I just wanted to take some time and wish Nick, aka Original Light, a happy birthday. He is truly one of those people I respect immensely on this site. I helped him with quite a bit of things the last months, and through that I have gotten to know a pretty awesome dude. You are one of the funniest people I have met, and also one of the smartest. I love you a ton, so Happy Birthday man, I hope you will have an awesome day :D

“Keep your head up” really applies to you, because I am certain whatever life throws in your direction, you will be able to tackle the shit out of that and come out victorious, never beaten.

Since I already got you Payday 2 as a christmas gift, I had a hard time thinking of something that could fit. Anyway, here it is:
The rain
It was that kind of wet, heavy rain that you only read about or see in the movies. The streets of New York, Harlem. How he hated, yet loved that place. It was the kind of place where dreams were born and crushed at the same time. Where young girls dreams were squashed on the heel of the man. 1934 wasn’t the year of the kind. The great depression. Election. One candidate trying to outsmart the other. Bribery. The world was a pretty bad place. Yet, this is where he lived. He had joined the NYPD 5 years ago, but the NYPD hadn’t thought much of him. He was a good detective, but the assignments he was given weren’t of his liking. He had quit 2 years ago.

He had started up his private detective agency, which was going well. Well, it was going well in the terms of cash which was a nice. The cases weren’t really interesting most of the time but he had the chance to choose which case he wanted to work on. Most cases weren’t that exciting. Wife wanting to find out if husband was cheating on her. The answer was most likely yes, most of the time. He’d snap some pictures and sell them to the client.

But we are getting off track here. The actual story takes place here.

This particular case wasn’t a actual case per say. It was more of a personal quest. He reached into his coat pocket once more. Yeah. It was still there. He pulled out a smudged photograph. The photograph. Black and white. But her eyes still glowed. The beauty didn’t fade just because the photo did.
He stuffed it back into the pocket. He reached into his other pocket and took out his pocket watch. It was an ancient model, but working nontheless. Even though it was drenched with water. “7 PM. That’ll do” he mumbled to himself. The rain was still pouring down and his clothes were soaked. He hurried across the street and in under the small roof to the entrance of an apartment. He looked back. The neon signs illuminated the street behind him. Good. No sign of any other people.

The bronze number “3” was right above the door, also soaked. Rain trickled down and onto the pavement were a small flood was forming. Right below his feet. He shook his feet in an attempt to get the water out. It didn’t work.

He mustered all his courage and rang the bell. She opened the door almost instantly. He was showered with warm light. He took a final deep breath, and stepped into the room..
