We don't deal with activities outside our site, it really does come down to that. There is no effective way we can police activity outside of it, as much as we'd want to.

The only site I can think of that does punish users for actions that they perform outside of the website is Twitter, which gets constant issues with people claiming overzealous moderation.

It is regrettable that one of our moderators expressed their own personal views on the matter, we don't advocate this position and will discuss this internally.

We'll leave this thread open if you seriously want a discussion. If this ends up just a fest of name calling, and spamming website addresses, it will be closed per our site rules.

SO per your site rules advertising of another community is [100%] punishable but theft [actual THEFT] of a product [via] your website [per] confession... is NOT something you guys are willing to administrate or address; where is the logic in that sir? Our website is a website where anyone (account or not) can download files. What they do with those files after is completely out of our control.

If you do want your files to be locked to a certain community, that's on you. But on LCPDFR.com, anyone can download files.

Modders post their work that they worked hard for, do you not think that you should try and protect it?

@Cyan Alright sir, if that is in fact the case and point - then you should [in theory] also allow free speech [within reason] obviously to the degree of the people being fucked over having a right to be angry and actively protesting YOUR actions [your being staff not necessarily you specifically] or LACK THEREOF actions to address and detour/at least attempt to address and detour the actions pissing everyone off; which is 100% well within the staffs capabilities.

so why not restrict downloading to only accounts, leaving it open to everyone is just setting yourself up to fail and get this kinda feedback.

If LSPDFR .4 was ripped would it be okay?

So i got a genuine question, IF it was LSPDFR 0.4 being leaked, What actions would you take?

Here is the problem as I see it. A member of your staff instead of taking a calm professional approach to the situation and saying something along the lines of Authors may remove their content at any time and then locking the thread decided to take shots at us. Again our intentions were never to do this until he basically called us whiny drama queens who will come crawling back. As it stands with how your site works its not feasible to protect assets anymore. We are moving those assets somewhere we can control and protect them. The goal was to do so peacefully as most of us do enjoy LSPDFR. After Erza's comments that we take as a direct representation of LSPDFR's position it greatly offended us.

You guys do not want to invest the time or effort into protecting moddlers assets. That is fine. We can work with someone who will. The blatant disrespect then attempts to straight censor us though is unacceptable.

To add to what I said above, if somebody steals your work in some way, and re-uploads to LCPDFR.com that's something that we have full control over, and can completely own the situation.

If someone downloads your files from LCPDFR.com, does whatever they do, and re-uploads it some Discord community or another site, what do you expect us to do?

Anyone who has ran a community knows that banning is fairly ineffective for a persistent enemy, and even if we did ban someone for doing that, they could just change their IP and download it anonymously.

Okay, lets have a serious discussion then.

Point: A staff member has added fuel to a fire outside of your websites castle walls, and then we get told our fire is burning to brightly

Point: Models come locked onto your site, but then there's no moderation controlling who can download it, even though there's evidence proving the DLs are just going to be ripped.

Point: As I and others have said, if this was .4 being leaked, stolen and then passed on, there'd be a more aggressive response, or is that just if it was being leaked on this site?

@Cyan (Finally someone who decides to respond to this.

Let me get this straight tho. So you are saying that if I was to download LSPD:FR, crack the source code, leak it, rename it and upload it to another website you wouldn't do anything about that because it's "out of your control"?
I highly doubt you would sit and watch it get ripped away from you just like you are watching all developers doing that.

Fix your facts.

It isn't the nature of our site -- our site is public and open to all, regardless of anything.

I mean there would be very little we could do about it if it wasn't posted on LCPDFR.com....

No; LSPDFRs source code was ripped for LSRD and they banned Fenix almost immediately upon public release

This isn't even true.

@Cyan Okay - to [more clearly define a question]
IF That is the case -> Right, LSRD was NOT reuploaded here; however, FENIX was in fact BANNED FOR his use of the source code from LSRD -> This was a big deal; the community as a whole rallied behind you guys and supported your decision to protect YOUR product; why are you guys NOT WILLING to protect everyone elses the way we backed y'all for protecting your own.

Like I said in the thread Ezra deleted. How can you so boldly claim that none of the model thefts are occurring here. When I can log out of lcpdfr.com right now and download every mod on it without ever registering.  How dumb do you think these guys are that are doing this?  Does the staff here truly believe that they aren’t just one of the im sure Hundreds of guest accounts a day, week, or month that just download files. And i know its doable because I’ve done it thinking I was logged in but really wasn’t
