Chicago Police's New Livery

Featured Replies

CPD held a contest inside the department to design new decals for their patrol cars. Each of the 22 patrol districts submitted a design, this was the result....

I'm really not sure what to think of the design, but I agree with you.  I'm getting a bit tired of black and white.

I need donations to help fund my food addiction. DM for details 😂

Pls no.

I'm sick of it.

The Chicago PD must be the only one to use the Battenberg Stripe in the US.

Needless to say, the "We Serve & Protect" part needs to be eliminated at the very least, in my opinion.

the Battenburg Comeback

Here is the Polizeikommissar Officer GILLETTE ABDI

Wow the new livery sucks... looks like a f1 safety car....  First of all why the hell would the car number be two times bigger than POLICE??!! I need glasses to see that's the actual police department car coming to save me, not some promotional van of a nearby shopping mall...

I actually like the first one. The second 2 are pretty meh. Thing is I would rather departments be different and have some form of self identity then plan ass black and white, all black or all white.

Police cars should be eye catching their job is to be visible. Presence patrols mean absolutely nothing if people don't see or notice you which is the first part of proactive policing. Ghost cars are great for the second part. Catching the people watching for the visible cars only. Without the first the second isn't going to be nearly as effective.

The second part of this is the reason most cars are going the route of the FHP cruiser is to increase visibility from nearly all angles. Its why everything is reflective. Its also why all Ambulance and Fire Trucks have to put those ugly ass chevrons on all their new equipment. Visibility ideally increases surviving the roads.

Now with all that said the Chicago Pattern is just as ugly as the previous one. The only reason to have the Unit Number so plainly visible is for the increase in recordings. Its   CYA for the department to crucify their guys if they fuck up.

I like the stripe. That's the only thing I like here...

I mean, a huge star tucked somewhere in the upper right corner of the vehicle? This horrible angle of the stripe and writing? Just like this new Detroit PD design.

I agree, a unique design for a PD is always a good thing as well as the visibility, but if drivers sometimes fail to see lights (you Americans put them on every detail nowadays :D ), would they notice a reflective stripe? On the other hand, in 1960's there were a handful of good looking, neat and professional liveries...

I don't know why they want to change, the previous livery was good enough. Why trying to fix something that isn't broken?

Its the department trying to reinvent itself after this shooting , ignoring the fact that they won't reskin older cars and CPD use their cars up to 10 years so odds are the old livery will still be prevalent into the 2020s.  While using the star logo and getting rid of the CAPS star (which has only existed in name since the mid 2000's) is good, the rest is pretty horrid, I would prefer going back to a hybrid of the current scheme and this paint scheme.
