Do you think her action's were justified?

Actually EVI it is a felony. He violated Florida State Statute 316.1935 Fleeing to Elude which is a felony of the 3rd degree. I think the trooper was justified for one she thought the car was stolen in the first place and two who cares if he is a cop, if he is willing to run from another cop then how do we know he's not willing to shoot another cop. I understand what professional courtisey is, but that is too far. Police aren't above the law and they are actually held to a higher standard than everyone else and if you can't handle that then you shouldn't be a cop. I have about 3 months left in my police academy (which also in Florida) and one of the first classes we had was on integrity and ethics. What that Miami cop did was not only unethical, but extremely dangerous. If that cop had hit and killed someone everyone would be screaming for that cops head and asking why cops are allowed to get away with this and all the normal shit that comes with those incidents.

Wrong, the officer was charged with reckless driving, which is a misdemeanor. Even though the officer is an idiot for driving at that speed(if he really was), it was not a felony. The trooper should have charged him with fleeing if she felt she had probable cause. Unless there were reports of a police car that was stolen, I don't see how she could gather even reasonable suspicion that this car was stolen(but maybe she knows more than us). Miami is known for their reckless drivers. Police, Fireman, TROOPERS, citizens regularly speed, sometimes over 100 mph. Your assumptions are ridiculous, I never stated that he should have received professional courtesy, nor did I state that it should be accepted. If you actually read what I wrote, my comments are about the trooper, not the officer.

Okay, you have 3 months left at the academy. I already graduated from the academy. I am an active certified L.E.O(in Florida), you a lot to learn before you start telling me "if you can't handle that then you shouldn't be a cop".

@Asuna, sooo failing to yield while doing 120+ isn't? what planet are you from?

Reckless driving, a 1st degree misdemeanor.

@Pedro Traffic violation !? Wow.... you should read more.... Endangering life of innocent people, driving 120 mph!! on an official vehicle, no emergency, plus!! failing to stop after long minutes, he knew he was being pulled over, he just play stupid... So what if, an off duty cop running at 120 mph hit your car, kill one of your passanger. Would you say that of her or would you say, thanks officer ! -_- smph

You should re-read my comment instead of this ignorant remark. No where did I state it was acceptable what the officer did. Yes, it was a TRAFFIC VIOLATION, reckless driving is a criminal traffic violation. Simply said, the Trooper had probable cause for the stop due to reckless driving. It was not a felony, and should have been handled completely different. She should have gotten his car number and reported it to his supervisor. In fact, she disobeyed her superior,

Then an unidentified person on the radio tells Watts: "If they tell you it's a patrol car, just have her back off." http://articles.cnn.com/2011-11-04/us/us_florida-cop-reckless-driving_1_patrol-car-miami-officer-miami-police?_s=PM:US

@dralis83 Slim must be a youngster stating his thoughts, although, i've been a POST CERT officer for 8 years and going in a population of 67,000+ she was justified, and did the right thing, he stated he was "Off duty" traveling to a nearby school that his department gives "security" too... But running 120mph non-code3, absolutely un called for.... Sorry Slim, decent video to cause a stir, but until you actually hit the road you shouldn't try to justify someone else's case when you have no idea of the the job details, I hope you the best in this career in the future.......

Regardless of if you are an L.E.O. or not, I will treat your comment as truthful. There was nothing wrong with the stop(she had probable cause, but I would have handled it differently). The use of force deployed was unnecessary as that could have been a day 2 police officers were killed(or 1). I feel highly threatened by anybody(other police, military, ect) who is pointing a weapon at me while I am in uniform and in my fully marked car. It should have been handled where a supervisor would have been contacted with his car number to prevent a possible situation where deadly force might have been used. If this officer were to kill somebody, the blood would be on his hands. Reporting it to the supervisor frees the trooper of neglect as she did her duty. The liability would now fall on her supervisor, his supervisor and the officer. It would be a sad day for those in L.E. to lose 2 brothers/sisters of ours.

To the first negative comment, you are on a video game website. I simply release my 3d models here, what's your excuse?

Second comment, if you are willing to pull a gun on a fully uniformed police officer in a marked police car, you are willing to kill a police officer. A gun is not for intimidation, a gun is DEADLY FORCE and is to be used in a situation when a subject has caused a belief that they are likely to cause great bodily harm or death. Reckless driving doesn't constitute that, a traffic violation. Even, if she knew the car was stolen and a felony stop was warranted it would be a pretty smart idea to get backup there before attempting to do one by yourself...I haven't seen that taught at the academy, must be under F.H.P.'s Super Trooper for dummy's section of their academy book(no offense).

As a sheriff's deputy in Florida myself I've had more of a front-row seat for all of this drama in the past few months. What many people aren't aware of is the amount of tension between the law enforc

Well only the first part of my comment was directed to you, the rest was in response to some of the other comments. And I wasn't talking about what the Miami officer was actually charged with I'm talking about what he could have been charged with. He could have been charged with Fleeing and I think the only reason he wasn't is because he was a cop and there was some professional courtsey. I'm willing to bet if anyone else had done that they would have been charged with Fleeing.

I'm right...this has turned into a huge fucking pissing contest about who knows the law, here's the down low, some dick was doing 120 in a cop car..got his ass busted, who the fuck cares what happened after he was pulled over

Edited by Asuna

I meant i was right about the it turning into a "im right mother fucker and i know it" contest NOT about the if the trooper was in the right

EVI, I don't want to start up an argument, but operating to endanger is a felony in many states, including the one I reside in now. Besides, what she charged him with and what he could be charged with are two different things. Debatable law B.S aside, I'm glad nobody got shot. With the recent local police chief killing fresh in my mind, nobody needs to get shot right now.

Okay okay, the officer was driving 120MPH, i don't really know how the MPH system work's, (i'm canadian, so we use KMH), If i'm not wrong that would be 170Km/h? or something close to that, anywho we all know he was WAY over the speed limit, which IS probable cause to be pulled over and your license cut up right in front of you, however, there were no report's of a police vehicle stolen, nor officer down, he was in a MARKED CRUISER wearing a POLICE UNIFORM, state trooper's and city police have different radio frequencies do they not? for all we know he could have been dispatched to a scene in hurry (we obviously know now he wasn't), EVI is right, that is only a traffic felony, nothing more, nothing less, no one can justify even a police officer driving that fast for no reason no light's or siren's, nonetheless, it's still only a traffic felony, and didn't deserve to have a gun pointed at him just for driving to fast..

@Asuna, wanna keep the swearing to a minimum, please?

EDIT: why argue about it? as EVI said, "it's a video game site"..

Don't me mad bro

I do NOT blame the female trooper at all for drawing her weapon. Think about it. He was driving at an excess of 100 miles per hour without any lights or sirens. The female radio'd in the description and they did not notify her if he was on a call. If the Officer was in fact on his way to the call then he should've kept going while they initiated radio contact. The Trooper wasn't sure if the vehicle was stolen and later in the video she explained to him she had heard of a Police Vehicle being stolen and it ended up with shots fired. She did not know what was going to happen and she felt on safe at the time, because an Officer should not EVER be driving at an excess of 100 let alone 120 without lights or sirens. Though if you notice, she was guilty of this her self, and I think she should also receive a citation for reckless driving. She deactivated her lights and sirens as she was catching up to him.

It took her 6 minutes or so to catch up to him, she initiated her spot light and directed it through the back window, those are very bright and should immediately attract attention. I've been in my house while an Officer was going around my neighborhood with his spot light on, I saw him down the road and across the street through woods. It isn't hard to see them and it isn't hard to see flashing lights. Especially if your trained to be aware of your surroundings. Patrol Cruisers are equipped with shotguns and may have a personal or second weapon in the front portion of the interior.. She had no idea if this was stolen or if he had a firearm. If you notice, she put her weapon away immediately after he was handcuffed. The Officer handled it well, he complied and respected her. The cuffs should have been taken off when he was verified to be an Officer. It is not impossible to get a realistic police uniform. He may have been impersonating one from the start..

Yes that's true!! Good source for those saying.... he is a police officer she shouldn't do that.....

It would have been an interesting circumstances when the off-duty, non-code 3 vehicle crashes at high speed and kills a civilian.

The assumption that police can do whatever they want when wearing their uniforms and in their vehicles in an inherently flawed one.

It's very easy to pass judgement after the fact when you know all this other information that has come to light since but if you put yourself in the shoes of that highway patrol officer I think you'd have a hard time not following protocol with the felony stop.

yes, it's a video game based site but, if i want to talk about GTAIV i would have posted in the GTAIV discussion forum :), comparing a video game to someones life is just wrong, anyway, back on topic.

This is a video game based site son, if you want a serious discourse about the topic other than starting a troll fest, I suggest you head on over to the PoliceLink site where this has been discussed many, many times now by more informed sources than interweb armchair police officer wannabes... lighten up.

Talk in a respectable tone to other members, don't get a bitchy attitude like that.
