LCPDFR is still a pain in the ass.

I have been playing lcpdfr for quite some time now, more than three years if i am correct, always been a fan of it, but every single update or version that has come out i have had problems with and have always kept to myself with it and managed to fix most of the problems myself, only asking for help at the young days when i first got the mod, but my main issue is the fact that 1.0 is out and its still got heaps of problems with users, even with most of the forum fix's are easy things to do most are people that have no experience with computers or mods and don't have a clue what they are doing simply waste time on the forums asking for help, i did play 1.0 and i think its amazing! Don't get me wrong about that, but for the shit and irritation i had to go through to get it working is complete bullshit.

And with the automatic installer only working with 64 platforms and forcing people to do things manually when they don't know what they are doing is just plain stupid, even though it has instructions these things can be easily avoided with an automatic installer so that its easy and quick for the less experienced, even that diagnostics thing that was involved in one of the versions was a brilliant idea! but should be expanded to cover more grounds in the game and identify more problems, ive also had problems with my account but im not going into that.

Anyway my main point here is for the amount of problems that are still around even though its reached 1.0 is just a load of crap and i really expected this version to be full proof and its still got problems, anybody else thing so?

Makes me think its all made by EA if you know what i mean.. sorry for this but i just couldn't stand it

Make a better mod.

This is a very intensive mod, running on a very, very unstable and poorly ported platform. The fact that half of the functions work as well as they do is impressive enough as is.

While I understand your viewpoint, I think it's quite unreasonable to expect a perfect, 100% functioning mod on this scale without any kind of bugs or hiccups. It's simply the nature of the beast, especially when taking into account that this is a MOD for GTA IV.

I have no problem with the mod itself, its an excellent mod.

I do know all of that, and i don't necessarily expect it to play and work 100% as i understand what GTA is like with mods, i just mean for how long its been out for its just irritating, and i know they have fixed quite a bit and all that, i just felt like i should provide some feedback as i see not much from the down sides of it, and with all i hear getting put into it its just like, yeahhh

Well 2 things:

For one, GTAIV is the worst port to the PC. They did a half-ass job and shipped it. So a lot of the instability does come from GTAIV being horrible.

Second, It's not like R* has endorsed modding of any kind. They never released "dev tools" or anything of the sort. Every mod out there for GTAIV is custom made and scripted. The simple fact that they're able to code this stuff AND get it to work with a game that has no business really supporting mods, is an achievement by itself.

Also it's not like these devs are dedicated to this mod. They have other stuff in their lives (school, work, ect). This is in their spare time. Like I told another member here, I consider this GTA's "DayZ mod" It's COMPLETELY alters the core gameplay, with new animations, controls, and features.

I took that into consideration too i know, i just think it couldn't be too hard to spend a weekend or something purely dedicated on fixing these small things or building something to identify problems or something that's not so time wasting on the forums, even though its a good place to get help its just flooded with post after post of it working on the mod. Make a schedule to work on it or whatever this is just a rant that's all, i see they have come very far with it.

Automatic installers never seem to work properly when it comes to GTA IV. With the manual installation, all you need to do is copy all of the files from the download to your GTA IV folder. I've never seen a simpler installation process for any mod. The other, unexpected problems, are due to incompatible systems (i.e. XP with .NET Framework 4.5) and GTA IV just being GTA IV (the issue with the taser). All of the required programs (.NET Framework, Visual C++, etc) should already be on your computer if you keep it up-to-date, so there shouldn't be a problem there. And finally, it's a mod that is developed by 3 people (Sam, , LMS, plus testers) in their spare time, absolutely free of cost to you, excluding the purchase of GTA IV and your internet service.

I love how ppl think you can just sit around one weekend and fix things. You obviously dont have very much experience developing anything large, and have no idea how much time and effort it takes. I have been a developer for many years and I know from personal experience these types of things, with one difference, I got paid, and had teams of 20-30 developers. The fact that these THREE guys are working on this major project in their spear time so we can finally have a police game worth play..I think we should be thanking them, not bitching and moaning because you had to do a little extra work to install LCPDFR Manually. if dragging and dropping some files is hard, you shouldnt be on a computer..

If you dont like it....Dont play it...better yet..YOU go make your own mod.

LCPDFR DEVS: THANK YOU FOR YOUR HARD WORK!! IM GLAD YOU DO THIS SO WE CAN PLAY!

I said lcpdfr is amazing, and for the third time i think the mod is brilliant, you now see why i think the forum is full of dip shits sometimes,

i understand all the things that could make it how it is with the problems, but dont you think they are annoying?

When you call everyone a dipshit for not understanding your point of view, how do you expect people to agree with you? There's already been far too many "1.0 broke my game and i want a better mod" threads and your's isn't any different. Sure, the errors are annoying but as long as you know what you're doing, having a PC that can handle GTA IV loaded with mods and knowing which mods crash more than others, then you're on your way to a good game.

You don't want it to crash so often or bug out? Follow the guides and tutorials. Check your PC and make sure it's ready to handle the game's uneasiness when it's modded. Don't make complaining threads on the forums.

I can play fine without a crash for a good two-three hours. That's with all police slots modded and running a resource intensive graphics mod, and of course LCPD:FR.

I'm seriously done with having to see people whine and moan about how the game's not perfect. Boo-fucking-hoo. I'd like to understand and help people, like you, who seem to have a large amount of game errors but acting like a spoiled child who won't get his way is making me turn away from helping.

There's three simple solutions here.

#1. Uninstall the mod. Get your money back---oh, wait, that's right. YOU DIDN'T HAVE TO BUY THIS PRODUCT.

#2. Play something else.

#3. Perhaps you could do one better? I'm curious to see your super stable all encompassing fully functioning police mod done in one try on the exact date you specify a month in advance. You build one better. Oh, and your mod can't charge a single f*%#ing dime. Otherwise, it's no longer a community mod, it's payware. I don't see you stepping up to bank hours upon hours upon years of your free time on something for absolutely nothing in return except whiny little brats.

We all like this mod, that's clear to see. I think it's like a drug at this point. They released 1.0 and everyone installed it and saw exactly how awesome it is. Then, when faced with problems, these people were not able to play and "get their fix" and so as the result of withdrawal from this drug people become irritable, cranky, and demanding, ultimately forgetting how much hard work went into the mod to bring it as far as it has come. I know patience is hard to practice, but that's all it comes down to at this point. We all just need to chill, respect and appreciate what we have so far, and wait for more fixes. It's not like the development team has said officially that no more work will be going into LCPDFR at this point. To my understanding their still working on more fixes for the other problems.

We just have to wait.

Stop flaming each other and keep the swearing to a minimum. Any further abusive posts will be removed.

It's near impossible to make a stable mod on an unstable game, there will always be crashing no matter how much "crash proofing" and testing is put into the mod.

Me, posting daily, come across issues with the automatic installer, but no one has ever complained that the Manual Installation Package is too hard/complicated to use. There are instructions for it, and if you can read it really shouldn't be a problem. To quote the official G17 Media LCPDFR Facebook page on a similar post to yours, OP:

Unfortuantly you didn't pay anything - you do not get the right to complain. LCPDFR comes with no warranty. Stop using it if you are unhappy. It works for most people, 20k+ downloads. A small percentage, less than 1% are having issues.

I say show some respect to the devs who work very hard to bring this mod to you and the rest of the community for free and in their own spare time.

Aww. Free software getting you down? :(

Don't use it then. :)

Most people have decent enough computers to run LCPDFR. Complains for 1.0 are coming from the minority, not the majority.

Our hotfix fixed most of the issues, there's still one or two crashing issues which are caused by GTA's engine.

Free software is the best, "on occasion" and lcpdfr is the best of its kind.
This was just a rant at the time as i was irritated by some things in real life and i thought i might jump on lcpdfr to chill out,

and it just stopped working before i even started it so it just set me off and this post was born, even though it was working fine two weeks before -.-

I'm sorry to the "butthurt" i caused to some of the members and i apologize to the creators, lcpdfr is truly amazing and i always understood the effort you guys put in the mod.

I ended up fixing the problem within 5 minutes after posting this, and even played it while people were still commenting on this haha, i was just a hot head and overreacted and needed to be a prick to the people of LC ;p

I laughed at the guy that asked for help on this thread, that's what i meant by some people are dipshits, this clearly wasn't a thread for help. -.-

Oh don't worry, the only 'butthurt' had here was by yourself. As I said, 1.0a works for most users and the downloads and statistics we have on our end speak for themselves. :)
