Looking for different perspectives on Policing Redefined

Featured Replies

So basically to my knowledge, Policing redefined is just a new and more updated combo of stop the ped and ultimate backup combined. Now clearly its new, so i personally would expect some work to need to be done to it before its perfected. However that being said, there are a lot of mods that aren't yet compatible with it, as they may rely on UB and STP.

Mainly what I'm getting at, is the perspectives of those who have made the switch to PR from UB/STP, on if its really worth the switch, and what the major differences are that make it worth it. Is it worth switching now, or would it be better to wait until its had some more updates and becomes more compatible with other mods that currently rely on UB/STP and/or Compulite? How much effort was the switch? did you find yourself removing a lot of mods that did rely on them? Was there a lot of trial and error with getting everything setup, or was it actually simple and easy? Let me know you perspectives! I'm open to insight, as have been pretty curious on this, and don't want to make the switch if other don't really see a difference.

I mean it's alright.

The plugin released last Saturday. And it's been just 2 or 3 days and they already made update 1.0.0.1. . It takes some time to make PR compatibility with other plugins/callout and script and mods. The creators said that they will make compatibility/alternative on compulite. It's a replacement of STP and UB

The switch over for me wasn't too hateful. The most difficult thing for me was finding a suitable and compatible replacement for compulite. Haven't had any plugins conflict with PR. It definitely still has its issues but I'm able to work around them. Even if you dont switch over now, I would recommend doing so later down the road. This mod will redefine lspdfr.

Maybe you can use the Report pkus external MDT as replacement of compulite

Yes ended up using ReportsPlus. Had to get an extra monitor but I love it more than compulite. Having an in game version would be nice for others who do not have another moniter/pc

Simply categorizing Policing Redefined as a new "combo of STP and UB" not only shows a lack of appreciation for the developers who had been working hard in the past few years; but you are also ignoring the fact that Policing Redefined is the new alternative to STP and UB, with brand new features that have never been incorporated into any plugins before.

Of course, it is a personal "perspective," as it undoubtfully brings personal bias to the surface when criticizing a modification.

As for police computer, I found EPC is rather a convenient plugin if you are a Steam user, by utilizing the Steam overlay instead of tabbing out of the game or setting up a separate laptop/PC.

My bad i wasn't trying to sound criticizing, that was just my understanding of it. I personally hadn't looked into it a whole lot until now, seeing a lot of other developers mention something about it through discord, and it being described that way. Trust me i appreciate the time they put into this. I myself am trying to learn C# and other methods of coding so that I can also become a developer, I just don't have the time on my hands to do it.

You don't sound critical of this plugin, you're just expressing your understanding of a plugin in a forum... where you're asking for people's opinion about said plugin. In my opinion, that was an uncalled-for tirade; it's not like they compare their own plugin to be that of one similar to STP and UB in the first paragraph of their mod description.

I just want to point out that someone from the LCPDFR team recently mentioned PR in this chat. But then, another team member reminded us that talking about PR is totally off-limits because it’s seen as "rude" to make comparisons. Still, it was PR that claimed to be better than everything else, which really stirred the pot. It seems like PR gets a free pass to call itself the best just because it’s the new kid on the block. I’m interested in trying PR out someday, but if we can’t discuss it openly, I don’t think that’s the right approach. To sum it up, PR is an exciting release since it brings a lot of features that, notoriously, may I add, STP never made public in its Paetron versions from many years ago, but saying we can’t compare the two feels like a recipe for disaster. No chance to discuss them openly means no feedback for PR, which basically means we can’t figure out how to improve PR beyond just saying STP or LSPDFR+ is better. That’s not enough to make me want to hit download. If PR can let us explore this question ourselves without pressuring us to download PR before we can form our own opinions, then I would happily support PR.

I never took the OP for criticizing or disrespecting PR devs. Even without mentioning STP and UB, its clear this is what PR does. Bejoijo has been out of the game for awhile, so it is expected a new mod will eventually arise to take the top spot. I'm not speaking bad about STP or UB, as they are still pretty good mods to have in your game. PR has just taken what they are and enhanced it that much more. STP/UB walked so that PR can run!

You're bang on. It's no coincidence that it was on the featured page within and hour or two max after release, with very little downloads.

My personal opinion, I would probably wait, depending on what you're looking for in your game. PR is great but still needs some work in my opinion before it can replace STP and UB. I prefer PRs ability to call for code 1 backup where as when using ELS with UB you don't have that option. I also enjoy testing evidence and being able to bag the evidence. However where UB and STP are better is when calling for traffic stop backup, they come in neat and organized and park behind you, when I call for traffic stop backup with PR they always come from the front side and have to turn around, usually driving on the wrong side of the road and ramming cars, then when they get behind me they sometimes ram my car and shove me into the suspect. Also when calling for pursuit backup with PR, they all spawn in front of the pursuit bunched together and lots of times they spawn upside down so there will be backup units all over the place flipped upside down. Also compulite is not compatible anymore, which is unfortunate, I like having an in game system to use, I don't want to have to hop out of game to use a third party system. And lastly you can no longer end callouts with some plugins, with UB you can press G and there is an option to end your callout, where-as now you must press the 'end' button which doesn't work with every plugin, lots of times now I have to force another callout just so I can go back 10-8. I am not trying to talk bad about PR because I think it is a great mod and I use it myself, I just think it still needs a lot of work before it can 'replace' UB and STP. So long story short, it comes down to your preference on what is more important to you in your game.

100%, I can say that too. PR is a nice 2.0 new modern replacement with bug fixes and more, but it still needs a lot of work.

As an example,

You call for a tow truck, and everything you do needs to be done manually, like deciding which car is getting hooked or when calling a suspect who is getting arrested by which officer. That's all needed manually, not like STP or something else

Yes agreed and even when I call for a tow, I have to fast dispatch 90% of the time because they will get stuck somewhere and never show up. Also since I thought of it, I really miss UBs transport unit, I used to be able to call for backup and when I requested a transport one of the backup units would just leave with the suspect. Now I have to wait for a transport across the state to show up. Like I said I am not shitting on this mod because I really do enjoy it's potential and I think it will become much better as time progresses, just for now I would recommend staying on UB and STP.
