Announcing ELS V7 (UPDATE 02/05)

Recommended Posts

Why did you slow it down so much? In some vids I saw it was already very slow :)

That is if you don't have that 1 there, other wise its really fast and it will cause your game to crash a lot when its going that fast. The 1 makes it so you can see the light bar have effects and makes it go very fast, with out that 1 the light bar will look dim and slow.

Trust me these are the settings I use and it isnt slow, if anything I still think its a little bit to fast.

Realism request: Would it be possible to create a random chance that peds will slam on their brakes, or pull over if they see the lights go on? Not in the same way that the siren would, obviously, but if the primary lights get turned on (not takedowns or secondary/warning/hazard lights), people that are coming at the car should have a random chance of either slamming their brakes (ie, speeders) and pulling over (not if their at an intersection stopped, where they couldn't see the lights).

That would be something interesting to see.

But let's think about this.

Primary lights on behind a vehicle, and they pull over.

What if a vehicle in front of the one you're trying to pull over "sees" the lights? Wouldn't they end up pulling over then too? (Per your desc. of this in your post)

I prefer having to press Shift to initiate a traffic stop, because as long as you're behind the vehicle you want to pull over, they pull over, or run, and you can cancel it too. But, having a chance that the driver will brake check you and then flee, when you initiate the traffic stop isn't a bad idea.

It would add some realism to it. I have heard of people pulling over for a cop, brake checking them, so the cop hits his brakes, and then slamming on the gas and running from the cop. (Normally doesn't succeed anyways. But people try. :P)

Best,

KRI

I kind of understand what you're saying. Yes, they would end up pulling over too. But again, this would add realism. It's only a chance that they'll see the lights. The driver in front of you could be completely distracted, while the one in front of them is looking in their mirrors. But this would more effect vehicles coming at you, in the opposite direction. It's the same idea as pulling over for the siren, but there's only a chance that the drivers would pull over.

Also, this would only happen if you were in motion. If you were stopped, or moving below a certain speed, the cars would not pull over.

To add to this idea, would it be possible to program the "move over" law that NY has into the game? If the car has primaries and secondaries on, and is stopped, all AI cars on the highway or bridges or multi lane roads change lanes or slow down and move over as far as possible? Again, there'd be a chance that the drivers don't move over.

Sorry if this seems like it's too much, I sometimes get an idea and start getting really creative with it.

I think that usually comes from the vehicles.ide file, or cargrp.dat. Though, if you're using non-default slots that could do it too.

I like so many mods from this great site that I simply ran out of valid slots and so had to start using civvie slots :turned: lol.

Cheers.

Will ELS 7 Glitch the doors?

Let's see from the first few pages of this thread...

Been answered before, the door bug will still remain due to the extras system.

The mod looks absolutely amazing! Cannot wait :D

No. It will still be god mode as said above.

The "god mode" is not fixable, all of the brightest script modders has tried to fix this but it is not possible.

AS far as AI goes, I'm not 100% certain how their patterns are chosen right now due to all the changes, I'll try and follow up on it, however AI car no longer spawn with random lights on in the latest version(not used due to bugs)

I am wondering, will the cars pull over when you are using your lights but not your siren?

There is a mod for that called, siren control tool...

You can find it on gtapolicemods I would of linked you to it but I get this error when I go link it....

The main thing I like about the siren control tool (despite issues getting it to work) is the button to make vehicles get out of the way. It would be great to implement that into ELS V7 for the idiotic AI.

Sticks and stones may break bones, but 5.56 fragments on impact.

Management decided to prevent linking to GPM for various reasons, expect  a post addressing the situation in the near future.

Now back on topic:

The AI does seem to pull over or at least give way with ELS V7, I'll have a new preview video up some time during next week showing it off a bit more.

In the siren mod, upon the press of a button, AI that had stopped due to the siren and are in your way will rush out of they way. This is pretty useful for traffic jams, so it would be nice to have.
