  1. Rational people can choose what they want to believe of course, I didn't say that they had to follow a certain system of belief such as atheism. Spirituality has always been part of humanity and explains a lot about concepts we still use (luck, destiny etc.) but we can't prove they exist or not. Evolution, in contrast to most spiritual beliefs, is much easier to prove as we have physical evidence and actually something to work with (fossils etc.) whereas religion is a series of acts which may or may not have taken place, and are much harder to prove thanks to the inadequate historical records of the classical period. As for the whole religious movement, what needs to be taken into consideration is that, until very recently, people didn't have much of a clue about how the world worked and thus turned to priests to provide an explanation of life, and as such religious leaders could make up any old shtick and make it their religion's creed as long as it suited their ends. The real answer to the whole religion-science conundrum is simply, we don't know. Both things are still mostly unexplored and need a few decades more of scientific research to prove the origins of life were intelligent design or millennia of evolutionary progress. I can understand how my words can be taken the wrong way, but what I really meant was that religion, even though it can co-exist with scientific outlooks (humanist movement etc.) is really more of a social construct meant to establish a social hierarchy and order (citizens -> priests -> Leader) in the period before organised government, and, as mentioned earlier, to extract as much wealth as possible for those on the top of the pile. This to me just seems wrong, as exploiting people's beliefs for profit is clearly against the very rules of most organised religion.
  2. That wasn't the point I was trying to make, all I'm saying is that the religion concept has been taken over by the greedy and power-hungry who use it as a tool to control the masses and collect wealth. If you don't believe me, just look at the Pope or any religious authority- they preach about peace while condoning wars against those who don't believe 'their' ways, and talk about giving to the poor and living without wealth while in a church filled with more gold than Jay-Z's bathroom. It's the hypocrisy of most religions that grinds my gears and just doesn't redeem itself to me.
  3. If you're a forward-looking individual who believes in the progress of man, then evolution is the way to go. If you still believe in invisible sky-god friends then i suggest you re-evaluate your life.
  4. So, they need to magic up another hundred grand to get this thing funded... In all seriousness, I wonder if they'd allow users to host their own 'historical' servers with custom cars and assets? I wouldn't mind a game of this set in the '50's or 70's.
  5. If the NK citizens got an inkling of what life is like on the outside of that mega-prison, they'd lynch Kim-Jong Fat without a second thought. With that jolly thought in mind, I wonder what It's like to be the only fat guy in your country. That would make gym sessions really uncomfortable.
  6. I'm doing a diploma in computer science, then hopefully going in to a degree in game development. After that, I'll probably die in a huge explosion in a knife fight with my nemesis on the rim of a volcano or something.
  7. if a menu for the PC's like the PDFR police computer could be made (to enter suspect name, date of arrest and offence) then modelling a holding cell into Abraxas's mod to place the suspect in, then it's definitely possible.
  8. Rollin that Metal Gear vibe.
  9. Bringing 3 M4's to deal with a trespassing vagrant? That was completely uncalled for, and the video clearly shows the guy wasn't violent to justify the shooting. This is why body cameras are necessary- they can weed out the 'bad' cops and justify the 'good' cops.
  10. People said that about Jimmy Saville, look how that turned out.
  11. One bullet is all it takes to waste some perps in Liberty, my friend. Just make sure it's a modded grenade bullet.
  12. Holy sh*t, their kickstarter's been up for less than three days and already $25000. I have a fairly confident feeling this will get funded and then some.
  13. Enough is enough. How about we try a little 'eye for an eye' tactic? no mercy, put these barbaric pirates down before they destroy our way of life.
  14. Graphically, it looks pretty similar to Kingdom Come: Deliverance. I'll be following this, as a real 'life sim' MMO sounds cool. Maybe they'll also have a 'casual' server section where you can just jump into a role and play as that without affecting player stats, a bit like Peaceful mode in GTA: Online. Also, hopefully their Kickstarter will get featured on a gaming site like PCgamer to attract interest.
  15. And this is why the Internet needs a 'you must be this old/responsible' barrier.
  16. People who say 'f*ck the police' and like that ignorant Copblock facebook page need to seriously rethink their lives.
  17. Got my Amazon copy lined up, made sure to get it early.
  18. I've been thinking about a new idea for gameplay immersion: After selecting your character, you could spawn in the partner selection room and receive a few lines of random text simulating a briefing, like 'be on the lookout for a stolen Blue Landstalker, license plate xxx xxxx' or 'Recent unrest means that patrols in xxxx area must receive backup ASAP' etc. What i was thinking was that this script could use the .API features of 1.0d to keep track of notifications like stolen cars, so that you have a chance to encounter them during gameplay.
  19. Man, these anti-piracy ads are getting really mean.
  20. You only need to worry about government surveillance if you have something to hide... so that's everyone.
  21. If you can get enough cars together (ripping the files from LA Noire maybe) and perhaps a collection of peds that suit the period, then it could happen. But remodeling the entire map for the period would be impossible unless a group of experienced modders got together to think the design through: -There were no freeways in that era, so highways would have to be replaced by probably poor ghettos or industrial areas, with roads routed through. - Times square area would need to be stripped of most of its lighting and billboards, and replaced with appropriate designs. - Ped behavior would need to be modified so they don't use cell phones. - street objects (phone booths etc) would need to be modded. - the airport probably wouldn't be there, so a district would need to be modelled there. - Projects housing would have to be redesigned. So all in all, It's a massive project that would be difficult, but not impossible. How about going the other way, and importing the map from LA Noire (unless that's impossible due to engine constraints)? speaking of LA Noire, it would have been amazing if there was a spinoff game set in that period where you could pick a class (mobster, drug dealer, cop, businessman etc.) where you could actually do activities in the world. I for one would have loved a LAPDFR game mode for that :)
