You saw it here first folks:

@modernsnipe14, @Zach: The scripting engine itself was updated but basically works the same, finding the natives is the problem. And yes, at some point with enough data and documentation the community might be able to help.

Please do not PM me unless really necessary (knowing you helps). If you think you need my attention in a topic, tag me.

Update: It seems they have access but coding for editing going to be a pain in the ass, they describe a ''rockstar annoying encryption algorithm'' so far alexander blade i think the guy who made the dsound file is already been working two days already to crack it, it seems rockstar put a lot of effort make the files difficult for modders lets hope they can do it :)

That's for content modding; this thread is more about scripting (which is LMS's specialty). Listener and Alexander Blade also do a whole lot of scripting stuff, but OpenIV is mostly just a content modding project.

To be totally frank I really hope GTA V is not moddable because I really enjoy playing online with my buddy and we enjoy the GTA V online not some modded up police version. Unlike GTA IV if you attempt to join a regular multiplier game it's not even feasible. GTA V was created for the online experience that they intended it to be and they did a very good job at, I for one do not wish to see that ruined. I'm totally cool with sticking to my GTA IV for my LCPD:FR mods that crash every 20 minutes of game play for when I am in the mood to pretend to be a cop; something that gets old real quick when your a police academy major and notice that GTA IV LCPD:FR is really just a traffic stop and approach simulator. On that note I'll stand by my guns for defending Rockstar and hope that if and when mods come out for this game they stay on top of it to either A) keep it far far away from my multiplayer experience or B) Let the people who want to mod the game rent their own servers to run it on. Rant over.

I disagree completely, even if the game is/becomes mod-able you don't have to run the mod, and that is also why you can set up private lobbies or use public lobbies for that same sole purpose of not having a mod installed. I respect your opinion of mods can ruin the multi player experience (ie trainer with god mode or unlimited ammo/weapon spawn). Some mods enhance the experience such as LSPD-FR which allow you to flip over and play as a cop even if its just a traffic stop and approach or becomes even more then that, versus just playing as a thug.

However I do like the idea of letting those who want to mod rent their own servers. :)

It seems pretty clear that Rockstar will keep mods out of public GTAO games and related player stats - that I can think of off-hand there aren't any games that allow mods to interfere with standard, vanilla multiplayer... so basically, our standard GTAO gaming should never have a problem with any "legit" (ie. not specifically meant for hackers) mods like FR.

As such, why hope that those who do wish to mod the game don't get what they want? You can play it on GTAIV and deal with crashing if you want, myself and probably most people here would much rather play police mods on GTAV, both to have a stable base game that maybe won't have a crashing issue, and to see the new, more in-depth features PDFR and plugins can bring by having a more stable base.

My concern is being able to flip between a modded game and a vanilla game - something that mod support allows (Arma 3, Fallout/TES, Men of War, etc etc) through managers... simply toggling mods on and off. Frankly, in terms of keeping GTAO pure from a security standpoint, Rockstar would have been smart to have that, not that I've ever had any expectation they would. Most likely, toggling between mods and no mods will involve either two installs or a lot of reinstallation, which kinda sucks if GTAO stays alive anywhere near as long as Rockstar wants it to.

I mean if Rockstar wants its "pure" GTA online they should just implement a simple checksum system. Your files don't mach? No online for you, but have fun in single player. This is not the best solution for us modders as this negates any online SAPD:FR with friends. Unless that also let people of the same checksum play in their own servers together but I doubt they would go through the trouble to do that.

That doesn't work nearly as well as you think it does. Rockstar *can't* get a trusted checksum from your game, because trying that relies on the very software you're trying to detect a modification of. Nothing would be stopping you from sending the right checksum even if you're lying about it.

I bet Rockstar is just sitting back and reading all of these posts around and laughing at the amount of work and headaches they're putting us (you all) through...

LMS, have you been taught scripting or is this something you just learned on your own?

Guys, I just took a look at GTA V files with OpenIV (new update) and almost evrything is in XML. Take a look at this file - dispatch.meta. It controls the wanted level system, or more specifically, what cars and what peds spawn during which wanted level and where

http://pastebin.com/ZwMDKnve

It seems extremely easy to configure this to, say, spawn female cops alongside male ones, spawn Buffaloes and Vapids alongside Interceptors, get sheriffs to spawn alongside LSPD in the city and even get the army to spawn at 5 stars should somebody want to.

And the best part - there is more! I imagine almost every single thing in-game is configurable. Now we just have to wait for OpenIV to support editing. I'll let you know if I manage to dig up something interesting.

I love you, Yard.

I hope that eventually we will be able to install additional vehicles/pedestrians and set where they spawn, etc.

I'm pretty sure that's for console versions of the game. The PC natives are completely different.

I'm pretty certain the PC natives are the same; it would be absolutely insane for Rockstar to meaningfully change them (since that entails re-writing every single scripted event in the game), and it would be odd to rename them. It's just the hashes that are different, AFAIK; the reason it matters is that we actually can't call V natives directly, because they must be called by hash (so we need to work out the hash-function mapping before doing much, unless we want to manually figure out what every single hash does).

Yes, I do understand this -- it may surprise you I have some experience in reverse engineering. My point is the hashes which are shown in that list are completely different to the PC hashes and therefore the list isn't too useful right now. I was simplifying purely for the benefit of the user.
