Upon surfing on some gaming websites, I stumbled over the official announcement of Emergency 5, the successor to Emergency 2012.

This link leads to the (German, as it does not seem to be available in another language) statement on the homepage of Deep Silver, the game's publisher:

In short, they start with the announcement of Emergency 2013, a DLC for Emergency 2012 which is supposed to have new missions and should come out in November.

At the end, however, they write: "Deep Silver also confirms that Emergency 5, the long awaited sequel to Emergency 4, is in development and will put a special focus on modding."

This is just my innoficial summary and translation, mind you, but I think I got all the important facts

I figured I'd post it here since there are some quite enthusiastic Emergency players around.

I loved Emergency 4. It's a shame modding scene is now in stagnation. But I'm more than happy to hear that EM5 will be moddable!

Emergency 5 is Emergency 2012 isn't it?

That site is all in german for me but I'm going to keep an eye on this stuff because 2012 wasn't mod-able, if they learnt from their mistakes and make this mod-able I'll grab it most likely, I'd love to see an updated LA mod or the like and there's no shortage of talent still in the Emergency community.

Nah. 2012 is 2012, and not 5. Like Battlefield 2142 wasn't BF3, although it come after BF2.

it will be released digital only as an AddOn and you need the Maingame (Emergency 2012) to run it..

I enjoyed EM4, and I wish that they would actually finish the Manhattan Mod, but I'm ready for another Moddable EM game, so I hope EM5 is actually in development.

I'm with Aussie on this. I bought 2012 before finding out it was unmod-able, I then stopped playing it, and went back to EM4 Los Angeles. I hope HOOPA will get back into the modding scene if EM5 is mod-able.

EM5 is definitly going to be moddable, I can't imagine any game developer would take the risk of releasing wrong information.

I've heard of the game but never got a chance to play. Maybe I will when the 5 comes out.
