does updating lspdfr cause mods and scripts not to work?

No. It will only replace the base LSPDFR files. You should only need to replace the dll, unless there were other files that got updated. 🙂

I don't ever see that happening, unfortunately.  The main reason Bejoljo left this site is because management got pissy about the choices Bejoljo made with his mods (online only/version checker, remove support for previous versions) and stopped allowing his mods to be uploaded here until he removed it.

This never happened. No one on the team ever removed his mods, he left by his own will. It is true that we were working on some new plugin policies to further protect the user base, but those have not yet come to fruition.

If I remember correctly, he left after we decided not to remove a few negative reviews that were not in violation of our Guidelines. Whether that was related or not, only he would know.

If you are having problems with LSPDFR 0.4.8, please do not post about them in this topic, but use the support forums instead.

Before you do, though, read through this topic: https://www.lcpdfr.com/forums/topic/89691-read-will-save-your-time-common-issues-fixes-and-bugs/

There are a lot of fixes for common problems in there.

Oh nice and I just installed uniforms and a cop holster mod,  maybe I wont need them any longer. I will test this release out tonight and do a video on it.

Wouldn’t do that if I were you.

I guess I’ll be the one to say it, this is by far the worst version of LSPDFR I’ve seen yet. I’m still playing on 0.4.7 because of all the serious issues it’s caused not only for me, but to many others as well. Don’t get me wrong, I love this website, I love playing lspdfr, but what I love most of all, is presenting a new version to my audience that doesn’t destroy their game, doesn’t disable their plugins, and actually works. IMO this new version needs to be rethought, redone, and looked over carefully before releasing it to the public because I can assure you that half of the people on here never take time to read the description, they just click the download and go with it. I’ll stick with 0.4.7 for now, but this new version of lspdfr needs some serious improvements.

Can you attach a RAGEPluginHook.log file to our support forums? It's very easy to sit and shout at how broken it is, but ultimately if people are experiencing issues and bugs, we actually need logging and debugging information to do anything about it.

Speaking to plugins which disable themselves due to version checking, you cannot blame LSPDFR for that.  You have provided no useful information about the problems you (or anyone else) are experiencing.  How do you expect the issues to be fixed if you don't specify what they are?

This is the exact attitude that makes me want to stop creating for the community.

I agree. I've said this before and I will say it again, you can't blame LSPDFR for the decisions of Third Party CreatorsIt's such a shame that some people can't see that.

I can assure you there was no attitude behind what I said, I was only speaking about what this particular version has/had done to our game/games. If honesty makes you not wanna create this amazing mod for the community, then you should probably listen to us and take heed to the problems that’s brought to you. Ive even talked with you all on Twitter about this multiple times from the issues we had with 0.4.7 and you all just brushed it off and blamed rage instead. So excuse me if I feel as though right now that what I’ve been saying for a long time has been brushed under the rug. Now as far as the issues go, I told you what it did. It destroyed my game, it loaded in once, I forced duty, it froze. I literally tried loading in again 4 times in a row, even one of my friends tried loading in literally 10 times and it was the same for him as well, and we both took all the necessary steps, restarting our pc, verifying our game files, making sure all drivers, windows, games, etc were all up to date, and it just gave us both a continuous black loading screen after that. And there are so many others that are having these same exact issues. Anyways, After I went back to 0.4.7, it fired right up. Plugins, Callouts, OpenIV Modifications etc were all working great. So that 3rd party stuff... well I guess we’ll agree to disagree. I apologize that you took what I said completely out of context. The things I say might sound rude, but I can assure you yet again, that they are not intended that way. So, what can be done to fix this? Because I would love nothing more then to move onto a new version that from what I read and seen, had a lot to offer. So what’s the next step from here?

There's no necessary data file changes in 0.4.8.  If you have 0.4.7 installed already, all you have to do is copy the new LSPD First Response.dll and .pdb into your plugins folder.

The only data file change is to agency.xml, where we add <EvidenceMarkerModel> to the default FIB agency as an example.  You don't need that for the new version to run though and can continue happily using all of your old files.

You only need to copy over the new .dll and .pdb, and there is no reason why those won't work if 0.4.7 already does.

The only thing that may potentially not work is other plugins and we don't have any control over that, and as I explained above, we already do everything we can to make sure that these plugins remain compatible with LSPDFR.  They simply choose not to be compatible with us.

So what’s the next step from here?

  • Remove/disable all plugins/callouts. Simple way is to rename the plugins/lspdfr folder to something like plugins/lspdfr-backup
  • Disable any vehicle mods you have installed. Move/rename the mods folder and the lml folder.
  • Start the game normally without RPH to make sure your game is actually working properly aside from any plugins. If so, great, you can then restart it with RPH
  • Start up the game and see if you can load into LSPDFR. If so, great - the problem isn't LSPDFR, it's one of your LSPDFR plugins or it's a vehicle you installed causing issues. If you still can't, post your log to the support forum so someone can actually see what might be causing your issues.

Sir, this is a you problem, if everyone else can get LSPDFR to work, and your over here saying it 'destroyed' your game, you installed something wrong on your end.

Sounds like you should learn C# and ask to assist the development team with working on 0.4.9 so you can fix all your issues.

Sounds like you didn't try everything. You could have just removed everything from Plugins except LSPDFR and see if it launched. If it did, then the issue was one of the Plugins. In this case, most likely Bejo's.

Ok so when I download and install a new version of LSPDFR, I shouldn’t have to remove any plugins and/or mods. As a matter of fact, I’ve never had to do that. Any time a new version of lspdfr has ever came out, everything in my game always worked great with it, so with that being said, that’s not even something that we practice. Removing plugins or any other mods to say the least, is not your typical top 5 trouble shooters. Trust me dude. I have a discord with almost 3,000 members in there where I have a huge and very knowledgeable support team whom I work with on a daily basis and all we do is trouble shoot lspdfr 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 365 days all year round. The only time we ever even come to close to recommending someone to remove a plugin, callout, and/or any other mod within the game, is if for 1, they have low and/or minimal pc specs, or 2 if we have done absolutely everything we know to do to get their game up and running, then yes, we ask them to start subtracting mods from their game, however, we start with Callouts first, not plugins. Because the plugins are what makes the game as enjoyable as it is. So we want everyone to always enjoy the game as much as they possibly can. But myself personally, I’ve never had to remove anything when installing a new version of lspdfr. So yes, I most certainly did try everything.

I mean...if the Plugins that a user is using is outdated, then you should. Because it can cause stability issues. That is how Bejo's mods act when LSPDFR is updated, due to the version checker. Heck, some mods that still use 0.3b are completely unstable and should not be used in the slightest with the new LSPDFR version.

It honestly should. It's a very important path to consider when troubleshooting a users issues.

Subtle flex but okay. Still doesn't subtract from the point that I made that the new version of LSPDFR is most likely not the cause of the crash and that you didn't even bother to test your Plugins.

@CriminalJustice It's funny how you say you're so knowledgeable on LSPDFR, yet you can't do the basic steps of figuring out why your the new version of LSPDFR is not working for you, as I said, this is a you problem, not the mod.
