What does everyone think about the rails? Should there be more of them, like on the sides or hood area, or no because they're kind of useless?

Was playing around with the R* Editor and image editing with the Bearcat a few weeks ago :-)

  • Nearing the end.. I hope to release the bearcat tomorrow, 2/6/2016. If I can't however, then I will definitely release it the next day on 2/7.   I finished making all of the LODs (

  • After much, much, wait, I have finally worked on the Bearcat for an update.   For Multiple livery support, I had to re-map the whole thing. However, I tried to make the template very close (

I wouldn't mind seeing a few more handles. Based on images of newer bearcats, you could add one on either side of the hood aswell as either side of the windshield.

I love it so far! Good to see progress, and I really like the handles. I may make an LAPD S.W.A.T. texture for it, but I've got 0 experience in that direction ^^

Oh, and if you still need some: I'd be happy to test the Bearcat! :D

Pretty big update, got the vehicle in-game finally.

There are less bugs than I expected, but there are also some I never would've expected.

Many screenshots are below and in the spoiler. Tell me what you think.

Spoiler

I added an indicator on the side view mirrors as well as in the regular spot

(Note: The headlights and indicators are most likely temporary for now until I can get some better ones.)

Doors all work as expected and they seem to open on the hinges correctly.

Minor bug, I believe I just have to most the taillight dummies closer to the car.

They hang on too low because I wasn't quite sure how high to put the dummy, but that is an easy fix. I am also going to look into have more than two get into the back because I'd love to have 4-6 in the back and only have them on the sides for certain things. It's pretty unsafe for them out there on the freeway and such.

Using my own bearcat against me... how despicably genius.

Some textures don't look very HD and I will look into that.

What does everyone think about the general size of it? I was trying to make it slightly smaller than the vanilla Riot but not too small because it is still a fairly large vehicle.

I think it would be better if you don't let people hang off the side of the truck, its the worst thing ever, if you have SWAT bodyguards they refuse to get into the truck unless you fill up the hanging slots

As for the size of the Truck i think pretty good, its not that much taller than a regular van

I'm european but as far as I know they're not that large, as you think.

The Netherlands uses them for SWAT

Yeah, I will do my best to find a work around so that more can fit in the back because I really don't like them hanging off the sides either. They fall off if you try to go between cars and I think it does look a little silly driving around (especially long distances) with them on there.

However, if a lot of people like that feature, then I can probably make another version that allows them to be on the sides.

I'm really not sure why R* added that feature, the AI cops don't last 20 seconds on the side. And the worst thing about it is by the time you reach a crime scene you vehicle is painted red :/

Probably because that seems to be the stereotype when you google Bearcats

But even if this isn't strictly for a nice photo, when they hang onto the sides in real life, it's under much different circumstances than what happens in-game.

I know right? They do it for quick dismount when traveling short distance at low speed, but GTA logic is "oh let's travel at 80 mph on the freeway with our guys hanging off the rail!"

10 hours ago, officerAMR said:

Yah, i dont think its a good idea to hang on the sides of a vehicle going 50mph

@officerAMR i mean it depends on the departments regulations and the way they train their swat officers, because different departments train different officers for different type of deployments off of APCs ranging from Quick-Style dismount to full cover deployments depending on range of threat and whats needed, for warrants a quick dismount is great because its effective, fast and the officers can overwhelm someone where as when your getting fired upon and your Armored vehicle is taking fire, a full cover deployment is a way better option because officers can dismount behind the apc and use it as a cover point as they move along engaging the targeted threat. If you watch dallas swat they show some of the bearcat deployments and how they do it.

So, I removed the ability for anyone to hold on to the sides of the vehicle. However, those positions were set up as seats, so by moving them inside, when more than two are in the back, the others are in the holding on to side of vehicle animation and it looks very strange indeed. So I will have to do some more testing with the vehicles.meta and I hope by maybe changing the vehicle layout to an Insurgent or some other vehicle it will fix it.

I also added 'extra lights' which are the flood lights on the top which now act the same as the spotlight on the vanilla police3. Although it seems to be too bright even when off so I have to do some tweaking. I also added double tires for the rear tires.

Oh i do like that.. Is that replacing the Police Riot or is it for the Insurgent? Also any chance you could do a variant with an Arjent style lightbar like the LAPD have? (not entirely needed right away of course.. the default lightbar is perfectly fine :D)

If you want to me reply as soon as possible, then either quote or @CouthInk4  me as i'll be notified, a general reply will not notify me

The actual vehicle file will still replace the police riot, but hopefully a tweak to the police riot's vehicle.meta will fix the seat issue because the seats are coded in to be a specific way. And I haven't tested it yet but I assume vehicle_layout would be the seating layout.

Will it have multiple liveries or just the one?

It will have multiple, I just have to see how GTA V does those :)

This looks fantastic! I personally like the idea of my SWAT Team hanging off the sides (although I get the point as to why it's not logical) as it means I can get out safely under fire while my guys play target practice for a change

But in all seriousness I'd like a variation where they can hang from the sides as well as have them seated inside if possible, and please for the love of god keep the vanilla lighting set up. Looks so much better in a vanilla game like mine.

Cheers!
