  1. Have you read the instructions on how to download, install, and troubleshoot this mod? LCPD:FR is a modification for GTA IV, which means that you obviously need the game (or EFLC) in order for the mod to run. Therefore, you must have already installed the game first before any modifications can be installed, because the mods depend on the game in order to work. I thought that was stated explicitly clear in the posts following mine...
  2. By any chance, have you installed a modified carcols.dat file when installing these car mods? I know from experience that installing car mods that are optimized for slicktops, for example, include a modified carcols.dat file, which interferes with you later on if you decide to change the car to one with lightbars instead. Since you are seeing a similar problem, this is just one speculation that I can make about your problem.
  3. As far as I can tell, this is not an LCPD:FR support issue, but rather a Content Modifications support issue. SNT works for most people playing with LCPD:FR 0.95 (including me), so it's definitely a problem on your end. Anyways, I think it is best if you post a diagnostics report using the diagnostics tool to see if you missed anything while reinstalling your game and your mods. Also, are you experiencing any error codes? What do those numbers say? They may indicate script errors, which the ScriptHookDotNet.txt error log should contain if so. Please post these additional pieces of information to further troubleshoot your problem.
  4. Yes, this mod will install on the retail PC (DVD-ROM) version of the game. It should also be noted that most mods for GTA IV work best on the retail version, but not so much the download (Steam, Amazon.com, etc.) version, as I've seen more people having trouble getting mods to work on the download version.
  5. Yes, OP, you should have done at least a quick search of the forums and looked at some stickies to find out that this is a very frequent issue. There are even videos of solutions to this posted for your pleasure and convenience in those said stickies. If your issue is different from that, then you should have also followed another sticky and posted a diagnostics report using G17 Media's diagnostic tool. So I take it that you have also read the stickies, which say to make sure that, besides running the installer as administrator, your game's root directory isn't marked as "read-only." To check for this, go to your game's install folder, right-click it, and look at the "Attributes" section near the bottom. Make sure that "read-only" is unchecked. After that, right-click on the installer program, click on "Properties" in the drop-down menu, go to the "Compatibility" tab, and then check "Run program as Administrator" near the bottom. Be sure to also apply the same "Run as Admin" settings to LaunchGTAIV.exe for the mod to work.
  6. In most cases, Google is your best friend; you can find an answer to almost any question you can come up with. But, here's what I, an OCer, recommend for you (see below). "Computer temp" is too generic; I will take it that you want to monitor your CPU and GPU temps, as which are what most people worry about. There's no need to run benchmarking tools just to check the temps of your computer...that'll give you the wrong results, since you would be stressing out the computer and causing very high temps. Instead, just install and run simple hardware monitoring tools, such as Real Temp (which is what I, and OCer, use) and SpeedFan. These are generic tools for any kind of hardware. There are specific tools though, which I will elaborate on below. Most motherboard manufactuers come with their own hardware monitoring software, which also can control fan speed, temp alerts, etc. For example, ASUS motherboards use AI Suite II to monitor and control the CPU temp and fan speeds (as well as do some "AI overclocking," which I don't recommend). If you want to monitor your GPU as well, most GPU manufactuers also come with their own hardware monitoring tool as well. For example, EVGA GPUs use EVGA's Precision Tool. Hopes this information helps!

  8. Yes, it did work before, but the developers broke it when they introduced the separate taser. It works perfectly on LCPD:FR 0.95 Beta 1. Yes, I know. I'm saying the Desert Eagle comes up because I'm playing on GTA IV. I assumed the same thing happens for EFLC, give or take a different weapon. Bottom line is that this is a bug due to LCPD:FR 0.95 RC2 that was introduced when the separate taser mod was also introduced. The moment you go on duty and choose your cop ped, you will automatically be given a pistol that's different from the normal one and also automatically hold the baseball bat. Sadly, the switch by this "bug" does not also give it infinite ammo. I have my SNT set to full ammo as default so that I don't have to always go to the trunk to get more (but I have still set it to reduce bullets as I shoot to maintain having to reload so I'm not at an advantage ). So even though it does switches to the gun I want, I still have to open my SNT and select the Desert Eagle once again for it to have infinite ammo.
  9. Looks like you have a script error where the mod tried to read from/write in protected memory or tried to reference memory that isn't even there. Make sure that you are running the game with LaunchGTAIV.exe and have set LaunchGTAIV.exe to "Run as Administrator" every time by right-clicking it, selecting "Properties" in the drop-down menu, selecting the "Compatibility" tab, and then checking the box next to "Run as Administrator" and apply the settings. If problems persist, please report back with when the crashes are occuring with any error codes, if applicable.
  10. Is this happening to you right after you start LCPD:FR and go on duty? Because it does that to me...even when I have the regular pistol, going on duty will force me to equip the Desert Eagle instead. I just use SNT to get back my regular pistol. I think this is a bug with LCPD:FR and the way it handles the taser, because it did not happen in 0.95 Beta 1 but is happening in 0.95 RC2. If not, I'm not sure why your weapon is switching on its own. I've never experienced that, as the game always saves the last weapons I have equipped.
  11. Yes, I can assure you that there are definitely over nine thousand posts of this same error. OP, also make sure that, besides running the installer as administrator, you set your game's root directory to not "read-only." To accomplish this, right-click anywhere within the root folder, select "Properties," then look down at "Attributes" and uncheck the box next to "Read-only." Lastly, make sure to set LaunchGTAIV.exe to "Run as Administrator" every time (not just once, which is using the method above) by right-clicking it, selecting "Properties" in the drop-down menu, selecting the "Compatibility" tab, and then checking the box next to "Run as Administrator" and apply the settings.
  12. Only 64-bit versions of Windows can utilize more than 3GB of installed RAM. Your report indicates that your laptop is running Windows XP SP3, and I presume that it's not the 64-bit version of Windows XP either. Hence, you will only be able to use 3GB out of the 4GB that you have. The only way to get around this restriction is to use a 64-bit OS, unfortunately, as only 64-bit OS's and programs specifically written for 64-bit operating environments can utilize more than 3GB of RAM. Hope this answers your question about the "3GB RAM limit." But yes, like the others have said, you need a way more powerful computer to even play GTA IV, let alone run mods on it. I suggest upgrading to a desktop, not a laptop, as you can easily upgrade and troubleshoot desktops, but not so much for laptops. Sure, desktops are pretty much immobile, but if you're going to do some serious gaming (and modding), then you'll need a desktop to handle that. Plus, desktops are cheaper than laptops with similar specs, so it's also more worth it to invest in a desktop.
  13. If this happens without any mods, than that means your computer is to blame now--not the game. I don't know what advice to give you if you can't even run the vanilla copy of the game, because there could be a myriad of problems wrong with your computer that can be causing the game to malfunction like this. Are you absolutely sure that you cleaned out all traces of GTA IV after uninstalling and prior to reinstalling? And what do you mean by "shimmers?" Is the game window shaking, or the screen flickering, or something else?
  14. Yes, if all else fails, doing a complete reinstall of the game is best. Make sure to completely clean out all traces of the game, including any files that are left over in Program Files and in your AppData folders. It is also true that you should at least play the game up to having your first safe house and saving it there before playing LCPD:FR, because some people have trouble using the mod while starting a new game at the same time. Hope this helps! Feel free to report back and/or ask additional questions.
  15. LOL, thanks man! I'm glad you like my setup and the end results!
  16. Well, I still can hope for it, and Jay told me that with enough demand, there's a possibility that it would happen (e.g. downgrading their games). Even if they won't work for 1.0.4.0, I can still use them on my other computer that has the game running on 1.0.7.0. I just prefer 1.0.4.0 because it is much more stable (crashes way less than 1.0.7.0 does) and gives me 80+ FPS all the time, whereas 1.0.7.0 gives me only 50 FPS at most. So I would think that mods should be made to work on the best patch, which doesn't always mean the latest patch (especially in this case). This isn't just true for me; lots of people I have helped out before informed me that 1.0.4.0 has improved their performance significantly over 1.0.7.0.
  17. You know, you already have that other topic opened with basically the same issue, so why didn't you just reply back to it? It is against the rules here to open multiple support tickets for the same request for support. Not to mention, you did not follow the stickies; run the diagnostic tool, then post the report here. That's the first thing you should have done actually in your other post. After you post the report, hopefully we can see what's causing your game to crash.
  18. Unless it still doesn't work, no...these are Windows components, and don't have much to do with the game. They only have to do with the mods that utilize them (e.g. scripts, codes, etc.).
  19. Alright, here is the problem. You can only start a new game on the Load and Save Game menu, which R* Games happen to have made accessible only after you have loaded your game up. Hence, since you cannot get past the loading screen itself, the only way to start a new game is to delete any previous game saves. But before trying that, let me know if you have ever played this game before and saved a game before. If you haven't, then obviously you woudn't have a saved game, and the problem would be somewhere else. Well, that's impossible, because even if you use xliveless, GTA IV still saves other information in the AppData folder like this: C:UsersUSERNAMEAppDataLocalRockstar GamesGTA IVSettings, and this folder saves the configuration settings for your game. If you use xliveless, your saved games are saved to: C:UsersUSERNAMEDocumentsRockstar GamesGTA IVSavegames. So either you're looking at the wrong place or GTA IV isn't able to create the files that it needs to in order to run the game, which thus points to you not being an admin or not running the game with admin rights. Please run the diagnostic tool, then post the report here. After you post the report, hopefully we can see what's causing your game to crash.
  20. Alright, you've previously left out the most important parts of the log, LOL! Now I know what's causing your crashes. Your computer appears to be missing some C++ and .NET dependencies that are needed to run the mod. Even if you have these already, try reinstalling Microsoft .NET Framework 4.0 and Microsoft Visual C++ 2010. This should help, as it helped others who had the same crash error. Hope this helps you!
  21. I know what happens; you've already said that. You know that if you just press "Start," it will load your most recent game save, right? That's why I'm saying instead of loading a saved game, try to start a new game. I'm only saying this since you can't find your saved games files, which I recommend you to delete to see if that helps.
  22. Just start a new game through the main menu? Failure to get past the loading screen usually (but not always) indicates a corrupt saved game.
  23. The error log cuts off without finishing loading the scripts, so unless you are missing some of the text, this should indicate that the game has problems loading the scripts. I suggest you try reinstalling the mod, which helped other users that had clean error logs. If it still doesn't work after that, try using xliveless as your ASI loader instead of dsound.
  24. Well, if it isn't saying anything else there, then you are probably loading a saved game and not starting a new game. Therefore, a saved game should exist. Have you tried starting a new game?
