Some cop cars pictures from the 1990 Oka crisis, better known for the picture of the face off between a Canadian soldier and a Mohawk warrior.

 

To sum it up, Oka (Quebec) local Government planned to build a golf course over some land claimed by the Mohawk people, which included a native burial ground. In protest, the Mohawk people set up barricades in some of the roads accesing the area. The Surete Du Quebec (Quebec Provincial Police) was called in to end up with the barricades, which led to a gun fight that left one dead officer. The SQ retreated, leaving their cruisers and an excavator back. The Mohawk wrecked and used them to build barricades, starting with a standoff that lasted for 78 days, until the Canadian Army was deployed.

Always wondered the background of this picture, as there is hardly any info or pictures of it. The car hasn't even got markings aside from the basic color theme. In addition, it doesn't have a NYPD license plate either. Perhaps this Cadillac was being tested prior to be added to the fleet?

I don't know if you can see the decals that well, but when I saw that LASD littlebird with the AMC Matador I wondered what I can add aviation wise.

I remember reading that the NYPD had ambulances specifically for shot/injured MOS at one point - you're probably close in saying it was a tester.  The two Federal CJ184 beacons (I think) on top are pretty awesome if I do say so myself.

According the the Sheriff's Office, this is the story:

"Sheriff’s squad 579 is a 1995-1996 Caprice. It had been used for parades and ceremonies. It is now finishing its life as a regular patrol car."

Interesting. Definitely looks weird with the LED lightbar.

Today I saw a 1994 Ford Crown Victoria Police Cruiser for Noorwood Ohio, and I knew it was still in service because it had the lightbar and everything, unfortunalty I couldn't get a picture :(
