Otherwise I like FHP's older cruisers with the single blue gumball

I'm not even going to pretend that I know what model or even brand that is, but I'm not into the "older" cars. However it does look nice :P

Those uniforms would be really cool in GTA IV. Anyone got a link to a similar mod?

I may be wrong, But I'd say that the car above is gonna be a 77-78 Plymouth Fury. I know that the Dodge Monacos look incredibly similar, but I think that the grill matches a Fury. Here are some pics of the two of them together. Fury is on the right, Monaco on the left.

And here's a solo Monaco

I'm going to continue posting about the US Border Patrol, this time about the so called 'Project RoadRunner'.

(Copy paste straight from SSP Central)

In the early 90's the US Border Patrol Tucson Sector had a program called Project Roadrunner. The purpose of the program was to reduce the number and length of pursuits using vehicles quicker than the traditional police cars at the time. The border patrol purchased a Chevy Z-28 Camaro, SSP Ford Mustang, and a Pontiac Firebird for this project. All three vehicles were equipped with Jetsonic lightbars and a roll cage.

After the program, the Camaro was sold and eventually destroyed. The Firebird now resides at the Border Patrol Museum in El Paso Texas. And the SSP Ford Mustang was last known to be stored at the Border Patrol fleet maintenance garage at the Tucson Sector Headquarters building as of 2010.

Oh, a question! Do you enjoy those NYPD pics? I have a lot of them and would be glad to share if this fits the topic.

That's nice! Indiana State Police used 1967 Impalas. There are barely pictures, though.

Detroit Police 1967 Biscayne with a weird push bumper. Simple black and white paint job. I don't really get the point of 2 door police cars to be honest.

You can't speak of classic police cars without mentioning movies and scenes, of course. Case in point, the 1968 NYPD Plymouth Fury in The Seven-Ups (1973). [see 4:56]

Those are some gorgeous photos! :) I particularly like the green & black car.

Have any of these cars been made yet? I'd love to make LC variant liveries.

Cheers..

What would you say about an RMP like that then?)

Less functional than a regular 4 door sedan, I'm guessing you'd have to dispatch a van as well to transport the suspect. Reminds me to LA Noire. The third one is a Ford, isn't it?

I never knew a high rise variant of that lightbar existed. Cool stuff.

Not exactly the same lightbar but the Colorado State Patrol used (not sure if they still do) some weird ass high rise lightbars.

Would be fun to see one of these drive under a low bridge...

I have a suggestion for all lovers of the classic police cars, to form a group, make a picture for the signature, exchange information with each other about such cars and collectively ask modelers to make cars that we need.

But for this we need a curator, we need to choose a person who really understands this.

The first one is 1946 Ford, all units on the second pic are 1949 Fords, and the third one is indeed 1957 Ford.

Here goes another 1957 pic - with roof-mounted speed radars! 57RMPs.jpg

They dun goofy lookin'. :teehee: Anyway, those look more ridiculous then the NYPD Highway Patrol high-risers.

Do you know of any that could top those in the funny looks dept?

Cheers.

Unfortunately, no. The closest thing we can get to one is BOVRILWares' vintage police car, based off of a 1972 Plymouth Fury. He forgot to put something appearing to look like a Federal Signal 660 Pulsator siren in front of that beacon light.

Keep those NYPD RMP photos coming, Hastings. They're fantastic!

I guess we could discuss here about that kind of modding stuff as well, if that's what you mean. Personally I'd be fine with it.

Well, the Surete du Quebec had also some peculiar looking lighting setup. Judge by yourself.
