Yeah me too, I was looking to see if there was any new info on ELS V and saw on your Status how you'd re-looked this thread multiple times and I thought I may as well, give me even more HYPE for ELS V! I too played GTA IV again today jusst for the old ELS with @Double Doppler's mods (which are awesome), but back to the point. ELS V will be a great script with hopefully some new features as well!

By the looks of things there are new features. Have you watched all of the test videos on various channels?

  • If you can successfully manage to go this route rather than the extras, would this mean that all vehicle models currently released would automatically be compatible with ELS? Also would we have to use

I have watched all atleast 3 times, someone made a playlist, these are all the ones I have seen: www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLmKou15odeThtnrowrg-WclK6JjW05h1a

I think that playlist has all the videos currently out.

Now that Matt Jeter has said he won't release his LAPD pack until ELS comes out I'm even more keen for ELS! Just because both the LAPD and CHP have such crazy light patterns, an ELS is needed to control it all.

Oh, when did he say that? I haven't been keeping track of it.

Here is a video of how the ELS is currently is right now.

Just some technical questions:

1- How does it work, does it require Ragehook or something along the lines of GTA V?

2-  Stability, obviously what you showed was Alpha and not reflective of what it will be in the future, but is it stable ATM, does it crash the game (to desktop) when 10 or so vehicles have ELS on like GTA 4?

3- Does it break the non-els vehicles like it did in GTA 4? (by that i mean if one of the police cars wasn't ELS it wouldn't have no emergency lights)

Hopefully i don't sound pushy or anything with my questions

It's been a long time since we first saw videos on it. I'm very impatient for it, but the moment it comes out I will be downloading it in an instant, no matter how far off that is.

You're going to have to wait for ELS enabled cars too, unless Matt or Bxbugs releases something at release of ELS

I know I'll make els vehicles once els is released.

Don't mess with the law, if you can't handle the law.

Seeing the footage, it really does feel like it is ready for a public testing release.
Though my guess is that they want the first release to be as stable as possible (just like with LSPDFR).
It got to be really annoying telling people "alright, here's a beta, this and that are broken we're going to fix it soon" and yet people still
gonna bug you off with "hey, this and that is broken". I have no idea if anyone knows where I'm going with that heh.

The same guy from GTAForums.

I assume ELS V will work the same way ELS IV did. As in, you have an ini configuration file called "SLOTCONTROL" and, depending on whether or not you have an ELS vehicle installed in a certain vanilla slot, you can toggle on or off the ELS configuration. If it's going to work like that again this time around, I feel it would also have to allow us to add our own entries from added cars in custom dlc folders.

In the last video in that youtube playlist, you can really see that the strobes/leds are bouncing light off structures far ahead of the vehicle like in real life. That's very exciting. The falloff distance of the police lights in default GTAV is embarrassing. I wish there was a way to make them reflect off road signs a lot more too

Some of us want to use specific flash patterns, custom lightbars and to be able to use colors specific to our departments.

For example, the police in my state use all blue emergency lighting, fire and ambulance use red. That's essentially all we'd like ELS for. (or I at least)

To add to that I'd like to be able to burst my siren when clearing intersections  without going code 3 or having to  cycle through the current  light function

Discussion for this seems to have died rather. But I suppose that's to be expected, we haven't had any information on it lately. I hope we get some soon because I'm still really impatient for it.

Ah, I see Lt.Caine has adopted the Valve Time approach, a wise choice.
