Why so many European and Japanese car mods?

Featured Replies

One thing I have noticed about the GTA modding community as a whole, is that it is over run with Renaults, Russian cars, and Nissans (in the GTA 4 modding community, there was over 50 types of Nissan skylines, its ridiculous). I have nothing against these car brands, but why so many of them?

Why so many American car mods? There's a whole other modding world out there, not everyone is from the USA.

I see your point in repetitive modifications of the same car, however. It's a bit annoying when you're trying to find something new and interesting, only to find the same type of car but just with a little tweak. (I've seen so many hatchbacks with ridiculous body kits, spoilers/rims etc. infesting download pages)

Back in the San Andreas days there was a bigger focus on American, mostly old, cars. I think it may have something to do with the average age of the modders that are currently active who, in general, belong to newer generations than the ones who were active back in the day, who probably grew up with a bigger influence of those American cars either by real life or cultural references as movies or TV than the later generations have.

You could say the same for Crown Victorias.

We've barely had vehicle modding for over a month and there are already what, 4 Crown Victorias out there? If not more? That's the reason why I got into car modding myself, so I can have the things that I would enjoy. Not everybody wants the same overly done police car packs with the latest in policing technology that has been done 10 times already in the past 6 months.

I think a lot of it has to do with wanting to be better than the other. Luckily for me, there's not much of a race for egotistical acceptance for most of the work I do since everyone is more concerned with having their overly equipped high tech Christmas tree police car mods.

I agree with AlexTolle here. I have some acquaintances who just can't go on duty (virtually) without their beloved Ladas, UAZs and similar Russian shitty police cars. But the problem is connected with quality of these f**king car models: the majority of them is converted and reconverted (from GTA:SA) by amateurs!

Shit, I live in the middle of Kansas and I use Double Dopplers cars on occasion.

Yea, I noticed that also, I think they love the police cars thats used in their state or countries, that's why they make them n share them to people that love it, To be sincere, if I can make cars mods, I will only make based on police cars that are used in my State New Jersey, especially the New Jersey State Police crown vics and Georgia State Police Dodge Chargers because they have the best state police cars in the country.

I'm probably the black sheep of the European community because I can't stand having anything that's not LA inspired in my GTA V. I'd rather have 10 versions of Crown Vics, Tahoes and Chargers than LSPD Ferrari, Skodas or Volvos. An LSPD Dacia Logan would be my worst nightmare. :))

Back in the days of IV modding I was asking myself the similar question, opening the Downloads section and staring at endless CVPIs and Chargers. That's why 5 years ago, when I began looking for modded cars, I chose modified default vehicles lol.

I guess you could say the same for all the different Crown vics, primarily on GTA IV than here (so far), despite there being quite a lot of Crownies being thrown on here, granted they're very well done.

The only thing I can't stand about other car mods that differ from North American cars is that it just feels out of place for me, you would never see a shitty Lada police car in California as a high-way patrol car, or really anything for that matter. It breaks immersion for me, but that's just me and to each their own. Nothing for me really beats the old 1980's and 90's Crownies and Caprice's, but at least those feel in place for the California scene rather than let's say a Lamborghini.
