Hi guys,

 

When I got GTA IV working by using the 1.0.7.0 patch from Rockstar Games' website, SparkIV 0.6.4 gave me a notice saying that it won't work with this version of GTA IV.

The one that will work is at: https://code.google.com/p/gtaivtools/downloads/detail?name=SparkIV%200.7.0%20Beta%201.zip&can=2&q=

 

It's in BETA, but it hasn't had any problems for me and the newest GTA IV.

Spark IV is not stable on Window's 7 and is very prone to Random glitches and errors. I recommend using OpenIV. At-least open IV doesn't take the day off when it wants to.

Although from my experience, I tend to get corrupt files more often when using OpenIV. 

I have almost never had an issue with spark :D

Agreed with Beckugan; never had a single problem regarding SparkIV. 

Never had an issue with OpenIV.

I downloaded OpenIV using my laptop once, and it triggered my Norton Internet Security.

N.I.S. analyzed the file, and determined it to be some sort of virus. :S

SparkIV has been most reliable.

Also, If SparkIV randomly starts to crash upon opening just put the Spark files in your GTA IV install directory and it should work fine again. However it will only crash at startup if you change the name of the GTA IV installation folder.

I'm going to through my 2 cents in for OpenIV, just in general more user friendly and powerful.

I use openIV to replace cars and car textures. I use sparkIV to replace sound files.

I've been using SparkIV ever since I started playing GTA IV on PC... I run Windows 7 and never had any problems and crashing with it. So far the only bug I have is with the doors and ELS lights. The doors come from replacing vehicles with custom vehicles and the ELS lights come from a small bug wih ELS 5/6. Other then that.... It's good.

the only thing ive noticed is that it doesnt like to edit multiple files at a time or go back and forth into the same file for texture replacement; workaround is to restart spark before working on each new file, else it tends to not import textures.

 

 

I can't ever download openIV for some reason. But I've never had a problem with sparkIV, except for it doesn't work on my laptop, but it works fine on my desktop. Plus, anytime I go to download openIV, it comes up as a virus, never had that problem with sparkIV.

It's no way a virus, some antiviruses recognize it as so because of how it's made, but that's probably because you have a sh!tty antivirus xDD

It's not a shitty antivirus, if its how the program is made then its how its made. It ain't a shiity antivirus if it picks up little things and alerts me to it, I'd rather it alert me than not and have something fuck up my pc. It's BitDefender AntiVirus, highly rated too.

I use Norton and it says OpenIV is a virus. I don't think it is I just make Norton ignore it.

I used the new sparkiv on my laptop but when I open it and click ont the gta portion it sayd that it can't find the path and it wont let me open it has anyone dealt with this issue as well?

 

Make sure you are using the latest vesion of both GTA IV and SparkIV(Beta). Then you might have to manually find the directory. Press open in the top left of SparkIV and find your game directory. That should fix your problem.

 

I tried that, I am using the most current version of sparkiv and gta when I try to search the directory manually it wont alow me it just says unhandled error and wont let me look for it in my files

I wasn't talking about general support I thought tha maybe someone who had downloaded the same mod and tried to install the police vehicles like I was trying to might have more knowledge or ran into the same problem? If that makes sense
