are there any updates on this @PNWParksFan?

The contents of the mod are mostly ready for release. I need to make some final updates to the vehicles, including some adjustments for FiveM compatibility. I am also currently working on the custom installer, which will provide multiple installation options for different components of the mod, and will handle installing a gameconfig and other prerequisites for the mod to load. Not going to be many exciting screenshots in this time as it's all pretty boring behind the scenes work, but the final steps before release are being worked on!

I'll have to see when LSPDFR 0.4 comes out how much I need to change to get the mod to run and not conflict with the new changes. Hopefully that won't set things back too far... I should be able to get basic support for 0.4 in the initial release of Coastal, with an update to follow eventually with deeper integration once I get a chance to explore the new APIs.

@PNWParksFan You should add a callout where you either see or are called to a oil or gas spill and have to use a spill clean up kit to remove the oil or gas from the water and once you have finished cleaning it up you will have to go and track down the source of the spill perhaps a marina or a boat then you could possibly investigate if its the marinas fault for poor oil storage or if its the boaters fault for accidentally spilling gas by an overflow also there should be a version of this callout where a marina or a boater knew they spilt oil or gas and reported it.

Will there be any beach/coast-based callouts, like people on restricted beach or illegal swimmming. Also, incidents on the pier and simple first aid calls might be ok. In this country, when people are injured on an inaccessible beach or part of the coast, the coastguard comes in a 4x4 and rescues them, taking them to the waiting ambulance...

Also, a coast-guard hover-craft would be a brilliant idea... For accessing people not far out, or in places where water is shallow or spread out...

Well done this is going to be a brilliant mod!

I do have some plans for an oil spill callout. Probably won't make it into the initial public release - right now I'm focusing on getting everything ready for release so everyone can enjoy it, but I will continue to add new callouts in the future.

There is some stuff sort of like that, but there are not a ton of beach callouts at the moment. I may add more in the future though!

Sorry folks, but it's too early for me to have any answers about future LSPDFR 0.4 compatibility. I don't anticipate releasing Coastal Callouts until the future API Update for LSPDFR 0.4 that the developers have announced plans for, at minimum. At the moment, a number of things don't work in LSPDFR 0.4, including crucially the ability to do traffic stops on boats. Please note that there are also other things I need to finish which are not directly related to the release of LSPDFR 0.4. I will post more information here once I have more to share.

Great work your doing Parks! I just got a few questions about the awesome mod itself. What agencies will we be able to play as? Also, how will this be installed? (Auto/ Manual/ OpenIV). Finally, how big will the mod be, and will it include all of the bases/ watercraft/ aircraft/ and vehicles in the base install? I've been following this project for a while now and am happy to see all of the progress being made. Keep up the good work!

Thanks for the encouragement 🙂

I need to look more into the agencies framework that LSPDFR 0.4 provides to see how Coastal Callouts might integrate into that in the future. In terms of mod content though, it's designed to be very open-ended, so you could play as a variety of agencies and customize things to your liking. Coastal has its own customization XML files similar to the LSPDFR 0.4 agency/station customization files, which lets you customize in which areas what types of boats and helicopters will respond. Agencies that are all represented in some way or another include:

  • US Coast Guard
  • Los Santos County Sheriff  (I don't have anything set up separately for BCSO, but you could add customization for Blaine County if you wanted)
    • Marine patrol boats
    • Rescue helicopter
  • Los Santos Port Police
  • Los Santos Fire Department (fire boat, and fire rescue helicopter)
  • Los Santos Lifeguards

The installation process is one of the main things still holding up release. It's a very complicated mod to install, because of how much content it adds to the game in so many different types and locations of files. Right now it's all manual install, and a lot of beta testers have complained about the install process being tedious. Most people get something wrong on the first try. So I am building a custom installer that will install everything. It will not require OpenIV to install. I will include manual installation instructions for those who prefer it, but would strongly recommend doing the automatic install for most people.

The mod will include the full Coastal Callouts DLC with over 20 different vehicles including boats, planes, helicopters; several custom peds; a multitude of map and ambient scenario edits; custom props; and more. I will probably provide a "basic" install option with only the required custom props and without any vehicles/peds/map edits for people who might not want all the DLC content.
