  • Nah, I feel it's quite good if GPM actually has at least one script developer they can tout. Some competition is healthy.

  • While its nice and probably took a lot of time to make, I simply don't like how the corona's shine through the car. (See the front of it when he drives out in the video)   I think I'll stick to ELS

Dont install if you plan on playing on MP, i was kicked from matches because they said i was spamming the chat. Is a awesome mod though.

Wow, looks great! I think I will patiently wait for ELS 7 though.  Appears that a Metric She-yot ton of work went into that project by Grady.  Cool to have options after all of this time.

I think if you have a powerful system, ELS is the way to go. It's the more realistic. However, if you have a system that's a bit weak, maybe lacking in FPS, this is an excellent ELS alternative for that. It's certainly better than the default coronas.

Also if you want to avoid the god-mode "feature".

They shine through some places and not others. It sounds like ELS.net may find a way to fix that, so maybe Grady will be able to get it that way, also.

Here's my quick set-up with Caine's Vector Vapid Cruiser.

It's using coronas, the same concept Sam is working on, only his looks much, much more polished, in EVCS the lights are visible though the car model, they aren't on ELS.net, I'd hold off for ELS.net if I wanted a replacement for ELS itself (no need for that though, it's going to be awesome)

From the sounds of it, yes, ELS.net might be even better. EVCS, despite the flaws, is here now, so I can try it.

i think most people will wait for els. Light shining through solid objects is the last thing i want when i want to have something more realistic

If I want realism, it wouldn't include doors flipping out and indestructible cars. I know it can't be helped, but that argument doesn't make sense unless you mean only the visual appearance of the lighting. Granted, when a smashed up car still has all its lights flashing in the normal spots, it's a bit silly; we just have to choose our poison.

Updated the pattern. The way lights are set up, pairs that you'd expect to flash opposite don't, so I reworked the headlights, taillights, grill lights, and mirror lights. I'll mention that to Grady if I can ever seem to get a post to go through on GPM.

Not sure if I'm happy with the Vector pattern.

It is still a great mod! Know I can get out of a car and get no bump on the back ; )

For those who think it doesn´t work ( evcs.error). You can download the oregon cvpi, in the readme are the lines that replaces the police in the evcs.ini... or it doesn´t work as well.

Or replace with that line:

[POLICE]
SETONELIGHTSIZE = 30
SETTWOLIGHTSIZE = 15
SECONDARYLIGHTSIZE = 0
FLASHCOLOURONE = RED
FLASHCOLOURTWO = BLUE
USEEXTRASSYSTEM = FALSE

SETONELIGHTONEPOSITION = -0.45, -0.26, 0.92
SETONELIGHTONECOLOUR = BLUE

SETONELIGHTTWOPOSITION = -0.3, -0.26, 0.92
SETONELIGHTTWOCOLOUR = RED

SETONELIGHTTHREEPOSITION = -0.19, -0.26, 0.92
SETONELIGHTTHREECOLOUR = BLUE

SETONELIGHTFOURPOSITION = -0.05, -0.26, 0.92
SETONELIGHTFOURCOLOUR = WHITE

SETONELIGHTFIVEPOSITION = 0.05, -0.26, 0.92
SETONELIGHTFIVECOLOUR = WHITE

SETONELIGHTSIXPOSITION = 0.19, -0.26, 0.92
SETONELIGHTSIXCOLOUR = BLUE

SETONELIGHTSEVENPOSITION = 0.3, -0.26, 0.92
SETONELIGHTSEVENCOLOUR = RED

SETONELIGHTEIGHTPOSITION = 0.45, -0.26, 0.92
SETONELIGHTEIGHTCOLOUR = BLUE

//IF YOU DON'T WISH TO HAVE THE REAR CODE 3 XT6s, REMOVE EVERYTHING BELOW HERE

SETTWOLIGHTONEPOSITION = -0.475, -1.45, 0.52
SETTWOLIGHTONECOLOUR = AMBER

SETTWOLIGHTEIGHTPOSITION = 0.475, -1.45, 0.52
SETTWOLIGHTEIGHTCOLOUR = AMBER

just tried this out and I love it...with thin corona mod it looks damn good the lights through the car is a minor bug and grady said he will be fixing it so that's a very minor thing

sig.jpg

EVCS seems badly made, I'd wait for ELS.net - Sam's take on a lighting system with coronas seems much more polished and better coded.

Due to the graphic nature of this post, reader discretion is advised.

Are you even noting that it is a 0.1BETA? Changes will come. And, at least they have arrived rather than just a bunch of empty (as of yet) promises.

Okay, so when was EVCS announced?  Late January right?  How about ELS.Net?  It was announced last week, right?

Are you expecting to see something arrive within a week of the first public announcement?  If so, perhaps you need to rethink your expectations and think back to the time it took for EVCS to 'arrive' - 2 months later.

Here's the thing, ELS.Net is being designed from the ground up as a special or alternative version of ELS.  It uses the same name for a reason, it is for people who want ELS, but don't want the extra parts system.  As such, I'm doing my best, in close collaboration with Lt.Caine (we've exchanged upwards of 100 lengthy messages), to replicate ELS.  Now, if you take time to consider just how complex ELS is (think about the controls, the little touches, the interface...) you might realise that doing so is actually quite a daunting challenge.

This is getting ridiculous, I'm sick of the flaming about all of this, so let me make some things very clear.

1.  Contrary to what some people are claiming, EVCS is not the first mod of its kind

The first mod to feature coronas as a method of emergency lighting was made by me in 2010, it was called Illumination and it was a very experimental thing that I ditched for the same reasons that a lot of people are criticising EVCS for: http://youtu.be/9WNEj9yskh4?t=1m45s

2.  ELS.Net has been in development since January 19th, 2013 (before EVCS was announced)

I started work on ELS.Net on January 19th, coming up with some basic concepts for how it might work.  Back then, it was still known as Illumination, and was me picking up where I left off here:

3.  EVCS and ELS.Net are alternatives for people who don't like the extra parts system.

That's all they are - alternatives.  Some people will prefer the options of EVCS like livery switching, some people will prefer the features of ELS.Net such as full pattern customisation, exporting and sharing as well as the ELS interface and the rotating light simulation.

Now please, can we cut the crap?

"You tell me exactly what you want, and I will very carefully explain to you why it cannot be."
