Tired of it looking like you're on your phone when you use the radio? Tired of the chest radio animation looking more like a gang symbol rather than an officer grabbing their radio? Does your ai dispatch plugin not have in-car animations? Well look no further! With the release of Radio Roleplay all that is possible and more.

Radio Roleplay is an immersive radio-animation plugin for Grand Theft Auto V, designed for use with RagePluginHook and LSPDFR. It allows players to perform configurable police radio animations using a push-to-talk-style keybind.

Players can choose between shoulder microphones, chest microphones, handheld radios, earpiece poses, other custom animations, and dedicated in-car radio animations (with configurability). When the configured key is held, the selected animation begins and the character’s mouth moves to simulate speaking. Releasing the key immediately ends the transmission. This is to mimic PTT behavior that dispatch plugins like GrammarPolice or NexusDisptach use. Wouldn't fit the aesthetic if it didn't function like this.

The plugin includes a fully functional menu with separate pages for regular and in-car animations, plugin settings, (debug) notifications, modifier keys, and animation selection. All selections and controls are saved through the included INI configuration.

Dedicated in-car animations activate automatically inside police vehicles. When the player is seated in a civilian vehicle, Radio Roleplay instead uses their selected regular animation (also known as on-foot animations). Configurable animation start and hold positions allow in-car poses to skip unwanted movement and remain naturally positioned near the character’s mouth (this can also be edited in the ini).

Some of the Current Features listed:

  • Custom YCD animation support

  • Support with both handheld radio animations

  • Police-vehicle detection

  • Independent and no longer requires replacement of the vanilla animations used by LSPDFR

  • Detailed RagePluginHook diagnostic logging (in a future update soon I'll make this a boolean that way it can be disabled if you think you don't need it)

Simple Video Showcasing's

Author's Note:

  • Currently if you install a new handheld radio animation the walkie talkie prop will fail to spawn. If you want to add a new handheld radio animation reach out to StanMan420. He'll help you get the offsets (the digits required so the plugin can spawn the prop in the right spot in your hand) so I can implement that into the plugin. In a future update I may add a workaround for this or allow you guys to do it yourself through the menu. - Ophelia

  • Please report any issues to our support team discord - StankMan420

Known Issue's:

Incompatible with Radio Roleplay

  • Grand Theft Keybinds - this somehow removes the ability to use or display LSPDFR's character menu (M Menu after forcing duty). The LSPDFR character menu is a vital process to the install of Radio Roleplay. This is because that menu houses the ability to deactivate LSPDFR's version of radio animations entirely. Without being able to access that, LSPDFR animations will play on top on of Radio Roleplays animations. The fix? Simply do not use GTK (Grand Theft Keybinds).

Conclusion / Final Investigative Reports

  • A user reported an issue with the public releasing causes crashes with cellphones (calls, text, displays, etc). It has been determined that this was due to the "Updated Radio Animations for Grammar Police Mod". That mod is what was released prior to Radio Roleplay. To fix this issue simply uninstall "Updated Radio Animations for GrammarPolice" and if you don't want to do that use these mods a hotfix if you experience this you should use GameplayFixesV. You can also try out the FreeMyController mod or the Disable Phone mod. GameplayFixesV lets you disable the cellphone entirely, FreeMyController and Disable Phone were listed because different users reported they work as hotfixes also.

  • A user reported an issue with the lspdfr character menu being inaccessible. This issue was already determined to have not been caused by RR. The user later found out the GTK mod was the cause and this confirms that GTK is non-compatible with RR.

I'm not sure what you mean. If you show me a reference I might be able to conjure up something

I see. I do believe that is a paid asset and seeing as though I'm not really an animator, I just converted what was already made to work with GrammarPolice, I can't really make that. If you already own the asset and want it converted I can do that for you privately but that's about it unfortunately.

You can't really disable the phone, but you can change the keybind to something you'll never use. As for the vest, I'm not sure what you mean.

Hey, is it possible to free the other hand. Applying animation on only one hand? There has to be.

Sadly the only way would to be editing the animation in 3DS Max, I couldn’t manage to get 3DS to work but if you want to give it a shot you’re welcome to!

That would be so cool, in real life, agencies like the LAPD always have their radio in one hand and their weapon in the other.

If I can get the chest animation to ever actually replace the chest slot instead of the shoulder slot, I’ll definitely add a custom shoulder animation!

great mod, but would it not make sense to have a chest animation replace a chest one, and for shoulder the same way around?

as I explained in the readme, I tried to replace the one for the chest and it refused to work, something about replacing it causes it to either not play or just crash the game all together. These are the limitations you run into when converting animations and not creating them.
