian city? Like Halifax, or Vancouver?

I approve. I was to Vancouver and Vancouver Island (Comox Valley) four years ago, and that would be fucking epic. Skyscrapers in the city, and walmarts on the island. And the story could have included Trevor if it was set 10-15 years ago, as he was a weapons smuggler.

Setting next GTA in Vice City of eighties-nineties (possible crossings with Mr. Versetti?) would be a good chance to avoid repeating themselves. Another game happening in present time... They'd have to try hard to invent something new. Long cars, cool clothes, nice music!

Oh, while I was composing my post ineseri already expressed it :D

I would also welcome LV, because I feel like we spent not enough time there in San Andreas... High-rising casinos, Old Ventura Strip lit with lights, luxury cars, millions of dollars at stake, illegal government experiments in a nearby desert, Mafia families fighting violently, 'bunch of rednecks scarcely fit to be called cops', and all!

Except when they had Liberty City, Vice City, and San Andreas in GTA 1, then went back to Liberty City for GTA III, Vice City for VC, San Andreas for SA (expanded at that point to a region, while the original was just a city), Liberty City for Liberty City Stories, Vice City for Vice City Stories, Liberty City for GTA IV, Liberty City again for Chinatown Wars, and San Andreas for GTA V.

Looking at continuities instead of games, there have been 4 universes: GTA 1, GTA 2, GTA III era (III, VC, SA, LCS, VCS), and HD era. The first and third had exactly the same places represented: each had LC, VC, and SA, representing NYC, Miami, and California (GTA 2 was in a generic place literally called "Anywhere City"). We're in the HD era, including GTA IV, EFLC, Chinatown Wars, and GTA V. Thus far, we've had Liberty City and San Andreas appear. Vice City has been referred to, but has not actually appeared.

I'm confused how you could possibly think that Rockstar doesn't repeat cities. They do.

Thanks for reading my mind. It's probably better that I didn't respond, since I probably would've thrown my computer out the window.

Anyway, I'd like to see Vice City again. And if that's the case, hopefully it's set in the 1980's, since it would be nice to see a recreation of 1980's Miami with all of the new technological advancements made since Vice City and Vice City Stories. My second choice would be a modern day Vice City.

Someone talked about a city in South Africa, but that's very unlikely. I think it's going to be Vice City. ^^
