• US Department of Defense. And Yakadafi/EVI/TheThinBlueLine is a deputy, as is Bailey23 (though I just looked, and he actually hasn't been here in months)

Thank you for your service Comm

I know that you guys take a lot of flack from us non-MP's; and It's no secret that I don't like the MP's much but hey were all on the same team.

Likewise, I feel uncomfortable when people thank me. So no need, if anything some of us Non-MP's should be thanking you guys for saving us from ourselves lol.

Also it takes up to 5-10 years to get into the swat team.... Most places you need to be a police officer for 3 years, than also need to be in the top of the top of the department...

3-5 as a patrol officer is the general minimum requirement. Likewise you gotta pass an intensive screening process that tests you on your fitness and psychological/mental capabilities.

To be swat most officers do Police officer than part time swat team member.

Depends on how big the agency is. Majority of SWAT is made up of part-time volunteers; larger metro areas are full-time members.

You need a green card to move to U.S.A. and its impossible to get one.

Why is it impossible ??

It's not impossible; I know a bunch of people who have green cards. On the other hand, most of them are professionals (doctors and scientists and the like), so they probably had an easier time getting it.

Yep thats what I was meaning lol

Mai is gonna hate me for this, I want to be in the USAF. Not an officer, sadly. Most of you guys know my age :P, so it might be in about 10-11 years :D

Why should I hate? Although I'm not an Airman, I still have the utmost respect and brotherly love for all the divisions which make up the mother force which is known as the United States Military. We're different from each other and some can do certain tasks better than the other but, in the end, we're all one team working together.

Regarding to this topic, I'm thinking about going back into my studies at college to earn my degree in Criminal Justice. After earning that, I'll seek employment by either one of the five local agencies in my area, or join a Californian agency when money's on my side. Who knows. :)

Im not a LEO. don't be fooled by my forum name because several people asked me if Im an officer because of it. I'm right now 22 and looking to go into the academy hopefully beginning of 2013. If not then mid-October of 2013. If qualified and successfully completed the academy then I'm looking to join up with either Orlando Police, Kissimmee Police, or Osceola County Sheriff, All located here in Florida. I'm also thinking of going for Toronto Police Services because I love Canada..... and Canadians :) lol but honestly TPS because I always wanted to live in Canada but somewhere that doesn't require French as a primary language since I don't speak french. Just fluent English and Spanish.........and cuz I love Canada lol

Is it hard to get into the NYPD ? I ask cause it's where i want to work but i'm from France and i really don't know who to ask .. :/

1st you need to be a US civ hint you will need to move to New York City study criminal justice there than apply. No police department will hire in the US if you took your class's out of the States because the laws are different in different country's. Also your going to need to be fluent in English more fluent than French...

To get a green card, it is a year or so progress a kid from my school just moved to the US from England it only took him 6 months because he was from a trusted country and also their parents proved they could be working people....

I'm going to join the LAPD, but what I really want is to be air support, but that's really hard.

The only way to get into flying a chopper in the police department is if you are already know how to do it they won't buy the lessons for you or anything. SO hints you will mostly likely have to join the military to learn or fine one of the few people in US that teaches. It will cost some were inbetween $10,000 to $15,000 to learn how to fly one, that's if you are a fast learner. Also it can take years to get a spot with the them.

Intrusters will charge around $70 for ground time and $200 for air time and you need to be a fast learning or that $10,000 will turn into $20,000...

You've been Rick Rolled
And NYPD has an age limit of 35 (any older than that and you can't take the test). So, more time pressure if you want to join that department.

Not a LEO, But a PSO (Public Safety Officer). I work for a company that provides both Private Investigation and Security Services. The company holds a Public Safety contract for the downtown area with the city I live in, So we're kinda considered 'Peace Officers' of sorts. We work hand-in-hand with our local police department and have actually been titled an 'Ancillary force' of the Police Department. Everything works so well between us, I'm betting that it's due to the fact that our DOPS (Director of Public Safety, Compare it to Chief of Police) is in-fact a Ex-LEO himself.

How does that work? Is that, like, you guys supplement police in the downtown area? What city is it?
