Navajo? A tribe? Or is it the town name? 

The tribe. They enforce the Navajo Nation, a semi-autonomous territory belonging to said tribe, located between Arizona, Utah and New Mexico. Seems like they changed to white liveries later, as can be seen in the next pictures.

Brink's trucks served as armored cars for officers to protect from sniper fire.

 

 

 

 Tape was put on the squad window to prevent shattering from thrown debris.

 

 

 

White helmets and batons were ofter spray painted black by officers so they wouldn't stick out so much to snipers. Note the shotgun sticking out of the ambulance window in the background.

 

 

The city goes up in smoke as officers battle rioters.

 

 

Exhausted officers slept outside due to the heat inside of the Command Post.

 

 

Roadblocks by both police and National Guard troops were set up throughout the city in an attempt to control the disorder.

The CVPI is perhaps my favorite 'modern' car [next to its panther platform siblings; the Grand Marquis and Town Car], but when there are so many promising classic vehicles out there that would stand out in an otherwise CVPI-saturated marketplace, I can mirror your sentiment.

You forgot about the Mercury Marauder.

 

The CVPI is also my favourite modern sedan. Agreed, the market is over saturated in them however. I find it quite bizarre that there are basically no 1990's era CVPI's. If there is a CVPI that is needed it is that one.

Well, so those were some of the few clips from the early cops seasons that are still avaliable. Aside from those I could only find some random episodes from the first couple seasons (USSR, Broward Co, Multnomah Co and Portland, San Diego, Los Angeles and LA Co) hosted in some site I won't link to which kept triggering the antivirus. Besides, the quality of the video was poor and many episodes were missing. Such a same.

Los Angeles Central Receiving Hospital ambulances, I saw a gold ambulance on Adam-12 and wondered what the heck?..
