Yeah. A bunch of people on Reddit said the servers are down from a DDoS attack, so that's probably why.

I put in about 2 hours last night.  Overall I like the feel of the game.  Can't say I've ever been killed by a horse or a shovel until yesterday lol.

Open beta without any attachments! EA & DICE are dead to me!

Jumping into the back seat of a biplane while being shot at by a fighter, then taking out the fighter and bailing out moments before hitting a mountain. I forgive you, EA & DICE.

I had a game last night where I was sniping with the cavalry class in a building, and these 3 guys came up the stairs one by one and I killed them all with my M1911, then once my health had recovered, two more came up and I killed them both with my cavalry sword and got away on 2 health. I was laughing so hard, I'm so glad melee is actually effective in BF1. It let me build up a 12 kill streak, something I haven't managed to achieve since Battlefield 3 (where I got a 48 killstreak on foot).

The sword animations on foot are retarded. Much more enjoyable to bury a shovel into someone's neck.

It is more effective, so much fun. Although I ran into a glitch yesterday when attacking someone, I started playing the anim for the final hit that kills them and they slid away to the side and emptied a round of bullets into my face. I might have shouted "WTF".

I've had a few like that, where you charge at someone, clearly bury your bayonet into them yet they still manage to kill you. Latency issues I guess.

The worst for me has been trying to mantle rocks, I'm constantly getting the jumping animation but not actually jumping over the object, so annoying, it's got me killed a number of times.

Can confirm this, even though I had just a few melee kills.

 

 

I do still seem to have the same issue I've always had with Battlefield back when I still played them, the game likes to place me on the losing team against a bunch of super snipers that kill you from fuck knows where before you even see them.

Then again, that might just be me being shit at online FPS games. Who knows.

I've found the matchmaking to be pretty decent to be fair, but then I'm not shit at online FPS games :P

I haven't experienced that, but then I haven't tried mantling rocks. I like that you can now climb over walls and stuff though, that's nice.

Yeah the team randomizer is nice, you're unlikely to end up with one team completely decimating the other although it still happens. I have had a few games where we've been dominated or I've gone on a death streak. I don't think I'll ever be as good as I was in BF3, but I did have like 3000 hours in that game...

I'm always getting it trying to climb up rocks q_q, and yeah, that's nice. You can pull yourself up over higher ledges.

Two things I have established after another few rounds:

-Taking the flag closest to the enemy base is a really popular tactic for some reason

-Taking a plane in dense fog was a stupid idea

Tactic 1 is great as you spawn behind most of their team and cut off their vehicle spawns. We do this in BF4 a lot as it can seriously fuck teams over.

I downloaded it! It's actually good fun. Fast paced, and it looks wonderful.

It's only 8 gigs.

I honestly wasn't expecting that much (I'm more of modern shooter guy), but BF1 has absolutely blown me away. The graphics alone are a huge improvement, never mind the gameplay which is fast paced and exciting.
