It's damned if you do, damned if you don't. Release a mod early in its progress, and people complain that it doesn't have all the features they expected or that it has bugs. Release updates too often

  • Coastal Callouts has been in 'semi-public beta' since before 0.4 was even announced.  We announced our plans for the API for 0.4 and we're trying to release it, for free, to everyone, as quickly as we

There's probably a callout like this but is it possible to add a callout for a shark sighting where you need to go over and see if there is a shark (Chance for shark attack on people)

or a callout for a cruise ship (yacht) attacked by pirates?

Do you have an ELS jetski model? If so, PM me. So far nobody's made a fully UV-mapped jetski. It's an annoying model to work with. I'd like to add a jetski with lights but have been waiting for someone to UV map it. Haven't had time to do that yet myself.

I tried extensively to script a shark attacking someone, and have not been successful in doing so. Sharks will randomly attack the player sometimes, but I can't get them to attack on command, or to attack other peds. If I can get that working, I'll add a shark attack callout.

As for ship attacked by pirates, that's planned but on hold pending some specific technical advances which will allow combat movement (AI peds being able to move around and take cover behind things) on vehicles. There are some people working on this but it's not done yet. Once that's implemented and I am able to add vehicle navmeshes for the ships in the mod, I will add some piracy callouts.

@PNWParksFan   will the mod at release or in the future have one or both of these units especially with a hijack callout or a terrorist on board a yacht or ship callout?

Well it has been a while since I posted a progress update, so let's do that! I was super busy with work in April and early May, so I did not make much progress. In the past couple weeks though I've had some time and have made a lot of progress with the new plane features. With the new cargo plane capabilities you can load any cargo in your plane (if it'll fit), including both props and vehicles. As long as there's room, you can load multiple cargo items at once. Cargo can later be unloaded after you reach your destination, and it never slides around or damages the vehicle. I am also developing a feature allowing you to air drop cargo. You can stage the cargo on the ramp of the plane, and then when you press a key it will be dropped. Cargo can be dropped with or without a parachute. I will be adding special cargo types with additional features that can integrate into the callouts, such as the ability to deploy life rafts and signal flares.

I have also been making a ton of fixes to various bugs and shortcomings of other code in the project. Most of it is internal stuff that will make the game more stable and perform better when using Coastal Callouts.

Items left to do before release include finishing these plane features, adding a simple mountain rescue callout, and developing the custom installer system. I am still on target to release the mod sometime in 2018. In the meantime, if you'd like to check out the beta, please see the link in my signature below.

Here are some screenshots from the plane feature development:

Sorry for the late reply but you need to download it from a website after donating like 20 dollars a year? Just google PNWParksFan coastal callouts and buy the parks benefactor addon and you should get an email

This is really going to make Del Perro beach patrols awesome, looking foward to it's release. Any updates on when it will be available for the entire community?.

I will obviously post an update here once I have a release date set, but I don't yet. Just depends entirely on how much time I have and how long it takes to do things. You can find a summary of my recent progress and next steps in the periodic development updates that I post here.

I usually send invitation emails to people who've donated within 24 hours. However this weekend I was on a trip and didn't have access to my computer, so I just got to send invites to new donors a couple hours ago. Check your email for details.

Early access is available for donors. You can see the link in my signature for details. It will be released sometime in 2018. To be honest, I had hoped to have it released already by now. But unfortunately my work schedule has been more intense than usual this spring, so development has been delayed. Things are definitely still moving along though and there will be a free public release later this year

Do you have an estimated time frame on when later this year is going to be? I've been waiting on this mod for a long time and I'm hyped that it's going to be released this year.

I don't know how to make it any more clear than I have on no less than a dozen occasions in this thread that I don't have a specific release date, and that when I do I will post it here.

Happy Fourth of July! A new Fireworks Display callout is now available to beta testers. Spent most of the week developing that, but will be back to working on plane features shortly.

PNWParksFan, could you possible message me how you were able to put the defender on a trailer from the water?

It is a custom part of the Coastal Callouts scripts which I wrote.
