  1. "This does not apply to...use or importation of other IP (including other Rockstar IP) in the project" So OpenIV just needs to cease the Liberty City project and they should be fine.
  2. I just bought Witcher 3 again (owned it on GOG) so I can make my profile a shrine to it. Now I just need to play it for as many hours as I did the GOG version. And get all of the achievements, of course. $25 for the game + DLCs, definitely worth it for an amazing game from an amazing developer: http://store.steampowered.com/app/292030/The_Witcher_3_Wild_Hunt/
  3. You should read the bright orange box at the top of this topic.
  4. Related topics merged - there really is no need to link to another topic about the exact same thing.
  5. We're talking about a couple of regular guys vs. a multi-billion dollar company. When someone with a ton of money threatens you with legal action, you follow along, even if you think they are completely wrong. That is, unless you have the money and time to fight it.
  6. So recently, a couple of Online mods were also shut down: http://www.pcgamer.com/gta-online-cheating-tool-force-hax-shut-down-by-take-two-interactive/ Both basically have the same message now: "After discussions with Take-Two Interactive, effective immediately we are ceasing all maintenance, development and distribution of the [name] cheat menu services. We will be donating our proceeds to a charity designated by Take-Two [this is slightly different]. We apologize for any and all problems [name] has caused to the Grand Theft Auto Online community." Weird that they were specifically asked to apologize and OpenIV wasn't. I thought "OpenIV enables recent malicious mods that allow harassment of players and interfere with the GTA Online experience for everybody"? Why shouldn't they apologize for all the grief they caused in Online? Oh, right, you were lying about that.
  7. I would be extremely surprised if they went after youtubers. I can understand taking down videos of people using mods in online, or even using 3rd party multiplayer mods, but not just using mods in singleplayer. They would only hurt themselves if they did and I can't see any monetary gain by doing so. As it stands, those videos are only selling more copies of the game.
  8. ScriptHookV and RPH are completely independent of each other. ScriptHook is not working with the latest GTA update, which is normal. It will need to be updated like usual, and we are just waiting for the author to do so.
  9. This topic is about the petition to Take Two to allow OpenIV. RagePluginHook is not involved in this discussion in anyway, neither is LSPDFR. Please make this the last post regarding this, anything further will be removed.
  10. This is completely irrelevant to this topic. I'm not sure how RagePluginHook was even related in the first place. Feel free to PM me with any questions, but it has always been and will always be against our rules to redistribute files that do not belong to you. Them being on your computer does not make them yours.
  11. Redistribution of anything not belonging to you is against the Community Guidelines.
  12. T2 isn't just their publisher, they own Rockstar. Rockstar is just a subsidiary of Take Two.
  13. I doubt any amount of lobbying could make modding a criminal offense. It is only a civil issue, and is even a grey area there.
  14. Nothing changed in terms of the legality of modding. Google is not involved at all and most likely would not involve themselves in this. If anything, Take Two would abuse the content ID system to remove videos using mods, but I seriously doubt that would ever happen. Something seriously needs to be cleared up: Take Two does not and cannot make laws. They did not make modding "illegal." No one will ever be arrested for modding their game. Why GooD-NTS used the term "illegal" is beyond me, probably just for publicity.
  15. You would need to own (no pirates here, right?) and install GTA IV for it to work. If anything, it would have boosted sales for GTA IV.
  16. The Liberty City project was a tool that was in development that would transfer the map from GTA IV to GTA V. You would need to have GTA IV installed for it to work; there was not going to be any redistribution of any files. Apparently someone with media ties did see the actual letter which does specify not transferring content across games:
  17. You can say "you had to know this was coming because OpenIV was always in a legal grey area" but that isn't the issue. The issue, and what pisses me off, is that they sent the cease and desist because they think OpenIV is used to interfere with Online. Not because of the Liberty City project, not because it breaks the EULA, but because they actually think OpenIV is a source that Online modders/hackers use to disrupt other players. Were they legally in the right to do it? Perhaps. But their reasoning is completely fucked.
  18. I think we can keep this in this thread: If you feel this topic has been closed in error, please report this post.
  19. Please do not share links to download OpenIV. These are unauthorized and sharing them is against our Guidelines.
  20. There's enough threads on this topic. If you feel this topic has been closed in error, please report this post.
  21. If you feel this topic has been closed in error, please report this post.
  22. Still waiting it seems. There is probably someone at Rockstar trying to write something, realizing it won't help, and throwing it in the garbage. I imagine there's a cliché garbage can full of crumpled paper in the PR department.
  23. According to GooD-NTS's edit on gtaforums, they specifically mention to stop the Liberty City in GTA V project: Meaning it is pretty likely that is why they are doing this. OpenIV has been around for ten years, but the Liberty City project has only been around for 6 months.
