GTA V map being made for IV.

Featured Replies

It seems as though the talented modders here on the internet are beating R* at creating a PC port for the beloved game title, GTA V. Taltigolt, a very talented modder, gave a bit of a sneak peak at his newest project of converting the GTA V map into GTA IV. He has given an estimate that a more proper video actually showcasing the whole bit will be made within the time period of a few weeks. To find out more information on this project, read the description of his video.

Video sneak peak released by Taltigolt can be viewed right here.

What are your thoughts and opinions about this being made?

  • Hi, sorry for the bump, I just want to give a status update on this mod, I have spoken to the developers and it has been confirmed that the mod is now officially dead (shader issues and LOD issues). B

  • Thanks for the update!

When it's released I will most likely create another directory using this map as LCPDFR will not work on it as the locations of the calls would be messed up. Might just use it for Traffic Stops.

Looks good so far, however it didn't really look that HQ or HD. Don't know if that's because it's not finished yet, or it's simply as good as it can look in GTA IV?

Anyways it's going to be fun to be able to go back to Los Santos in GTA IV with all the GTA V converting going on right now :)

Which it won't. Mods like this are copyright infringement. We don't deal with supporting mods like that.

Would it be possible just to do traffic stops?

I imagine LCPDFR will run on it without a problem, it's just the locations of callouts and such will be rather messed up.  I don't suppose there would be any reason why you couldn't use the API to make callouts compatible with it though.

"You tell me exactly what you want, and I will very carefully explain to you why it cannot be."

I hate big map mods like this purely because unless the person making it is willing to invest his life into making it right, there will be bugs that are so big they decrease the quality of it. And a lot of them don't work on the traffic ai aspect enough they just plonk down waypoints for the traffic to go along.

The problem you get then is sitting in one place watching AI traffic mount the pavement, run over a pedestrian, crash into a street light and then continue to drive down the path rather than the road over and over and over again because they didn't map it properly.

I'll be honest it is impressive, I know I couldn't do it any better than they have because quite frankly I don't have the energy or will power to work on something that big, so credit to the person making it, but no thanks. I'll wait until the people at Rockstar release GTA V on PC, they get paid to do it.

"But how do you know it's coming out on pc? What if they never do blah blah blah" I doubt a multi-international games production company would say no to making millions of dollars off a pc copy after what they spent on making it, do you?

Well, he's not actually the one converting and doing the hard work but glad to see people kicking Cockstar's ass.

Sadly, due to the GTA IV map limits it won't be possible to include the whole GTA V map.

A full LOD map of GTA V has already been released on GTA4-mods.com

..and on the topic of whether the games coming out on PC or not, IMO it definitely is. Don't you think by now they'd say that its not coming out on PC?

I just found the video while doing a daily search on Google "GTA V PC" and I have to say that I am pretty impressed, and what they said above "Taligot didn't convert it" as he even stated in the discription of the video

Well here's a GTA:V LOD (level of detail) mod for GTA:IV

He has never made anything himself, just showing off videos. Yet, many people still think he makes everything himself :P

I think I will just wait until the pc version comes out which it will

Let's not get ahead of ourselves now, Red Dead Redemption....

Anyways, I don't want it. I don't really want a GTA V map on IV. Ugly. GTA V had beautiful graphics which fit with the map, but the IV graphics won't fit so well, I think.
