  6. Ugh, again i have to resurrect another thread. I'M SORRY. I wanted to update this because i fixed the issue, and if someone else has this problem i want them to see the solution here. Basically, you have to keep in mind that your materials work in a little hierarchy as well. When you map your new ELS lights, you need to make sure that the ELS lightsemissive material is ABOVE the vehglass material for your windows (if it's a slicktop) or your lightbar's glass. If you, like myself and i'm sure many others, find that your lightsemissive material is below your vehglass material, all you have to do is copy the vehglass material. the new vehglass material that is created (don't forget to rename it! duh!), will be at the bottom of the list. After copying it, apply the material to the vehglass that you cannot see your lights through. Good luck!
  7. Sarcasm? Or are you genuinely confused? Thought it was pretty clear, but i can elaborate if necessary.
  8. First off, i'm sorry to resurrect this thread, i know it's over a month old. HOWEVER, i can answer his questions.
  9. You'll have to rename them so that each file has a different name. Then, in the material for each different one, you'll have to change the emerglights_emis texture to the renamed version of it.
  10. Not sure if they carry AR's, I've never seen them with one. I occasionally assist them with DUI checkpoints in my city, so I'll ask them about it the next time. It's fairly random when they do it, so I have no idea when that will be!
  11. I agree with you. I never said the MSP were perfect. I only said that they are highly respected. The departed was a remake of a hong kong film, it's not based on a true story. There are bad eggs in every bunch, and i know that. The North Hollywood Shootout is an excellent example. The police had to shoot these guys hundreds of times before they went down. They estimated over 650 rounds were fired in total just by the police. Luckily that day, no officers or civilians lost their life, but several were wounded. And yes, it could have been solved a lot quicker, and with less injury, with a Patrol rifle. Also, thank you for your service to the country. edit - I just did a quick google search to pull up an example, and this article is slightly amusing. http://www.thetruthaboutguns.com/2013/04/robert-farago/why-do-the-philadelphia-police-have-1356-full-auto-m-16s/ that's a lot of Full Auto rifles. They apparently were going to make them Semi Automatic though. So I'm not sure which departments specifically, but i have seen articles about it before.
  12. They are not handing out 100 rifles. They are handing out 33. There are 11 precincts in boston, which means each precinct gets 3 rifles. Only 2 will be issued on any given day. That means a total of 22 officers on one day will have rifles. If they train 100, they have plenty of replacement officers if someone calls out sick. Police officers don't "wave assault rifles around" These rifles will most likely stay in their car for their day to day activities. They aren't going to carry them on traffic stops, or around the city. Swat Teams are 10 minutes away at the least. That's on a day with no traffic. You have never driven through Boston on a normal day. I have seen cruisers, responding code 3, stuck in a traffic jam with everyone else. the BPD doesn't have time to always rely on their swat team, who could respond 30 minutes after being needed. Knowing the reputation of Massachusetts police? Seriously? the BPD is one of the oldest, and most respected police departments in the country. The same with the Mass State Police. You sound like someone who had a bad experience with a police officer, and are taking it out on your keyboard.
  13. Sorry for the double post, but i just had to reply to this. A shotgun is not going to take out anyone in 1 shot from 15-20 yards. Especially someone who is pumped up on adrenaline. People have taken multiple Shotgun hits and more than 10 pistol rounds, survived, and killed officers. I'm reading about it in a textbook as we speak. Textbook is called "street survival, tactics for armed encounters" And was a textbook for police officers up until very recently.
  14. Don't be fooled by the Massachusetts "Assault Weapons Ban" It only bans Fully Automatic rifles with 3 or more "Assault Features" such as a Pistol grip, scope, etc. It also bans the use of collapsible stocks, flash hiders, silencers, and a few other things. And of course, no Massachusetts resident with the exception of Law Enforcement are allowed to own any new magazine deemed "High Capacity" which is 11 rounds or more. If your high capacity magazine was produced before a certain cut off date (somewhere in 1994 i think), then it is perfectly legal. There are tons of pre-ban 30 rd STANAG magazines kicking around Massachusetts. Same thing goes with pre-ban rifles. They can have more than 2 assault features. That being said, Semi-Automatic rifles such as the Smith and Wesson M&P Sport 15 are completely legal in Massachusetts. I can go down to the store right now and purchase an AR15 for around $800. I just can't put more than 2 "assault features" on the rifle. Because they all generally come with a pistol grip, that only leaves me 1 slot for something extra. So yes, there are plenty of Semi Automatic, 30rnd rifles out there. Not to mention just because a MA resident may not be able to get a gun, doesn't mean someone who is already planning to break the law by going on a shooting spree, won't go buy one just across the border illegally. Most AR15s issued to Police Departments are Fully Automatic, but only time will tell what they will be issued. As a Massachusetts resident, i definitely want the BPD to have ARs. They're not going to hand them out to just any officer, only those who have been properly trained and certified will be able to use them. Even then, they will most likely be rifles that stay in the trunk or the front seat. They aren't going to be conducting traffic stops with them. The BPD wants these rifles to be available to select officers when they need them. Police officers in general are already out-gunned. Just look at the two officers who stopped a car because it had a broken tail light. The guy gets out of his car with an AK and fires 33 rounds at them. Luckily they survived.
  15. Hey guys, So this has been bugging me for a long time. Basically, when i turn on my ELS, my white lights get this really beautiful (to me), sort of bloom effect. However, colored lights are more "stiff" and squarish. This video of my Vector lightbar shows it quite well. Compare the white rotators to the blue. Is there any way i can make the blue more like the white ones?
  16. Yeah, your best bet is to find a font that looks exactly like it, and just add the little cut outs to the B and P Edit - I would try and find a picture that was taken as head on to the lettering as possible, then throw it in photoshop and tweak some fonts until it matches about right.
  17. Furtura Black was the old Boston Police font, it has changed in the last few years to something new. Not sure what though, sorry Edit - In all likeliehood, it's not an actual font, but simply a design. I would work more on finding something similar, and then replicating what you see.
  18. As i thought! Your extras should be named as such: If LED1 and LED2 are the wig-wags like i suspect, they'll need to be added to extras 5 and 6. ELS works like this; the main pattern is assigned to 1 through 4. Most light bars are set up so that, when looking at the back of the vehicle, 1 is on the left, 2 and 3 in the middle, and 4 on the right. extras 5 and 6 are set up as the wig-wags. Wig wags are the alternating (generally white) lights, and are also your main Takedown lights. extras 7-9 are the secondary lights. These are the lights that will become the traffic advisers.
  19. It is most likely something to do with your hierarchy and naming. Any chance you could take a couple screenshots? Perhaps he was trying to assist people with vision disabilities?
  20. Not even my cruiser has a shotgun or M4. Definitely no cuffs hanging from the rearview, those stay on my belt. Perhaps all the CVPI modelers are going for realism? Not a lot of people get to drive around with an AR or Shotgun in the car. Besides, i seriously doubt that you've had the time to search through EVERY cvpi model that's been released. I don't think anyone has the time for that. keep looking! you'll find what you're after eventually i'm sure
  21. Not bad at all! The Glock is a great gun, i personally carry a Glock 23, and i own a Ruger 1911 as well. In terms of recoil, a .40 does not have more kick than a .45 :p It's a different kind of recoil altogether. A .45 has a big, heavy, slower kick, but your gun is moving more than a .40 A .40 is a more snappy, fast recoil, which is difficult for some people to manage. If you decide to get into shooting, and possibly carrying concealed, make sure you practice practice practice. Especially drawing. Dry fire exercises are fantastic. Unless you have a rim fire, don't listen to people who tell you that dry firing your weapon will damage it. While that's true of a lot of older rim fire guns, it's generally not true of newer center fire pistols. If you are really concerned about it, buy a few Tipton snap caps. You want the clear red ones with brass ends. Most other, cheap snap caps will damage your gun. Definitely stay away from Aluminum snap caps. As the pin strikes the snap cap, they mash into the chamber and can cause damage. Two of the most important parts of shooting is grip and trigger pull. You need to be able to pull your trigger without moving your front sight post. I'm sure the officers there went over it, but it really is important. The best way to practice your trigger pull is by using a piece of paper on your wall. Put an X on it with a marker and then aim your gun. Practice pulling the trigger without moving your front sight post off the X. When you practice your live fire, imagine that you're dry firing, and try not to focus on the recoil. Anyways, i'm rambling on now, but that's just my .02 cents!
  22. Very good for a beginner! Certainly better than my first models.
  23. I actually learned something very interesting about COPS: A lot of it is fake. I'm an Auxiliary Police Officer, and cops wanted to come and do a show with our regular police department. Basically, what they do is comb through all of your files, find the most "interesting" and then recreate it with actors. I don't know if they do this with every episode, but they wanted to do it with our regular department. edit: i changed "all" to "a lot" because it's not all fake. Can't fake car accidents.
  24. I work full time tuning, fixing, and restoring Pianos. I'm also a part time Auxiliary Police Officer. I took the civil service test, and i'm hoping to become a full time LEO soon.
  25. I had a friend who was a female gamer. She loved using a Mic because she thought the insults that she received were amusing. She was damn good at Halo, and that pissed off a lot of prepubescent boys. If that's true, you're going to make someone a great boyfriend some day. I've been in a relationship with my girlfriend for 8 years, and whenever people ask for advice, that's exactly what i tell em. Shut up and take it.
