I really hope GTA VI takes place in Vice City. It's one of the city Rockstar didn't do a remake for the HD Universe.

  • I really don't see them making the whole of the US. Even if they where to make it at the much smaller rate. Just look at the size of your game folder for GTA V, now imaging GTA VI with a lot more citi

In my opinion, R* has already parodied modern society perfectly. It'd be amazing to see what they could do now, with a Vice City set in the 1980's. Imagine having an old tube TV in your in-game a

Most likely not. There have been rumors that it would take place back in Liberty City, but with a bigger map than IV. However, we still don't have enough information on that right now. All we know is that it has been confirmed by Rockstar Games and the release date is expected to be 2019.

I'd love for a change in the location, to how it's done and all. I think they thought about the game logically and ironed out idea's for it. Grand Theft Auto in London could be an interesting concept and all. However at the same time, a return to Vice City would be great as well, wouldn't mind returning to that map again.

I agree as well. Vice City would be very nice choice.

I'm fine with a remake of any GTA city or London but I still dream that R* or somebody else will choose Kentucky (Harlan County) and basically make "Justified" the video game. :)) Man I loved that show...

I definitely agree with that but I wouldn't mind a new location either. I think the most important thing is that the location is versatile the one thing that I love about Los Santos is the different regions especially for LSPDFR. I'd love to see maybe like a Denver or Seattle that has a big city yet has some really good wilderness and mountains that could be patrolled.

The vast empty area on the north part of the GTA V map isn't big and wilderness-ey enough for you?

Those cities have plenty of crime, don't get me wrong; but they're not interesting. They're not hot spots. They're not cultural icons. They'd definitely do a GTA based on Europe before they do a city like one of those.

I was watching a video a few days ago actually about GTA 6, after been shown all the little hints to Vice City (like plane tickets in Michael's house, towels etc) Vice City could be a thing.. especially looking at the name GTA VI.

My guess is that it'll be Vice City, that is the only city to not be done in the HD world that was in the 3D world. also London could be good, but with it only appearing in the 2D world i doubt it'll make a return, especially since Rockstar likes to keep their cities fictional in GTA.. London is the only real world location to appear in any GTA Game. They might even make Carcer City (which has been mentioned many times throughout the years) in GTA 6 and make it it's first appearance in GTA.

I'd hope it's Vice City though, i'd love to see a bran new Vice City with their new RAGE engine. I'm also interested to see their story since when i hear Vice City i can only imagine the 80's

I did enjoy it yet it felt to barren to me looking at how epic GTA 6 is going to be I'd love to see a lively wilderness and just a bigger feel like I'm in the forests especially for patrolling. But your right those cities out there aren't unique enough to warrant a game. I wouldn't mind a Vice City thought with a swamp and marshes with alligators that would be awesome!

Detroit might be a good place for a GTA game. (Isn't this "Carcer City" the Detroit of the GTA world anyway?)

But I would love to see Vice City in the HD world.

Granted it might not be big, but Chicago would be interesting. I don't care though, but I don't think I'm feeling the whole Liberty City again. Don't get me wrong I like Liberty, it's just I feel like it's too soon for a repeat of Liberty, but to each their own!

Some people were thinking it may be all of the US or at least most of it, or just a big ass map, I mean in it's not like they don't have the resources to do it lol

Do you have any idea how long it took to get Google Maps and Google Street view functional? Street View alone took 6 years from the beginning of a university study. Still not all of the U.S. is mapped, and currently the area of the planet that has been mapped takes up about 20 petabytes of storage space. Keep in mind this is two dimensional imagery at 11 megapixels. They are not using any kind of geometry, shadow, lightning, reflection, particle effects or water rendering here. These are purely 2D textures in a panorama. There's no telling how much space a 3D game based off of that much 2D map content with a higher resolution would be. If you tried to load that big of a "map" with pedestrians, cars, a weather system, day/night cycle, world events, indoor areas, interactive objects, mission content and more, you'd likely die of old age before the progress bar reached the other side of the screen, provided your computer would run that long. Computer hardware is going to have to advance a lot further before we see anything like this. Keep in mind that as big as Liberty City or San Andreas might feel, you can get across the entire city in a couple of minutes in a car. That's impossible in real life, even if your foot was welded to the floor of your car. The maps we use for these games are severely down sized compared to the real cities. And where would the content to cover all of that space come from? It would take an unimaginable amount of time to give the player something to do on every block of the map.

Not to mention there would be no need to release another new Grand Theft Auto game, ever, as the map would cover the entire country or possibly the entire planet. What would be next? Grand Theft Asteroid? Oh sh*t, I better get to Mars and reduce my wanted level before the space police catch up to me.

:s I didn't mean the exact version of the Us, I meant maybe a few states connected (take the first The Crew game for example), something of that sort, not just one small version of a state that they have now.

You know there was a topic here earlier that stated if the GTA five map was in real life, it take two hours to get across the entire map, I'd imagine for Liberty City (GTA 4) it would take an hour to get from Alderney prison to the Airport.

That's with the assumption that the next GTA will even have a single player mode. It'd be hard to mod a MMO. As of late R* have only been developing DLC for the abomination that is GTA Online, and likely wont release any DLC for single player. The next GTA could be an MMO, and that's assuming R* have lost their minds and their way of tradition, which they're already changing. It's concerning, but we'll have to wait and see. It will be the death of our modding community if that turns out to be true, at least I think. R* has already banned/threatened to sue the FiveM mod creators, which is simply outrageous.

It seems like they're turning into EA. Focusing less on SP and more on Multiplayer will be the death of SP, or at least the quality. I'm surprised there hasn't been more of a concern from the gaming community. I suppose everyone is too distracted by the so called "DLC" that just mostly includes million dollar vehicles to encourage more grinding. I really miss the quality DLC episodes R* used to be noted for. Anyway, enough of my babbling.

I personally believe the next GTA will be set in Vice City. If not, I believe it will have multiple cities to travel between, including Vice City, as R* have stated interest in doing before. They can be unpredictable, so we wont know until it's official. I remember everyone was expecting GTA V to be set in Vice City, simply because the GTA 3 era went in the order of: Liberty City, to Vice City, to San Andreas. That never turned out to be true.
